    That "carburetor spacer" is for the positive crankcase ventilation system. It just uses the engine vacuum to scavenge crankcase vapors to make the engine "burn cleaner" and to not blow oil vapors all over the valve covers/engine bay

    • @travistuttle9274
      @travistuttle9274 Před 2 lety

    • @thecollectoronthecorner7061
      @thecollectoronthecorner7061 Před 2 lety

      Yes it keeps vapors from entering atmosphere. Just as importaint it keeps the vacuum from the PCV from sucking fine dust particles into the crankcase thru a vented oil fill cap.

    A few years ago I rescued a 71. Pull the plug off the keyswitch and use a jumper with two male spades from BAT to IGN to turn on. Make another spade wire and plug one end into S(tarter), other end is touched momentarily to BAT. Those switches are impossible to remove without the key or a lockpick. The feed wire was broken off inside the loom and missing from the stud on the fender. Scratched my head for a while until I figured out there was no other main feed. Had to put on a Q-jet since previous owner had rigged up a wonky 2bbl on an upside down 4bbl adapter plate covered in silicone. Windshield header was almost completely rusted out from the meece and the floor and disintegrated seat cover were carpeted with turds. Driver door falling off, P/S pump shot, seized brakes. Fun times. Your truck is still fairly solid compared to that one.

    Good choice on this pickup, Mortske. I remember riding around in a neighbor’s 69 GMC. It was a metallic green, and a great truck.

    Great job fighting the starter! It looks like you have a pretty good driver with some front end work and a carb rebuild. You could keep it if you want it, and you certainly would have no trouble selling it.

    Man I love the 67-72 GM trucks i had several of them when i was younger. My father got me one for my 13th birthday that we worked on for when I turned 16. Sadly he passed away before we got it finished but i finished it and took it for my driving test to get my license. Then the truck got stolen 3 months after I got my driver's license. I would love to have another one but everything in my area they want an arm and a leg for and they look like they been sitting in a lake for 20 years. As for what to do with this one well besides donating it to me lol I would just clean her up and run it. That seems like a great truck to use for running parts and running round town. I hate the tool box in the beds also all they seem to do is cause even more rust problems. I definitely hope we see more of this truck! Thanks for sharing you are becoming my favorite channel to watch on here glade I came across the channel! Thanks again!

    I'm not a GM guy but that old truck has potential, however all those little things add up in cost. I know you have several trucks so if it were me I'd do minimum to get it road worthy and it would make a great farm truck. 8 ft. beds are great for hauling stuff

    Always like that era GM pickups. Had a 69 with a 307 and 4 speed years ago. Long beds only, short beds are a waste of steel. Short beds are, well, too short for serious hauling. Pressure wash her, fix the exhaust, other mechanical stuff. Fix those hood holes, fog some semi matching white paint on her and drive her!
