- I picked up this 1983 Chevrolet C10 longbed pickup as part of an online auction this winter. Based on 4 pictures I knew there was a lot of potential with this Silverado. As much as I want to use this pickup as a donor for other vehicles in our fleet or ding it up as a cool daily driver it has been SOLD!!! As always, thanks for watching!

This has to be one of the top revival channels on CZcams. I hope you keep growing and growing my friend. Thank you for the entertainment. Of course thank Duff also.
I agree Adam!
Thanks much for the kind words Adam!
Hey sweetie (& Duff)! Sending love from MamaCard. Wish I could send you some warmth from Florida!
Just don't go the way of other "revival" channels and start the inevitable overproduction when the subs get over 500k and filming other things nobody cares about. Lastly, avoid corporate sponsors at all costs.
I 2nd that Adam, VGG used to be great but now Mortske is better than VGG
I really enjoy the business and industrial history cutaways. Digging through scrap on the farm I took some time to investigate the raised “Ross” lettering on an old combine. Learning the history of the Ross Gear and Tool Company was as much fun as stripping down this old machine. As it turns out, America and Canada used to make stuff other than lawyers and activists.
Glad you enjoyed it! Ross steering gears were very common on equipment, cars and also hot rods back in the day!
Matthew, you from Oregon?
@@jeffjenkins9529 Alberta, Canada.
@@matthewjohnston1400 much better
Look up David Ross from Lafayette, IN he was the founder of Ross Gear he actually started several companies in this area. He was also big in developing Purdue University engineering department
I was born in 86, I remember being a kid and seeing a rusty Jones on my parents old t bird. That truck fired right up like it wasn't even sitting, as joe dirt says dang !
"Hello Rusty Jones, Good bye Rusty Cars".. I can totally remember the commercials from when I was young.
Duff is the number one dog! He truly loves like you can tell. Love it that you got the pick up truck working. It sounds pretty good. Thank you for sharing
Our pleasure Rhonda!
The fall recorded on that simplysafe camera was pure gold 😂
Whenever the video's an hour long, its either a seized Y-block or a HEI/quadrajet that lights off in 5 seconds. Beautiful!
I remember rusty jones, my family had a small dealership in New England years ago and I remember my grandpa loved that ole rusty jones
Cool!
I love this channel so much. I do miss the old shop where all the misadventures went down. I also wonder how lawnmower man is doing. My dream is to one day get more Puddin collaboration videos. Those were the best ever
.....just thought about lawn mower man the other day......wondering if he still drives to town in his pajamas ??
Lawn mower man ended up being forgettable
I almost agree with everything except for puddin..ugh
@@urbanurchin5930 Oh you know he's still living it up!
I agree with you. That is way too nice a truck to sell or part out. A new ignition tumbler, a piece of pipe to replace the missing cat. converter and a little rust repair, would be well worth the time and money. For a 40 year old truck, she's in great condition!
Shame the bed is so rusty!
Don't the square body bed sides bolt on?
@@trailerpark187 yup
Those commercials were awesome. Thanks for sharing them. I love these mortske minutes.
Our pleasure!
Tons of cars and trucks had Rusty Jones stickers on them when I was a kid!
I was born in 1975 LOL
Seen him on new cars until about the late 80's.
Thanx for a great vid buddy!
Best way to clean the steering wheel, throw it in the bush. No amount of cleaning will fix it because it's not a problem of it being dirty. The plastic is breaking down and leeching chemicals. Ask me how I know!
A 13 year slumber doesn't seem long enough to be much of a challenge to revive. But at least you're out there doing stuff which is more than I can say.
I wish I could find muscle cars sleeping for 40 years every week as well.
I was worried yesterday, when there was no video yet when I checked! So when I checked today I was relieved to see one posted! Duff just has a ball in the snow!
