Barn Find V8 Powered Go Cart Sitting for 15 Years! Will it run?!?

- A good friend was liquidating her father's estate and let me know that the family was ready to let go of a V8 powered homebuilt go cart that her father built himself 30 plus years ago. So me being the sucker for anything old and cool you know I had to load it up! Let's get it home and see if we can get it to breathe fire for the first time in well over a decade! I think the "Snootch Rocket" is way too much fun to part with at this time so you'll just have to get out there and build your own. As always, thanks for watching!

I could see this clearly was meant to be a Herman Munster dragster.....coffin maybe??
That's exactly what I thought when I first saw it!
I came here just to make this comment.Dragula?
Now that you mention it
It look's like a 1 way ticket to the cemetary already
@@burtbacarach5034 I absolutely love that name! "Dragula" 😆
that go buggy is what you get when you mix a bored farm kid, a junk car, a cutting torch, and a welder. frickin' fabulous!
Exactly!
It's a Long Winter for Farmers up north
This buggy is too awsome to see just once on the channel. Need more of it. Definately a part 2 is in order. Now i want to build one myself.
Stay tuned!
This thing is awesome. Definitely in for a part 2 on this with some quality of life upgrades. Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks! Will do!
Definitely need to bring this one back around. Also seemed like you were in your element and having fun on this one. That's good to see!
Will do
What in the Pott County is going on in ND!
You don't worry about what we got goin on up here!
WOW!! I felt that head knock at 01:17:00 right through the television. Glad you seem to be OK. Love that you show us all the success and all the pain. Great go cart and a blast of a channel!! Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@MortskeRepair I find they hurt a lot - but if I'm going to sustain an injury, it might just as well be to a part I don't use too much. :P
@@johnw5242 Good idea!
That was such a mullet filled incredible and iconic tribute to the original owner!!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it GRand!
All you need is a leather jacket, mohawk, and eye patch and you and Duff will be ready for the next Mad Max movie!
Would we have to call it “Mad Duff”?
@@MortskeRepair I could loan you a Max.
@@WatchWesWork I do have a mouse problem that needs addressing.
Seeing this thing makes me think the owner/driver has at least one relative who's last words were "Hey y'all, watch this!"
Right before he said “Hold my beer.”
Hold my 🍺beer!! Lol
Hold my Sammich! 🤣
Hold my beer, lol.
I thought that was 'here, hold my beer .."
Great go kart! Definitely a tune up and you can NEVER drive her without the mullet! 😆 also....Doggles for Duff! Keep his eyes safe on those dusty rides!
Doggles, ? Brilliant!!!
The mullet was a sight to behold. Lol. I LOVE the go-kart. Some gauges, a few accessories and this thing is the making of a CZcams legend rig!
Love it mortske!..we need more wacky builds like this...got me laughing this morning brother!....Monday always socks less with a good laugh...thank you...seriously more of this thing it's awesome !
AGREED 🇺🇸🍺🍺🍺
Very entertaining, nice change of pace. I would like to see it again with all your planned upgrades.
Coming soon!
That's cool, rat rod style 🤙🏻. So much fun. I think just build it up with junk you find, nothing fancy 😁. Mortske even had a smile again, second episode in a row 🤣🤣🤣
Can't believe those zoomies aren't throwing flames..... love it man!!!
I love the go cart! The Keystone Klassics add a lot to the build. I especially like the
Chevy Vega bucket seats🤣! I could see me driving it around town! ❤️
This is definitely a product of 1960's hot rod car culture, home made right out of popular mechanics magazine.
Thanks Mortske! I originally thought that it was just good for the engine, but after seeing you letting it rip and having fun, then this thing needs to live on, with a 4 barrel, lincoln locker and handbrake for extra fun!
That is absolutely the greatest field hoopie I’ve ever seen Duff dog does not know what he’s missing lol, and I love the improvements Mortske ,great video
It is pretty good!
Definitely a four barrel and maybe a trailer hitch, a small trailer for all the parts and cooler hauling fun. Maybe a tonneau cover style roof of some kind for weather protection for the old noggin, I could see this going in a lot of directions.
Brilliant!
If its a trailer it has to be the box off an old Chevy square body.
@@blaircrocker9845 Oh, now we're getting picky!
