Knies destroying tkachuk open ice with a reverse hit was my fav part of last night game
Right after Tkachuk tried to run him and failed too! Knew he was coming soon after and sat him down. Knies becoming more aware out there and it’s great to see with playoffs coming up!

For those wondering, in 1999 the Red Wings drafted Jari Tosla (4th round), Andrei Maximenko (5th round), and Kent McDonell (6th round) ahead of Zetterberg.
I liked Benoit on the Ducks but they needed to make room for their young defensive prospects to play this season like Lacombe, Mintyukov and Zellweger, who are all lefties like Benoit. I doubt Verbeek found anything wrong with Benoit, just a numbers game and he was the odd man out. Also the Ducks have only had 2 games with a fully healthy lineup this season. Pain.

As a goalie, if an announcer EVER says the word "shut out" they are influencing the outcome of the game, full stop, 100%. You can't even think the words "shut out" as a goalie without there being a good chance that screws it up.
Can't speak for "no hitter" in baseball, but in hockey, yeah, it's that big of a deal, at least to a lot of goalies I know

How can you be questioning Verbeek after that Drysdale trade. Y’all dedicated like three episodes to that trade and the implications. The Ducks have been brutal this year because of the injury bug. (they probably wouldn’t be in a playoff spot if they were healthy, but they would be much better than bottom three in the league) If we get another elite prospect in this draft and Verbeek continues to do his thing, we are going to be fine. Seems a little excessive to be questioning him over those two defenseman, lmao. I’m glad they’re having success tho.
Let’s not forget that we got a 1st round pick from Edmonton 😄 so let’s hope whoever this 1st round pick turns out to be that he’s a stud ( I’m a ducks fan too)

@@maxmartinez3172 The Leaf's and a ton of other teams have had a ton of injuries and still made it work. I say this as a Leafs fan who has heard that time and again about my own team from Leaf fans. You find a way to win.
@@ducksfan_1149 the ducks haven't been close to a playoff spof since 2017-2018, the last year they were in the playoffs. 2018-2019 they were 10 points out of a playoff spot and finished with the 8th worst points total that year out of 31. Since then, they have been bottom 5 in the standings in 4 of the last 5 seasons, with peaking at 7th worst in 2021-2022.
If the Rogers deal with Amazon does go through, is it going to mean that other countries are going to get monday night hockey as well?

Steve talking about guys getting used to new teams. We notice the same thing here in Carolina. Dougie Hamilton, Brady Skjei, Brent Burns, and Dmitry Orlov all were legit HORRIBLE when they first got here. Dougie and Brady figured it out their second year, while Burns and Orlov both looked like completely different players in the second half of their first seasons in Carolina. Its interesting how much a change of systems can mess with players.
Steve,Adam and Jesse, when Marner comes back what do you think of this as a third line, Knies Robertson Marner, since Robertson whats to earn a perm spot on the leafs line up, would it work?

Its funny that I agree and think Ottawa needs to make a big move, but unlike Buffalo/Jersey you can actually argue competent Ownership/GM can fix/modify the roster relatively quickly. You can't say their garbage and not give anyone post-Melnyk/Dorion at least one offseason to do something.

Red Wings getting Zetterberg and Datsyuk in late rounds points to a good scouting staff, but in particular good scouts in Europe for the leagues they were in. Also to some degree good development departments and practices.
Obviously still some luck, but having as much consistency as the Red Wings did in hitting on late draft picks requires a lot of quality work throughout the organization.
Guys Holmberg is not a defensive center look back at where he was on that goal. I'm not criticizing him but I think switching him out with Dewar would have been the better idea. Switching Holmberg, Mc Mann and Robertson out on the second line would not be a bad idea. You keep the three of them playing 2 of every three games in a top line spot and a fourth line wing will not hurt them.
Rundblad wasn't involved with Erik Karlsson. What you were thinking of is that Ottawa traded FOR Rundblad, giving St. Louis the pick they used to pick Vlad Tarasenko
I’m a Leafs fan from Detroit so I’m a little biased but the Red Wings have been off ever since the Joe Louis Arena closed. The team has had a weird vibe around them since moving to LCA.
The Preds went on to draft Josi in the second round that year as well, so it ended up being okay

15 teams didnt skip tarasenko, 14 teams did. Blues also had the 14th pick in which they drafted jaden schwartz. Yes they technically skipped him, but had tarasenko gone 15th, it would still be 14 teams that passed on him. Not to be picky about it, but as an avid blues fan, those 2 picks were the beginning of the stanley cup team, so i remember it well. Also technically we already had petro, but the buzz didnt start until jaden and vladdy were regulars.

I was at the game Adam, nothing about that win should encourage Leafs fans to think they have any shot at a playoff run.
1. The Powerplay was atrocious, no plan for zone entry, both wingers standing still, etc.
2. The first shift of the 2nd & 3rd period, they came out flat and got scored on right away
3. They allowed the Panthers to enter the zone at will with no pressure at the blue line
4. They have a size problem: Knies, Domi, Kampf, Dewar, Nylander, Timmins, Holmberg are all well under 6ft tall and
Wow so the Panthers must be really bad at hockey then. Imagine losing to a team like that.
