The greatest album ending of all time
^^^This. YES. YES. YES. ^^^^
Yeah. Like 800 consecutive weeks in the 200 list
From one of the greatest albums by one of the… no, not one of..,THE best bands EVER!!!!
Like sanity and life: It Just ends.
Pink Floyd the cerebral poets of rock music , they slowly pull you in with their long intros and then get your mind in a place where they want you and take you on a magical journey and then slowly bring you back to reality and leave you thinking about what you just experienced, pure musical genius
Well said my friend.
Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall: all phenomenal masterpieces, the likes of which we'll never see again. Something about the 70s that produced some of the greatest music we'll ever know. Magic.
This album NEEDS to be listened to start to finish.
Great gig in the sky is very soulful song of sorrowful melody
I don't know how they do it; all I know is that they do. When my wife of 4 years decided to leave me, the pain was so bad I couldn't think or sleep. At night when I put DSOM on with headphones, it drained the pain away and took me somewhere so peaceful that I was able to sleep. It got me through tough times by taking me elsewhere. BTW, I have been married to my 2nd wife for over 40 years. 😍
This is exactly what I mean by music helping people through things! Congrats on your beautiful marriage btw. Glad you were able to get through the pain of the first one
how's that pain working out?
@@robertkirk4387 After 43 years it had better be gone or it would have killed me. I realized that "all we are is dust in the wind" and now I can look back and see that "Life's been good to me so far" and will continue to be good. Since you asked the question, Robert, are you experiencing that sort of pain now?
The world just disappears when you play Dark Side of the moon beginning to end.
@@genov9374 and now you’re in your “Golden Years”?
Alan Parsons was the sound engineer on DSOM so alot of what you feel listening to this is thanks to him
Alan Parsons has the skills that can pay the bills.
Brilliant in the greatest albums doc from the bbc dealing with dark side of the moon, a real insight. It’s not on CZcams anymore but you can find it on some other sites
Hands down best band ever - got to see them in concert in 1977, As others have said, the way to acheive maximum effect of the 'big 4' Floyd albums (Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall) is to listen from beginning to end.
One does not just listen to Pink Floyd, you listen feel immerse and become part of the song
This is the best album closer of all time it is epic
in my opinion, Pink Floyd music allows the listener to be one self...as if one were a child learning for the first time...just sayin':)
You're exactly right. Not so much taking you "away", but within yourself.
Love anything Pink Floyd! 🔥🎶🔥
You get it, too⚡️ 🤗💥
Howdy Lynn, fancy meeting you here.
@@glennbrock6560 What took ya so long to get here Glenn?. 🤗 🌓👋🏼
@@lynnhoffman247 lol, my giddyup got stuck in neutral
@@glennbrock6560 Glad it’s fixed, lmao
Geoffrey is right...Reaction to "Comfortably Numb" at the "Pulse" Concert is an absolute necessity. You'll love it!
I’ve been listening to Floyd for 50 years and your analysis is perfect! Could not have said it better myself! Thank you for sharing.
That’s for listening to them together like they’re meant to be listened to
The way I always described it is that Pink Floyd is that one band where their music matches their lyrics perfectly every time. They create an ambiance for their lyrics that delivers the emotion of it flawlessly.
Pink Floyd was very dedicated to their craft & it still holds up to this day…
Shine on you Crazy Diamond
Arnold Layne
Many songs from the WAll
Man there is just way too many songs, but I love that you enjoy their music, that warms the heart
You just can't miss with anything from DSOTM. Roger Waters on lead vocals on this track
To me "money" doesnt fit the album and is the weakest song on it
This album should be listened to all at once. Roll a blunt. Smoke relax and listen.✌️
Without Doubt, one of the best compositions Ever.
I am always amazed at how much I still love all the songs from this “phenomenally insanely good” album. Listening to this great song today transports me back to 1973 when U first heard it. I can still see the images they always play on the big round screen on stage at their concerts. It is truly a time machine. It is made to be heard as one musical unit. I still remember laying on the couch with black lights on. Put on the headphones and turned it up an away we went. Just incredible! Thanks for doing this one.
A good friend in 7th grade (early 70s) was going to put this on at a Christmas party in junior high. She warned me nothing would ever be the same musically.
She was right! To this day they’re my “higher place/higher state” band!
With their rich, dense aural tapestry Pink Floyd LITERALLY TRANSPORT THE LISTENER-regardless of race, nationality, financial status, sociopolitical background etc. on a transcendent voyage…
I was lucky in the EXTREME to have caught their 2 final tours. And that grande finale farewell tour…? It was and shall REMAIN THE BE ALL END ALL of live concert experiences!
