- I discovered this 1957 International Metro box van online and went to check it out. Since they're so cool and relatively hard to find in decent shape and are popular with the car crowd I had to drag it home! It had been sitting in the same spot for 18 years but hadn't been registered to drive on the road since 1975!!! If you're interested in owning this gem reach out to us at the email below. I have the title for it, it's in the same condition shown in the video. It could be all yours for only $5000! As always, thanks for watching!

Shortbread. Especially if it is lowered! Love the exposed wiper mechanism in these too.
I dig it!
It does resemble a loaf of bread 😂
@@jhawk1985 and it's a breadvan
@@thatmaverickguy859 Yea I know what a bread truck is. My pops was a bread man for flowers bakery for over 10 years. Remember riding in his bread truck when i was very young. I just said it looks like a loaf of bread

I can't believe the grill and emblems are still on that rig. I would love to wheel that around my neighborhood and give the HOA overlords an aneurysm. Never seen throttle linkage through a block before, that's wild.
The only other vehicle I’ve seen with throttle linkage through the block is a Ford Model T.
that linkage is hooked to a governor. Like a Briggs and Stratten.
OMS in Strategic Air Command (SAC) would have been Organizational Maintenance Squadron. That's the squadron for the crew chiefs assigned to and maintain the aircraft on the ramp. They do the preflights, postflights, refuelling, defueling, launch, recovery, and cleaning.
Sounds right! They also used those vehicles to take the crew back and forth to the aircraft. Probably Ellsworth, Grand Rapids or Minot Air Force bomber wings.
Should call that 57 IH the Peacemaker, after the Corvair B36. They would have been using them from 1946 to 1959, before the B58 Hustler and the B52 Buff came online in the 60's.
Thanks for the info!

Navy L.S.E. confirm 🥶🐲
The dormant workhorse intended to slumber its way to no return, but was awakened as its condition was no challenge for the seasoned, veteran, brilliant mechanic to overcome. Magnificent!
Thanks for the kind words!
Since there are indications that thing was in Rapid City ( the rebuild tag on the engine) I’d say it was probably at Ellsworth AFB and the script on the side was probably something like the 28th Bomb Wing or a numbered Bomb Squadron of some sort. Cool rig either way.
I've been waiting for this episode for so long! My grandfather bought a 61 metro (a former fire rescue truck) over 20 year ago. The truck is still in my possession. I have very fond memories of he and I going to shows and the Jefferson swap meet in it.
Very cool!
Another Wisconsinite? Greetings from Watertown.
@@robertschumacher2707 yes sir!
So do I! Thanks for posting Josh. I was thinking about that lovely old van all the way through this video. I was with your Grandad when he bought it from a landscaper in Hartford Wisconsin. They had gotten it from the Neosho Fire Department.
"The starter will be easy to fix" It's not like we haven't heard THAT line before. LOL
Awesome. Plus we enjoy watching Sleeperdude with Rocky and the fam. Thanks for mentioning them!! Still love the 57 frig!!
Glad to hear it!
She sounded awesome! Aerosmith had the same van as their first tour vehicle, which was found in return to them by American pickers. I bet if you send the video of that van to Steven Tyler he would probably be interested in buying it, He can well afford to 😂 anyway thanks for another great video and keep up the good work 👍☮️🇺🇲
Man, I can’t speak enough how often I think of all the things you say through out my day especially when I’m driving and bust out laughing. I find your videos remind me of when I was a young child watching shows like Captain kangaroo and local afternoon shows with a cool guy doing cool things while learning something. I am grateful for the hard work you do and of course Duff…
Glad you enjoy our content!
Another epic test run 😮 you’re a far braver man than I, sir! Much respect ✊
Sweet metro! They truly were"international" using fuel systems and ignition components from various manufacturers and countries
ALLRIGHT MORNING DRINKIN’ IN THE HOT TUB AND A NEW EPISODE OF DUFF N’ MORTSKE!!! WOOHOO!!!😜
The "tin grille" name was aimed at the 72 to 80 dodges but it's cool to hear it from the big time famous tubers. That bed/trailer was from a tin and looked pretty straight, getting harder to find all the time. Thanks for all the great content.