Nah, just go find an old military jeep trailer and replace the pintel loop with a ball coupler.
Love these kinds of build, fun to watch and extremely funny! love the videos Mortske!
As soon as I seen this thing, I thought "kit-car" platform!
This will make a great Ed Roth inspired hot-rod!
You could even get a Rat-Fink costume for when you drive it! (like special events, or even in your livingroom, lol)
It would be awesome to see this thing get the full treatment!
Body panels that make it look like a '36 Ferd coopay! LOL
318 Chrysler, 327 Chevy, and 289 ford ...I love small V8s. I would definitely love to see another episode on this cart.
Starting off Monday morning on the right foot! Thanks Mort.
Our pleasure Doug
I'd mount the light bar down in front like a front bumper :) Get offset washers for the wheels (maybe it'll make that one a little rounder?) Also liking the trailer hitch idea, makes it useful for pulling stuff around. You could 5th wheel it and do a tow-off with Pudding lol.
Brilliant!
Built one of these when i waz in high school. Just a bunch of leftover parts, plywood floor, bench seat, just a rolling deathtrap. Had a lot of fun with that thing.
Awesome!
Hahahahaha. The pedal return spring was the chuckle I needed today. We are all imperfect….just some more imperfect than others….don’t worry Mortske you’ll “rebound” 😂😅😅😂😅🤣
It happens!
A few things for tech inspection and a few upgrades, this thing would be a viable burnout comp buggy
This was the best episode ever. What an awesome go-cart!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Oh my god I'm not sure why but I want it. A 4 barrel , posi , and the tink tinks so cool. Put an old tractor grille and nose on the front.
That thing is freaking awesome Great for ripping around love this Light bar awesome touch
The back tires should have mini fenders to prevent rocks from hitting you in the head
Front to!
Straight up pipes are good for ruining the engine if rain ever gets in .
@@randallcarney1216 soup cans
Love the Galactic go cart. I wouldn't mess with the engine much. Intake and carb for sure. I could see you scratching around and finding some old A model fenders, front and rear. I love the keystones. You might even find a A model firewall with a windshield, or even one off of a Jeep. Posi rear a great idea. It might be a good follow up project for channel 2.
Lovin the Cart.
Funny that you mentioned this....the Model A fenders are exactly what I was thinking too. They wouldn't really add anything performance-wise , but it might keep
some gravel out of your teeth. As far as a windshield....I was thinking of maybe something off of a wrecked Goldwing or other type of motorcycle. Lots of Fun !
Rat rod
Whatever you do to it, I will watch. The four barrel intake sounds good. That and new gears for the rear end.
Good luck with it and we'll all be watching!
Thanks Andrew!
You gotta love the “Mortske Mullet Mobile”!!!
That thing has "missing limb" written all over it!!! But the grain truck is keeper!!!
Straight up death trap!
Agree with all that.
It's fine!!!
What the French, toast is a very appropriate phrase for this go kart.
Beyond Cool! After adding a few safety upgrades you can take it to a track.
I was sitting here thinking "shouldn't that have a return spring?" and then that little light dimly lit above everyone's head lol I second the Herman Munster idea. There are a lot of neat ideas that can be done with this beauty.
You should rig up some big round head lights on it 😂
Maybe not necessarily some big headlights - but some kind of fabricated "nose cone" or crazy grill to cover the front of the radiator.
Weld together some pieces from three or four different junkyard grills and make something wild ! Even a little pinwheel that spins in the wind !
This was pretty damn epic. Mullet cam made it even better.
Son of a biscuit..! That rig is hotter than a ‘57 Chevy on a hot summer night with a busted radiator in the California desert..!🍾
I truly enjoy all your programming Mor t n crew and get a kick out of your delightful sparkling personality..it's part of why I choose you seriously. I'm laughing with you here and I've done it myself more than once..the head hanging into the overhead door thing..I giggled pretty good over that one!
Keep up the good work!
Wow, thank you!
Looks like a freaking blast ! I’m not sure what I’d do but the possibilities are endless from do nothing to total rat rod ! To bad viewers can’t send parts for the build , something they’d like to see on it like a steamer trunk on the rear or a toilet in the middle and thanks for the shout out and nice words !!!
