I feel like the easy picks are rangers and dallas. As a Dallas fan I can’t tell you the last time Dallas was ever favored in anything let alone the playoffs so this year has been strange after Colorado was eliminated. All of a sudden Dallas has a good team it seems and people are jumping on the bandwagon. It’s kind of strange. I’m excited to see some amazing hockey either way. Go stars! Panthers and oilers have chances to mount some huge upsets and break more than a few brackets.

Blues fan. We protected faulk krug and parayko, but we left tarasenko unprotected as he was at odds with the organization after his shoulder situation. Management was hoping (IMO), that seattle would take vladdy. Instead they took the younger cheaper no injury history dman vince dunn. They just signed krug and faulk, and parayko is (was) a big mobile dman and a fan favorite so it was those 3 by default that got protected.

The canucks shot totals were not good, 100% agree. But you cant say the shots they did get weren't high quality. The team's strategy is literally hold onto the puck and wait for a better look rather than a low percentage shot and risk losing possession. Their high danger chances to SOG ratio was high.

The thing about Mitch Marner is that, if you want to threaten him by putting him on the 4th line (or scratching him entirely), what's the first thing the Leafs are gonna do if they struggle? What happens if they lose their first 2-3 games of the season next year, you don't think Mitch gets a promotion? C'mon. So I mean, the viewer has a point. Mitch could just simply say he likes Toronto, doesn't want to waive his NMC, and wants to test free agency next year. That doesn't mean he WON'T waive it, but no one knows. There have been 0 credible reports about what Mitch's preference is. None. Zilch.

The Leafs might gain a lot more by trading Marner for a bunch of picks and prospects over vets and active players, the liberated cap space is what is important here and a classic hockey deal (player vs player) limits greatly the amount of potential dance partners. Freeing the 10.9 first opens up so many opportunities in free agency and/or for multiple smaller trades later on. Hell even if the Marner trade is underwhelming the Leafs might have the last laugh as long as most of the 10.9 is freed up.

No chance Marner is getting traded. First, he plays scared in the playoffs. That's the opposite of need. 2nd, he's a god in Toronto, and doesn't want to lose likes and clicks. So he's not waving. 3rd, he's way overpaid. Nobody wants Mitch Marner, not even his cocker spaniel.

Also I’m gonna need the boys to learn and put respect on the name of pending UFA defenseman Matt Roy. He’s arguably the best defensive defenseman on the market (yes even better than Pesce). He’s big, a right shot, physical, and is elite defensively. He’d be the perfect Rielly partner.