It was limited due to the fact IT TOOK ONE WEEK-3 SHIFTS WORKING AROUND TYE CLOCK TO SET IT UP…
And yet…
THE MUSIC WAS STILL FAR MORE GRAND THAN THE LIGHT SHOW & EFFECTS!
I SINCERELY HOPE YOUVE WATCHED ALL OF THE PULSE DVD BROTHER! If not…DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO SO ASAP!
Let your MAGNIFICENT-AND EXPANSIVE MUSICAL JOURNEY CONTINUE! I’m in for the duration!! 👊🍻
Very good analogy!
You WILL be doing some live Floyd eventually, I hope. And I pray that it is Comfortably Numb from the Pulse concert. You will not believe your ears...or your eyes.....Another MAJOR Floyd trip is the album Meddle....especially the second side, which is basically one song....and it will take you on an unbelievable mental trip.....unlike any other music you’ve ever been exposed to.
If you watch this song on Pulse you can see on the screen behind the band pictures of various political figures at the time such as Thatcher, Nixon, Bush, fitting in with the lyrics suggesting they are the "lunatics".
Music is our most spiritual medium. It affects humanity in a way like nothing else does imo.
The whole album is about life from the being till the end.
Just watched a little piece of Pink Floyd in the studio where Roger Waters says the finished product is judged by whether or not it moves you. Yes, all pink floyd moves us and that is why they are in a master class.
your a good dude.... ty.... respect.... peace
Echoes from their album Meddle is the last track on that album which precedes DSOTM, the band has said that they felt it was the spark of creativity that became the basis for much of DSOTM, so yeah, it’s kinda necessary. Great reaction ✌️
Greatest album of history
Been a fan of Pink Floyd since I was 11 years and heard "The Wall", and as somebody who (fairly recently) went through a period where I really felt as though I was going insane (extreme insomnia, dissociative episodes, paranoia, auditory hallucinations & suicidal ideation), this song gained new meaning for me. Well, a large portion of Pink Floyd's catalogue is seen from a new perspective, really. And don't worry, the medication I'm on now is keeping me nice and level.
ite songs is still 'Obscured by Clouds' [ czcams.com/video/16V-wNwlTw0/video.html ], it's an instrumental, so you can focus on the instruments and the incredible talent this band possessed. Another epic track that is (mostly) an instrumental is 'One of These Days' [ is one runs for nearly 6 minutes, nearly double the length of 'Obscured by Clouds'. And you can fit the lyrics on the palm of your hand.
Love your channel boss, keep doing what you do.
Perfect reaction video! Thanks 😊
Curative
That's art.
Pink Floyd is more than a rock band, Pink Floyds' music speaks to your soul and spirit. Every song is a journey to enjoy and be inspired by! I've been a huge Pink Floyd fan since 1971, I was 15 at the time. I've seen them twice, I was very fortunate garner tickets to The Wall Performance in February 0f 1980 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale NY, Long Island.
The Wall is a historic Rock Opera performance like no other, and Pink Floyd only performed it a few times here in the States, mainly because of the enormous cost and monumental logistics the show commanded. Pink Floyd performed The Wall only 12 times in the US in 1980, 6 on the east coast, (Long Island)), and 6 on the west coast, (LA).
It's great to see young people like yourself listening to and enjoying the music I grew up on, for the most part, that was Pink Floyd.
How about reacting to something from their 1994 Pulse Concert,.....like "Comfortably Numb" or "Run Like Hell"
Amen! You get it!!!
This is sorta the final exam of Pink Floyd songs... by the time you get to this one, your life and mind should already be changed forever.
And you're there.
I know, because you went with the lyrics on this. You're looking for it, beyond what your subscribers wanna nod their head to.
I was there too, man. And its worth the trip. 😎
Explore the album animals, brace yourself
great channel...just found you....thank you, keep it going. you rock!
Check out Roger Waters October 2016 Mexico City live version of Pigs (3 different ones). A month & week until the 2016 debacle.
There's someone in my head but it's STILL me.... Love this ALBUM! The documentary on the making of it is amazing too.
There's someone in my head, but it's NOT me.
@@jack-1955 I know, I changed it for me.
Pink Floyd offers a experience to the listener not matter what your age is. If you haven't please listen the all of the Dark side of the moon in a sitting .Darkside of the Moon was on the charts for 736 weeks to be precise -- in July 1988, it finally fell off The Billboard 200. Add in a later run on that chart and another 759 weeks on the Top Pop Catalog Albums chart, and Pink Floyd, with this issue, reaches the staggering plane of 1,500 weeks on the charts.