Our pleasure!
Great job bringing the van back to life. You even had it going at a decent clip just before 1.08:00. The Duff Cam is the cherry on the cake. :-)
Thanks John!
Not sure what is more entertaining, watching you fix things or listening to you talk.
Love to watch! Happy you got the van running! GODS BLESSINGS TO YOU & YOUR FAMILY 🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️❤️🏆🏆😎😎
Very interesting. Great job on getting the old bombed out bread truck running. Keep up the great work.
Kinda nice that everything is right there in the cab. I remember my dad adjusting timing and the carburetor in his dodge tradesman while going down tje road.
Good times!
All it needs is a giant ice cream cone on the roof and some carnival music on the PA!
Too bad there wasn't any of those in Iola this weekend!
When that Metro was new, Eisenhower was President, the world respected and feared us. Those days are long gone! You and Duff keep up the good work 👍.
Will do!
Love metros!....dude...you need to make it a mobile mortske repair van ...and have it all fitted out with tools and air so when you go do revivals you got everything you need ! Schaweet man!
Best idea yet!!!
Personally, I'm not a fan of using brake cleaner as a starting fluid because it washes the oil from the cylinders. Yes, the propellant in the can may be flammable (propane / butane) but the actual fluid is not. Burning it will just about choke you to death compared to choke / carb cleaner. (ask me how I know)
Every time you play the spark test clip, just cracks me up ! Thanks for the update too !😂 It’s alive !!👍🏻👌🏼
Old 70s SWAT television show used a Metro van. Those vans are sweet, no matter what year.
That’s one of the most hilarious episodes I think I’ve seen of yours in a long time it was so comical to see you driving that metro. Thanks for the laughs👍🍺🍺🤣
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank God for Mortske Monday! Great relaxer after a stressful day at work!
Thank you again for the shout out. Rocky appreciates it!
Our pleasure Rocky!
That thing has so much potential ❤
I agree 💯
Yeah, 12 volts.
Finally!!! I’ve been waiting for this one! I love it!! Got into huge argument with “She who must be obeyed” over this one. I want the Metro. She wants new Pro Via doors for the house. Guess who ain’t takin a ‘57 Metro to Hot Rod Power Tour ‘23!!
This was a neat one to see.
Nice episode. This old Metro is definitely fun in so many ways.
That throttle linkage through the block is pretty weird. I had one of the Chevy versions of this type of van and it had the 17.5 split rims on it. Nobody would mount tires on the wheels for me but I found an old timer who did it. Drove it for a short time as a work van (mobile marine) but it proved impractical and I sold it to someone that turned it into an ice cream van.
A Classmate's Dad was a plumber and had 2 Metro's one for parts and one he drove for his job.
Your classmate's dad was a smart guy.
@@johnm.5848 In the early 90's I ended up buying their old 64 Impala 4 Door Sedan with 2 speed powerglide and 2V 283 V8 used Mobile oil had so much buildup we tired running diesel fuel in it. Ended up doing a rebuild engine I think had 90,000 on it.
I get a good chuckle out of you and puddin taking the piss out of each other 😆
These things are so cool! Seen a few restored, most bagged, and v8 swapped but all wicked machines.
I find that starting fluid works pretty good for starting.
From the hints in the comments and looking at the pictures, Ellsworth AFB, 28th OMS (Organizational Maintenance Squadron), no doubt this comment will get buried
I think you’re right
Awesome Awesome, the look on your face when you backed it out of the shop was priceless. So so happy lol
What all you guys do for hobbies is amazing
Sticky Bomb!! I love those old vans!
Awesome save!!
I would love to find one of those! That could be made into one cool rig! Love it! 😊👍
Gotta say with all the good work I still say Duff is my favorite part. And the way you and him are best friends makes me miss my shepherd so bad she was just like Duff.
