  • Miter saws in general are one of the biggest offenders when it comes to dust in a woodworking shop, and the DeWALT DW716 & DWS716 are some of the worst. This zero-clearance insert has a hidden trick to capture and evacuate even more dust than normal to keep your workspace as dust free and safe as possible.

FOR THOSE WITH 3D PRINTERS: We finally have the STL files listed on the website! You'll get the STL files for all parts, including the replacement bracket, plus instructions. If you do happen to purchase them, any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Why does DeWalt pay inept engineers when they could just watch your channel for free?

I come to your channel because you either teach me something new or solve a problem - and most the time you accomplish both - well done and I hope these sell well for you.

  • @mxgonzy10

Glad to see punching holes through it and screwing it in wasn’t just my idea! When I bought my dust collection sleeve thing, I didn’t realize I had a DWS not a DW, like you pointed out in the video. Will be buying the zero clearance because I love the upgrade and I want to support you and your wife!

  • @scottyoungblood5148

I just discovered your channel and its Excellent!! Ive been a general contractor for years and I have to say, you have a great formula as to your presentations. Super informative without showing all the minutiae! I appreciate what you do! Thank you!

  • @james.a

I like how the boot bends and gets wider as you push down the saw blade. Makes it even more likely to catch the saw dust. Great work!

  • @jodilea144

I love seeing what people design and 3D print to solve issues such as this. Great job, Jody! I hope you sell tons of them! 🙂

  • @christianhull7999

I apologize if it’s been asked before, but if you bevel the saw, wouldn’t it cut through the bottom dust collection?

  • @bullfrogpondshop3179

Excellent work, as always! Very much looking forward to the dust collection on the 779!

  • @ifixbones

Appreciate all that you have done so far. I will sit tight waiting for you to tackle the DEWALT 779!

  • @waynemiller6070

I almost want to order one just to support the amount of work that you put into creating it. Nice job on the video.

  • @alanborack9256

Your videos are a gift to the weekend/retiree who likes to tinker with woodworking.....I cannot wait for the Dust Collection System for the DWS 779/780. The saw is awesome but what a mess it makes even with a hood I have for it. After cutting up a few pieces, I have to take my shop vac and clean up in/around/under the saw which sits on a miter stand I bought with the saw.

  • @richarddpetersen169

I dont even have a DeWalt, but impressed by your "dust collection" .... Well Done

  • @clutteredchicagogarage2720

Great work! This is probably the best miter saw dust collection solution that I've seen on CZcams. I don't have a Dewalt miter saw, but I'll try to replicate something similar for my cheap Ryobi miter saw at some point. I haven't used my 3D printer in a couple years, and I need to clean it up and tune it up after a move, but I do think that 3D printing is probably the best way to DIY this kind of bottom dust catching system for a miter saw.

I have a DWS780 compound saw. The one with the long tube in the back that people hate when they don't have a vacuum system. Dust still goes all over. Would be nice to find a better way but I don't think your system will benefit this model. I've tried to increase the "catcher' with rubber from innertubes but am only partly successful. Needs a better design.

  • @robertrobinson3597

I believe you have finally solved the Sawdust collection problem for Mitre Saws. Congratulations for thinking out of the box! I would like to do a similar solution for my older Makita LS1013L !0 inch mitre saw. I have been fighting the sawdust problem for years, with some successes here & there. I won't bore you with the details as you have demonstrated enough mistakes yourself. You have learned from them & that's what is most important that's what mistakes are for. Currently I have a 4 in diameter feed to all but one of my machines, ( Mitre Saw) which is connected to a collector with 2 micron filter. The Mitre saw resides in an enclosure which captures about 80 % of the dust. It is set up for the ducting to be added, BUT even if I can get 90% It just wasn't worth the trouble to run that Line. I have watched at leased a dozen Videos with great ideas that almost worked. Finnaly you solved the problem, I believe. Of course the geometry that fits the Dewalt saws almost certainly won't fit my Makita. But innovation doesn't have to stop here. I will purchase one of your gizmos and study it for the appropriate mods. It might just work for me. Those crafty Japanese figured out how th put the curf in the center of the insert on the Makita!

  • @meghanihamid

You have just taught me how to gain from a common problem. In your earlier episodes I have observed you look for new ways to solve woodworking problems like eliminating the need for a jig. However this time you have shown me your entrepreneurship and I am highly impressed by you. Well done.

  • @therealknightrider

I gave your solution a try. It really works! I’d say 95% or more of the dust captured. I’m so glad I stumbled upon this video. Thank you.

  • @KenCharlesTheGreat

Nice job, 3D printers are such a game changer in the world of shop mods !

  • @thorshuatus

Great work on figuring this one out! Now make one for my Delta Cruzer 12.