Let's hope they send neither of the above! Thanks for the gas pedal tho!
That is so Mad Max. What a cool barn, almost tidy and not overcrowded with total crap.
Ha! 8 tractor tingers, I love it. I want one of these!
Love the one finger wave on the test drive like doesn’t everyone have a convertible?
Probably the local police man going the other way 🤠
You know it!
That is one of your coolest rides ever Mortske!! Badass cart. Just too cool. Big Al.
Thanks Al
Just in case you haven't heard it enough in the earlier comments, tack the whole assembly before you finish weld or finalize the assembly, this applies to all welded assemblies
Mortske that was worth the price of admission Excellent video specially when you’re walking in the door LOL
Glad you enjoyed it!
That looked fun as hell. The mullets return was a cool surprise. The yes no, was good name for a mullet, Mississippi mud flap
Content 7 out of 10, Commentary solid 10 out of 10. This is the first video of yours watched, won't be the last.
Much appreciated Andre
Fun stuff ! I'll bet this video gets alot of views. Mortske's fab shop. Giving old Puddin a run for his money.
I hope it does!
I cut the body off a 60’s model VW Bug and mud grips and I’d get out in the rice fields and jump those levees, with the engine in the back and no need for a radiator! It was wild and addictive brother, throw mud 25 feet in the air! Bad to the bone and body gone the tires were pigeon towed, freakin ran like a bat outta hell! Thanks again brother! 👌🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🇺🇸
Hey Duff - you’re one smart pooch. Keeping you’re distance from your hooman’s death machine!
Best you say your goodbyes. The fun police will be carting him away pretty soon.
Definitely a sick project for hooning around in! Some shorter gears + hydraulic handbrake and this thing will be a ripper.
that headbang on the low door was priceless , that should be on utube ha ha!
Ugh
4 barrel carb, 8-71 blower, upgrade ignition, exhaust flaps, 4.11’s and a posi.
Great video!
Oh hell yeah!!! It's another MULLET MORTSKE MONDAY!!!!
Your mullet drive had me laughing almost as much as the hood flying up episode. Awesome. Man that thing looks fun!!! Sounds awesome too. Very fun man! Tink Tinks would be epic... just saying.
Perfect candidate for Lincoln locker. Definitely tink tinks
No doubt!
Don't forget those lugnut "warsher's"!! Also, this thing is just SCREAMIN' for an old school zoomie exhaust flame kit 😉
Good idea!
As a proud Canadian I can tell you NO, we do not all call them Bunny hugs or what ever that term is. They are hoodies. That other name must be a Manitoba thing. And thank you for bringing back the Mullet, your timing is impeccable Sir!!
Went to Mortski Repair today...
Salvatore Dali, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Wile E. Coyote roared out of the shop!
Great change-up Mort...Love the Duff!
Glad you enjoyed it
I think a roll cage and safety belts are a must for ya Mortske... especially after watching you taking your test drive 😂 (glad the Duffster was not along for the ride! 😬
That brought back so many memories. .LOL yeah brother 💪 🙏
🤙
No mosquitos when driving that thing. Plus you'd be a good neighbour to have and you mention other good channels to follow. Shows you care about other folks. Take care, bud.
Thanks mitch!
WOW! That thing is too Kool! Don’t forget the gauges & tach! Just for the fun of it hook up the shoulder harnesses, make it look like a two seat dragster! Gotta figure out something for The Duff to sit in/on too! Hey, thanks for the Great video!
Safety glasses and welding hat gave me a Macho Man Randy Savage vibe for a minute. Ooooooh yeah!
haha nice
Just need a supercharger, Mohawk and a cow catcher front bumper and you’ll be ready for the next Mad Max movie.
I dig it!
I loved to see all the good natured griefing amongst the fellas along with some fun times. Really enjoyed the video...And we need more Mojo, he's a hoot!
He's something!
This one is a classic one you can watch over and over again.looks like you enjoyed making this one
Sure did!
Wowsers. That just looks like a whole lot of fun.
Sure is!
Taking me awhile to watch this but loving every bit of it Mortske
Much appreciated
Damn. Kool damn vehicle!
Add the shoulder harness.
And pebble screen for passenger. Or front wheel bike fenders made from some odd scrap metal (like no parking sign)
Go rat rod go kart.