I remember in 1983 when I was a junior in high school, and this album had been on the charts for 10 years straight. It was phenomenal, and it kept on going!!!
The best Pink Floyd song period!!!
That whole album is one continuous trip, every song is linked to each other, do yourself a favour, get to a quiet place for an hour and plug in those headphones
If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times...when you world turns to shit and you've had a crappy day, you come home, pour a scotch (or similar), or glass of red, drink that, pour another, drink that, then pour another one and go turn off all the lights. Put this record on. Go find a bean bag or deep leather couch, put your headphones on and sink down into it and sip away the final drink, and let the music sooth your soul !!!
@@gbsailing9436 Mine's a Jameson, 👍
Love this song and the whole album.🎶🤘💯👊
Greatest title of any long playing album! From one of the greatest groups ever!! One of life's moral lessons.....
I envy the people that got to experience how it was to run to the store to get a copy of this album when it was just released and put it on for the first time.
man, that must have been something.
They do it with talent.
They play at a specific frequency similar to when your brain daydreams or is about to go to bed.I don't remember the exact frequency but people have studied it.
Really good comments.
yes music is many things, distraction frm ones life is 1.
Pink Floyd albums are best listened to as such, album from beginning to end. The album is almost one song in 10 to 12 parts
This is the last song on DSOTM. Got to hear the whole album, bro!
Dark Side of the Moon was the first album I ever bought. I was 13 and have been a huge fan ever since. The album cover art is etched on my headstone. To me, it shows life. You come beaming into this world a narrow colorless light. Then you pass through life, the pyramid, and acquire experiences along the way. You leave life full of the color's or none. All representing each beautiful experience. The more color's you pick up along the way, you take with you. Or better yet, you pass on a color or two to someone else for them to experience. Here's a music video from Pink Floyds album The Final Cut. Here's a link to the song "The Fletcher Memorial Home". Thank you. czcams.com/video/zDDzR2zSgsM/video.html
IMO I feel this a masterpiece.
The one and only Pink Floyd
Check out "Echoes live at Pompeii",the bassline from Waters on that reaches down inside you and bashes you about, sublime all round from the band on that one.
latter years,i've been leaning towards Animals, what a stunning work that is.Next week,it could be The Wall,or DSOTM or Meddle, any of them.
Listen tho the songs original format the audio version first so you know what to expect...why? Because you lose a lot of the audio in the Pompeii version...all the over dubs and sound effects which make the 'real' song (the original) what it is, what the live version hope to live up to , but can never quite live up to. The audio version is the best in that sense...here: czcams.com/video/KBca3xf-j3o/video.html
You have to listen to the whole album from start to finish non stop
Music is great medicine,
Thank you Thomas Edison,
For giving us the best years of our lives ...
Pink Floyd makes you use your brain.
Waters is a great writer, no one sounds like Pink Floyd, they are really unique in what they do.
TIME !!!
when i first heard them, when this first came out, it was these songs that really got me hooked on them. i had just spent time in a mental hospital, having attempted suicide.
Play this album regularly when I want to escape. Beginning to end since it was released. It works every time..
Two bands that always, always take you on a journey: Pink Floyd and Tool.
Yet Another Movie
Music is medicine for the soul
awh oh! another addict....mainlining Floyd. I did some drugs in my youth, then pulled back to mary-jew-wanna, but am unable to break my addiction to good music. You might want to try some jazz, or classical. listen to Brahms 4th symphony or Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov.
chas and dave scuffy old cow ....best bass solo you will ever hear thank me later...tim
It;s actually three albums. Dark side of the moon, Wish you were here and The wall.
something like around 18 years straight on Billboard, oh yeah.
This sounds like it's about Syd Barrett.
I saw you've already listened to something by Pink Floyd, but I think you went random. On the other hand, your reactions seem more sincere than "many" others ... not to mention those who don't even realize the lyrics they listen to.
How come you started listening to TDSOTM from the end, however, eludes me. Who advised you so badly?
I know that my thought may appear "snobbish", but I certainly do not give up expressing it to someone who I think will understand it as I hope you.
The Dark Side Of The Moon is a concept album intended as 2 Suite (side A and side B of a 33 rpm vinyl) both composed of various Movements.
So it was conceived!
So it was provided to the public!
So it has been heard for decades!
... before the exasperated commodification of music reduced it to "stuff in minidoses spit out from a vending machine" ...
Give yourself the gift of listening to the whole LP ("Long Playing") in original version!
______
But the starting point to better understand the whole Pink Floyd adventure is found in the previous album. Echoes in “Meddle”.