Rod Hall was an off-road racer in the mid 70s when my dad was racing . I was just a kid back then but I know he participated in a few Baja 1000 races
About time I needed my mortske Monday fix 😅
Yay! My Monday was incomplete 🥺 Glad all is well Mortske!
Duff is an AWESOME dog! The dogs only want human companionship, and they will be your friend ---forever!
Absolutely
finally, half of central europe was waiting for this :D
Good morning Lord Duff and Sir mortske hope all is well glad the video is finally out what took so long
Thanks for waiting!
Good morning Mort. That Chev is a really decent truck, little body work and some TLC would make a good driver. Take care and be safe. 👍
Someone should save it!
Mortske and sammiches. It dont get much better. The most will it runs of any channel and man do i appreciate it.
OUr pleasure!
Quadrajets have to be one of the best carbs for revivals. They seem to always run.
Agreed
Oh yeah-sticky steering wheel. I use Totally Awesome Carpet Cleaner from the Dollar Tree. That and steel wool or a green scour pad. Comes right off. That carpet cleaner also cleans whitewalls, white letter tires, vinyl tops, removes rust from paint, interiors, you can use it clean your engine bay as well.
Thanks for the tip!
@@MortskeRepair Make sure it's the red bottle. That's the one you want. Get a case of it. You will not be disappointed. Trust me.
@@TheWalkmanRotation Good to know
Fun fact most of those mid eighties squares had shortbed gas tanks ,so all the more to shortbed convert them.👌
I did not know this!
I remember Rusty Jones. I'm in the Northeast so rust and rot are common. The one thing I remember the most about Rusty Jones was......it didn't work. Rusty was a smart cookie and hired out the warranty claims to and insurance company. There were so many claims the insurance company went bankrupt. I recall a friend's mother has Rusty Jones on her Subaru wagon. In 4 years time the floors and rear quarters where gone. Rusty, or rather Rusty's insurance company, paid a stupid amount to fix it. I'm surprised they lasted until 88 because I don't recall seeing those stickers or commercials beyond 82.
13:47 Rusty Jones is in the same genre as Ziebart. "Hello Rusty Jones, goodbye rusty cars!" They went bankrupt in the late 80s, but there's still Ziebart in some places. Line-X shops do undercoatings as well, and probably the most hyped brand name nowadays would be Fluid Film. Or I suppose Rust-Eze in the Cars Cinematic Universe if you're into that sort of thing.
edit...and the Mortske Minute in Studio D basically covered that!!!
Yep, I remember them well.. Rusty Jones was exactly what the ad said, a yearly system. At the end you could buy a D.I.Y. kit for yourself.. Your results could vary.. Enjoyed this episode and thanks for powering through and getting the video up, much appreciated!
Our pleasure Charley!
....depending on where Rusty Jones was sprayed on this rig......might be the cause of the power windows sticking.
Hello Rusty Jones, goodbye rusty car.
Welcome back Mr Mortske and Duff from Alabama
We had an 83 C10 in Custom Deluxe trim, 8ft bed. We got it from a local library that closed in 98. It had just 50k on it. Oddly optioned, it had p/s, manual brakes, 250 6, hd rear suspension, factory rear step bumper, frt bumper guards, folding tow mirrors, am/fm, gauge package, no carpeting, no insulation, no a/c, and a 700r4 with a 3.08 open diff. Arguably the best truck we've ever owned. I'd love to own another, and I'm a Mopar guy at heart! In my neck of the woods, ol Rusty Jones was well known. The thing that got them in trouble was that warranty.
Library truck! Nice!
I remember Rusty Jones. I even remember the commercias. Came out around the same time as Ziebart.
Always enjoy your videos and look forward to seeing more!
Thanks much!
305’s had no power, but they were pretty tough, and that beast probably gets 17-18 mpg. That’s probably the most reliable package possible from that era.
It’s nice you finally found one that the previous owners genuinely cared about.