Here’s an idea. A detent so you don’t shift into Park whilst going 60. Woo friggin hoo! Nice ride Mortske. Make room for Duffers. Little cage action. Ear muffs and goggles for Duff?
I saw a guy use compressed air to fix the spray paint problem. He held the can upside down and blew compressed air into the can through the spray nozzle. It repressured the can and it was good to go. FYI
That thing looks more fun then streaking through the quad! Heck yeah
We're goin streakin!
Fun vehicle!! The less you spend on it the better though, because in my homemade toy experience, after the initial fun time, they end up in the corner of a barn. I had Keystone mags and Mickie T L60s on my 68 442. BTW, if you ever run across a '68 442......!
Kind of like how this one sat... Would love to find a 442!
Still love the intro. Lol
The mullet kills me. 😂
Who’s the band? Stinky and the grease pigs?
Jegs has some cheap plastic harness seats, thanks for putting a smile on my face on a Monday, love that thing
Our pleasure
I like your closing music Mortske, very cool brother!
Glad you enjoy it!
That's some mad max stuff..
Hell yeah Mortske, she's badass! Can't blame you for not wanting to get rid of that rig. Looks like a lot of fun. As usual, another awesome video. Totally love your channel Mortske. Keep up the great content. Always keeps me riveted. Keep On Motoring Brother!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks, will do!
That light bar is perfect. 👍
You can always add more.
That's the plan!
You put a spool in it then you'll be getting wheelies. And wheelie bar🤣 I see some very fun future content this thing is a gold mine good thinking Mortski 👍
Tink tinks a must, posi rear end, horns on the front, tail on the rear.
Yup, that’s a hoodie 👍🏼 and a nice one at that.
I'm in love with this buggy.i want it haha.well done.
Thanks for another great video, Mortske! Your "go-kart" brought out my inner child. now I've gotta find a small block and salvage chassis to build one of my own!
Go for it!
This was pure joy to watch. It must have been a hoot to drive it and it made me think "Munster" as well. All it needs now is a good carb or fuel injected throttle body, a BLOWER (maybe?), and a couple of Pool Noodles hugging those side rails for rib comfort.
On a serious note, forget the wigs. You should protect yourself and wear a helmet for these drives in that particular "vehicle".
Reason: A Grasshopper to the forehead will knock you out at 60 mph.
( Imagine what a bird can do? )
That happened to me on dirt bike. All I remembered was one second, I'm riding abreast to the Corn, enjoying the breeze and the next... waking up, on my back on the pave and no bike to be seen. It was off in the Corn. 😆... smashed grasshopper all over my forehead.
I'd hate to think where that rig would end up with you or anyone strapped in it under those conditions. Duff needs his Mortske around a lot longer and so do the rest of us.
That thing is awesome! Glad to see the mullet again!😂 OMG! I’m still laughing! 😂🤣😂🤣
He finds the coolest old stuff. He read my mind I was thinking that thing really needs a temp gage while he was ripping it.
Always remember to lift the door above your head. Tech tip of the day folks.
Much appreciated
Omgosh!!!!! This is freaking cool!!!!!!
Do a part 2 for sure!!!! Hope your ok lol 🤕 ❤️🩹
Loveeee to Duffers!!!! 🥰🥰
Love the madmax cart vibe and my 22 year old daughter has got the world's biggest crush on you. Keep the cart vids coming
Oh boy, you better straighten her out!
@@MortskeRepair my size 12 timberlands has got that covered lol 😆
Mad Max Thunder dome. One of the quickest will it run video's I've seen you do, didn't even need a starter. Entertaining as always
We deserved an easy one for once!
Can we have a moment of silence please for the dewaukee. Thank you for your service 🤣

Ridgid 18 volt Hammer Drill 👍
I mix light mud, grout, thin-set & drill holes
Have to admit, I wasn't thrilled with this one at first but this thing looks like a BLAST.
Please do more with it & try to get Duff to warm up to it.
Put duff in a harness and helmet with glasses
Will do
I always look forward to Mortske Monday! A great way to unwind after a terrible day of work lol. 🍺🍺
That's about the easiest I ever saw a vehicle go on and off your trailer! 😁😁
You got that right!