I have been waiting and waiting for this one to come up. Once you got the new shop I knew it was a matter of time. I CAN’T wait to watch. Keep it up Mortske!
Will do!
That was great fun to watch. I think it’d make a good mobile workshop for someone with a fairly modern engine swap restomod style it would make a useful parts hauler too.
Thanks Mortkse and Lord Duffenstein.
Very good condition. Mine was a Pennsylvania rust bucket when I got it. Kept everything original. Love the sound of old truck sixes.
Yay mortske Monday is here! I love Sleeperdude! And I really dig the Metros!!! This is fun!
I call that AWESOME!!!! What a find!!!! That would be so cool to build!!! Great video!!!!
Love to Duffers 💕💕
Sir I just wanted to thank you for your videos .recently I just started a 1968 el camino that sat for twenty six years. I used I Lot of your techniques to get it going.thank you very much.watching you and puddins fab shop grow awesome you both deserve it.
Much appreciated! Good luck with your ElCamino!
The Bombi Metro. Finally coming to life. Aside from bagging it, fix it up with a motor and all and polish up that patina. Use it as a parts hauler. Cool little box van
Mortske the ice cream man! Love it!!!!
That’s the sweetest sounding six banger I’ve ever heard
That's Awesome, My Pops had an old metro parked about the same time, it was a retired snap on tool truck.
28th OMS Ellsworth AFB - it is fun to watch you go through all the same steps I did when I was a working stiff (SFC 38th OMS, Calif National Guard)
I love the Duff can. Thank you for sharing that sweet boy with us. Thank you for being you.
Our pleasure!
Just like deja vu all over again. I bought a 1970 stationwagon driven 10 years and then parked in a small garage. I reallly just wanted the 454 and 400 trans. 6 hours to get it out of the garage. Was buried to the roof of the garage. I first got the hood open and the engine rolled over. Then I unloaded garage and car. Loaded the wagon. All four brakes were locked. I used aluminum signs and oil to just winch it on the trailer. Repacked the garage and left. Monday morning I found out the garage the wagon was in collapsed. Haha
Fun times!
Yeah, i guess they lost the shop
I love it!! It’s the mad metro.
This one is seriously one of your best videos.
Thanks David!
Cool! Glad you got it going. It looks like the original Aerosmith tour van.
Love ta see ya redo it completely
Mortske's Yesca delivery services.
It's da bomb. 👀 👨🔧
Duff loves you!!❤
Thats a pretty cool van! Cant say id have any use for it, but it would be sweet to cruise around in. Great job as always!
Mortske, get an old squrty bottle with a good dash of dish liquid and fill it with water when changing old tires. It will make life real easy....
Really enjoyed this one. You probably don't realise how inspirational you are to people like me who are truly incompetent when it comes to mechanical stuff. It took me 2 hours to change the battery on my old clunker today. But I persevered and got the job done. The thing that kept me going through the whole debacle was your ethic of not giving up. So thanks Mortske. Damn thing will probably catch fire, but hey ho, I gave it my best. Keep up the great work. Best to Duff too.
Our pleasure!
That's a cool looking beast of a van. Nice. UK.
Ultra cool Metro box van , She have a lot of character and a hidden history 4 sure ! All she need is a modern drivetrain and bag her on Delmo steelies .
I've loved those vans since I was a little kid, and I'm 60 now. The laundry service, milkman, bread truck, and the Charles Chips potato chip salesman all drove these through our neighborhood every week.
Thanks for saving it!
All the cool kids had one!
With that fancy paint job, Rainbow Warrior would be a fitting name
Had a 51 my son's mother and me ,traveled all around the US. 70-72 What a wonderful time we had. Wish it could have lasted. Recall those times fondly
Nice
Their you go another kick ass thing. Love the look....
Great camper potential. Love that air ride driver seat.
Sweet ride. So many options for that rig. Good job Morskey.