You have three choices:
1 - the second side of the Meddle vinyl:
m.czcams.com/video/QvxUiK9apOQ/video.html
This is the studio version recorded between January and August 1971 (I listened to his “work in progress” live in Italy on June 19)
2 - the 2 parts (first and last track) of the DVD Film-Live "Pink Floyd at Pompeii", october 1971 :
m.czcams.com/play/PLqtNkQJqvJ6YtPjWF1NRZDYis4xgjnGs2.html
(but also the other songs deserve !!!)
3 - A spectacular interpretation in a recent truly "centered" video:

Sorry for poor english ...
new sub. gold content
Please react to Pink Floyd "Animals""
Yeah animals is great
This is one of my favorite tunes to play on guitar!!! I have a cover of this on my channel.
You might want to try out some Steely Dan ... great music production... I think you would like them .... anything off their Aja Album .... would start you off well
Your comment is perfect and precise!
You just have to play these two songs together, they flow together perfectly, like DSOTM in general actually.
Ya don't just listen to Pink Floyd you experience Pink Floyd
Not sure why this thought came to me now but, knowing that you are a drummer, I recommend you listen to “Empty” by Janet Jackson.
In that song, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis add new instruments and vocals in layers and the drums come in with a very unique time signature (the snare hits on a 3-4 and then a 2-3). It’s actually a very cool layer and I guarantee you won’t be able to forget it once you’ve heard it.
(And you know it’s an early 90’s tune because it starts out with the sound of an old telephone dial-up modem handshake that one had to listen in the early days of internet.)
Was this song written for Sid Barrett?
"The lunatic"" is Syd Barret founding member of Pink Floyd....he ha to left the band due to his mental issues ...
by the way..if you have the album Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon, and start playing it when Dorothy gets to Oz in the 1939 movie "Wizard of Oz"..it is amazing..it syncs up and is an awesome experience..I recommend trying it if you have the chance!!!
I don't know why or even WHO told you to listen to the end of the book first. It's like reading the last two pages and expecting to have some idea about the whole book. You really need to go back and start at the beginning. Listen to the whole album from beginning to the end...You can post all the music separately if YOU REALLY MUST, but you will do well to listen to it in order as produced, as everyone here will tell you, it all fits together that way!
Yeahhh Man led Zeppelin its a great band but pink floyd Is magic
I normally don't take the lyrics too seriously but Brain Damage is different. It is musically extraordinary and lyrically disturbing. It is hard not get drawn into the powerful words and not to imagine the nightmare of what mental illness sufferers must go through.
One song i would love to hear you react to is "Our Beautiful Hearts" by th group "The Ruffled Feathers" they are awsome and unfortunately very unknown
Listen to Animals...it will blow your mind but just do a bit of basic research about the album so that it will make more sense to you.
RW has said he only did acid a couple of times and I believe him. But it must have been helluva good acid....
The "how" is craftsmanship. Its a deep uncompromising obsessive attention to every detail, sadly to the point of eventually tearing the band apart.
As an example, I think is was "on the run" David Gilmour recorded a short multi note guitar sequence, sped it up and looped it. (back then, it took time to do)
Roger Waters came in, and completely rerecorded the entire thing.
David later admitted Rogers version was annoyingly much better!
Maybe today there are alot of music makers who sadly want fame and fortune, so it's getting harder to find artist who's primary goal is the art, but they are definitely out there, god bless 'em😍
REconmendations: Pink Floyd "Dogs" off the Animals album. REacting to the one with the lyrics is the best. No live stuff. Second: Pink Floyd "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" from the album "Wish you were here". My preference is the studio album on this second one. Some like the "Official Video" but for me the original studio version is best so you hear every note perfectly in those headphones. Both of these recomendations are long songs so you can do two or three pauses in the middle, it's normal stuff for a reaction and pink floyd well telegraph to you when the changes are coming up so you can pause at a good time. These two recomendation are for epic songs and I think they will knock your sox off. Many have said after listening to these songs your life will never be the same again.
Dogs is a masterpiece
"Animals" the best musical book.
Do a song from Meddle called Seamus.....you will find it a bit different.
Cerebral.
I like that , let me get my mind right ! See ya on the other side
Answer: Using hallucinogens as a conduit to the previously unknown.
Yess indeed we did; 10 of us together contributed approx 400-500 finest English hallucinogenic mushrooms with which we made cups of proper tea using mushroom water. We all nearly took off when the end of this album came at full tilt tripping. Early (very) 80s, happy daze. Time travel anyone?
Please check out Fantasy by Alda Nova you will not be disappointed and only time will tell by Asia
The why? because they can.