Nothing wrong with a 305
Kudos on your revival of the Silverado. And watching you remove all that snow makes me happy I no longer have to.(shudder) Just a short message to tell you that we all love you and Duff and your resurrection of all the clunkers that you do.
Keep at it knowing your fans crave it regardless whether you succeed or fail. Thanks!
I think Tuesday should be the new Mortske day, love the channel you and Duff keep up the great werk!!
thank you Sir Mortske, always a great video. the rust on the truck surly shows the greatness of Rusty Jones.....
Our pleasure!
Oh Man!! I was just tellin "She who must be obeyed" that my No 1 bucket list vehicle was an '83 Silverado with a Ford cap, and you're keeping it!! Dang it! Well, at least this has been the mildest Ohio winter I can remember...no snow and only 4 days below 10 degrees!!
I could be persuaded to let it go!
I Love, love, love the square body videos Sir Mortakis!
Zeibart took off with the rust proofing idea
Boat anchor could come in handy with all of the vehicles with no brakes
Good idea!
Bumper guards! Took me a while before realizing these fit perfectly fine on Chevy G10/20/30…. Excellent parking assists!
Assists?!? oh boy
Always a great time watching always look forward to the Monday drop and see a guys got going on in the shop . Got to say it was funny to see the slip and falls the way u edited them in . We all been there but to have it on film just makes it that much better. 😂
Pretty sweet ole rig, thanks for another one Mortske!
Real good stuff as usual Mort, you can`t keep a Chevy down, there`s still lotsa life left in this rig.
Our pleasure David!
Was starting to think you were on skidrow from trying to revive all those Furds
41:32 yes, that would be the PERFECT area rug, as long as the area you wish to cover is at the bottom of a lake
Mortske your channel rocks! My buddies and me used up half of Chevy’s inventory with these old square bodies! They refuse to die, tough as nails, parts everywhere. Your behind the business stories are very cool, its a shame more American companies dont start from here and grow. Love the channel look forward to each week.
Glad to hear it!
Mortske I was worried that you lost the shop
Not yet!
Nice and easy! Just the way we like them. Definately a keeper! I've used rubbing alcohol on sticky steering wheels in the past but you have to do it once in a while when the sticky comes back.
Yeah once that original finish on the steering wheel wears down the sticky funky gunk just gets worse. The alcohol apparently reseals it for a bit but wears through. Used to carry a roll of electrical tape in my lunch bag for the various steering wheels in company trucks to rewrap the wheel from time to time.
Thanks for the tip!
Use goo be gone to remove sticky-ness
I have had great success with hand wrapped, hand tied leather steering wheel cover. Sold at Pep Boys and other auto parts stores.
@@grantkoeller8911 I think those are hideous. Sorry.
Thanks for all the great videos
Thanks so much James!
Glad video was finally available! Great one as always. Hopefully see you next Monday, always Great start to the week.
Think about it if you're over 45 and you've been messing with vehicles for at least 20 years you're now considered an old dude I know I am
I’m going to be 57 and I grew up in my fathers garage. Back in the day my father rebuilt parts for customers because it was cheaper than replacing them.
I'm 45 and I've been working with cars & ttucks since the 80's I work on small engines to Big diesel engines it's beat the crap out of my body! Especially living in a Alaska for 35 years
Great video. I'm glad you posted keep them coming thanks
Will do!
My grandpa had the same truck except it was a gmc. Him,my dad and uncle worked together in the mid 80’s so he usually left his truck at our house. I wanted to light some bottle rockets but didn’t have a lighter so I used the lighter in his truck. It didn’t glow after it popped out so like a genius I stuck my finger to it to see if it was hot. I had a brown burn on my finger in the pattern of the lighter for a couple weeks lol. Good times!
Hey Mortske for one of the Mortake minutes can you showcase Sir Duffaluffagus give us a rundown on the history of Sir Duff. We all love him and you of course.
Glad you got a video out today missed watching you yesterday
That one is tempting! Nice revival! Fun times!