Thanks William!
Great episode. Appreciate your efforts.
Poor Duff...works 24/7/365 either guarding or putting dinner on the table with his hunting prowess !
Our pleasure!
This would make the coolest camper van .❤❤❤❤
As always a great video. You all are an inspiration with the will it runs…I look so forward to mondays!!
Thanks so much!
Metro Spirit rides again ! The employee of the month has to be positive no one ever said you had too ! Great content Van-life !
Back in the early '80s my dad bought a 65 international Metro that looked almost identical to the one here. But it was mechanically operable. If I remember right it had a 300 cubic inch 6 cylinder and a four-speed tranny with a very granny low. We affectionately referred to it as the ugly truck as we had several trucks at the time. This brings back some memories.
Awesome. Thanks
Hi Mortske I hope you do more with the metro. Keep up the great work and god bless
Will do!
that drive was top 5 alongside the flying hood one! great episode as always!
Thanks Vincent!
Another awesome find and revival! ✅ You guys are da 💣 diggety!!!
Restore it, as it's got some history that once gone can never be replaced.
Another success! Cool van 🚐
Mortske keep up the great entertainment and that little jab at Puddin 😀. It took a little bit, but it's running and driving. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻. Have a great week ✌️
Thanks for watching and commenting!
hi there mortske love the metro i think they are awesome she sounds great looks good love to see her fixed up great video content as ever cannot wait till the next video be safe
Mortske, for a grump, you're alright. I wouldn't be mad seeing another video on the Metro. Good call on Sleeperdude too. Despite his unhealthy obsession with Ford Fairmonts, he's got a good channel over there.
Sure does
Me 11th bomb squadron B52H Crew Chief Barksdale Air Force Base Louisiana 96 to 2000. We ran around the flightline in Air Force blue Chevy cube vans. But that thing is super cool and the fact that it from the 28th bomb squadron Ellsworth is absolutely icing on the 🍰
"Bomber van" I think is a good name ,hope you guys get it running, nice little and exotic vehicle...
Fantastic educational video for those people out there that have never driven a manual before 😂….. let alone operated a carburetor by hand while trying to manually drive a vehicle that doesn’t have much of a clutch or gears. BRAVO god sir!
Glad it was helpful!
Sweet find! Defiantly two thumbs up!
Great video thanks a lot. Made my morning. Appreciate your time.
Thanks for watching
Been watching sleeper dude for a very long time awsome channel great family oriented channel
Glad you enjoy it!
Another great video Mortske! Thank you.
I just watched Puddin’s video also, so happy for him and his families awesome new property and shop. Well deserved. All the best to you and Duff…have a great week! 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@jerryriggs6911 I use to watch a little of sleeperdude but not a fan of content creator’s having their kids in the video’s I want to watch cars and trucks and motorcycles being fixed not meet the family every episode. Andrew Camarata, Mustie1, Diesil Creek, Junkyard digs, and a few others are good but Mortske would have to be my favourite creator on CZcams and his videos are long format which is what I prefer.
@@jerryriggs6911 That’s cool I might give sleeperdude another watch. This N That Garage is another good one. There is quite a few. 2vintage also ok. Yes I like the lawn mowing ones also…James Condon is good he fixes generators. Cheers have a good weekend 👍🏼
I really enjoyed that one Mortske.. them old sixes you just can’t kill them, love the ice cream man part, had me cracking up.
As always carry-on
Absolutely love these sketchy test drives! LoL I cannot count how many sketch test drives I've taken because i just couldnt wait any longer and just "gots ta know"!
Well here go my productivity this afternoon. Lunch with Mortske and Duff. Enjoying the video.
Sorry!
I'd love to see you do the rear main and clutch. Great van. Great video!
Metro alive good job
That's probably the coolest truck you have to date! 😆🤘
Thanks
That thing is so cool !!
Another collaboration with Puddin I can’t wait for! Y’all are at the top of my list for content creators!
Much appreciated