That snl/npr skit is a true classic.
I had commented on the Instagram post but guess I'll comment here too. I have two cars that have been Rusty Jonesed. One is an 82, one is an 85 both our GM A bodies and as such love to rot out. The product worked pretty well. My 82 has not really been used in our salty Wisconsin winters, but my 85 went through 15 winters before I stopped driving it in the snow. The rockers, fenders and quarter panels are original and are still hole free! The product was nothing more than a cavity wax. I don't like the plastic plugs covering the holes that were drilled all over in the brand new car body. I guess that there were few options for getting the good stuff in there. Additionally, they sprayed the amber cavity wax all over under the hood and sprayed a lovely thick rubberized undercoating crap on the floor pan. The dealership I worked at in the '90s had all of the leftover application equipment still. In fact, most of the garbage cans that we used were old Rusty Jones wax drums. I still have the original Rusty Jones owner card for one of my vehicles. It was like a credit card with the vehicle identification number and owner name on it. You had to present that every year for its annual inspection and touch-up in order to maintain the lifetime warranty against rust. I have all the original paperwork as well. Great video!
That's pretty nice of you taking all that snow before it could get to Michigan!! Great video. Enjoyed watching ✌️ 😎
Ha, our pleasure Stanley!
Born and bred in Cleveland, Ohio, the heart of the rustbelt. In 1957, William K. Westley started B’laster Chemical Company by developing the Original PB B’laster in response to a problem a friend was having with a phosphate mine in Florida. Their mining equipment could not be taken apart for maintenance and repair because of the build-up of corrosion, phosphate and moisture. Nothing could break through the corrosion-until PB B’laster. PB B’laster is still the #1-selling penetrant. The company moved its headquarters and production facilities from Garfield Heights, Ohio, to a brand-new, state-of-the-art building in Valley View, Ohio where 30-50,000 cans are produced daily.
Good to know!
Love the videos and Duff
Seems like a decent rig. Been catching up on videos I've missed. Been busy lately and going to binge watch today while I have a day off. Waiting for my merch to show up. Goo gone is what I use for sticky things. Love the show 🤟

Mortske and Duff are superb wonderful viewing long may it continue….
Good Mortske Minute!I liked that one with the cool old tv commercial🙂👍
Nicest thing you've shown us in a long time! You might break the record for snow this week!
Them sticky steering wheels help keep the grips while doing the snow nuts!! Those ignition switches were really terrible. We will never get tired of seeing Duff's enthusiasm for a ride. Another great video, as always! Keep up the good work. And thanks for entertaining us!!
Will do
Those small block gems just amazing they don't want to quit
Meanwhile, in East Alabama, it's in the mid '70s today, and it's a beautiful day! Just let's you know that this is a big country, and we have all the weather all the time. Always fun to see a square body come back to life, and get stuck in the snow... at least you have an all-terrain dog with you to go for help! Still love the Duff dog, and our Mortske friend. It don't matter how you get it done!
Good Stuff Mortske Thanks for the Video

Duuuuude,!
I thought we were buddies, you almost dropped that boat anchor part, on my head !
The Duff dogs look, said it all.
Those rusty Jones commercials were good, seemed ahead of its time with the mix of animation into reality
Great video ! Silverado runs great 305 or not ! That bucket really moves some snow like you said ! Take care Duff and Sir ! P says pressure wash the steering wheel ! Haha !
Another excellent video Mortske! Keep it going, you have such an awesome channel! Please save that old square body, she wants to live. It’s too good to part out. What a rare interior package too. That 305 sounds great! Fix the switch, throw on some new rubbers, fix the exhaust, and a little half-assed body work, and she will be a great rig!
At some point you must put together a blooper video. All the funniest Mortske moments. This video had some great ones. The ignition switch into lock with you hand on the sticky wheel was hilarious! All the best to u and Duff.
