“There’s some steaks at play” exact reason I watch these reviews even if I’ve already seen the movie, well said.
Stakes
“Goriest film ever” is definitely an exaggerated reaction, but I watched it 4 times in the theater and love the crowd reactions to that wild 3rd act. Love this movie. Aisling Franciosi needs to be a super star.
4?! Is that typical for you when you love a movie?? I admire your dedication.
Goriest if you’ve only seen the scene where Will farrell gets shot in the neck in Old School
Wow, I don't think I've ever seen anything four times in the theater before! It's great that you enjoyed it so much. I thought it was a pretty decent flick, but one that I wouldn't feel the need to watch again. I wish we got more of the stop motion film, those were my favorite bits.
@@suzybearheart530 multiple theatrical viewings is definitely not abnormal for me. Besides Stopmotion, in 2024, I watched Mean Girls and Zone Of Interest 4 times and Sting, Drugstore June and Perfect Days 3 times.
I've loved Morgan's animated shorts for years. "Bobby Yeah," "The Cat With Hands," and "The Separation" are definitely worth checking out. Really looking forward to catching this one.
Me too! :-)
Thank you for the recommendations! I will check those out.
Saw this in theaters and just loved it. I hope we see more of Aisling Franciosi.
Really looking forward to your take on 'Late Night with the Devil' - it's the first horror in ages that ive been excited for!!
Everyone I hear that's seen it said it was absolutely garbage. Michael Barrymore made a Tiktok saying it was terrible and a waste of time, same with my horror buff friends. I been excited about it too but sounds like it's just had money to put into the advertising, fake reviews. Same with Legend which was absolutely shite! Was a spoof instead and got near perfect reviews. Maybe don't get hopes up and just hope it's good, I too been very excited about it but tbh horrors these days are usually not great
The relationship between the main character and the mother becoming a metaphor for control sounds a little like Santa Sangre.
You read my mind!🤔
Seeing this for Aisling! She was INCREDIBLE in The Nightingale. I don’t think I’ve ever cried as hard at a movie as I did that one.
She was so good in that!!! I'm definitely ready to support her.
To me this movie very clearly tackles the topics of Trauma, Depression and self harm. From the soundtrack and really intense breathing you hear throughout the movie with the sculpted character to "the third night" It hit a little too close to home at times and kinda became hard to watch. It's easily horror movie of the year so far for me because this one actually had me at the edge of my seat in the theaters. As far as "realistic" goes. It 100% is real. Its as REAL and straightforward as it gets.
your hair looks so cute in this style !!!
I liked the movie, but I expected more after watching the trailer and having that baggage from "Mad God" (which I loved). I feel that they could've used the stopmotion aspect more to create creepier scenes and more of the mix between actors and stopmotion creatures in the same scene. I don't know, like I said, I liked it but I was expecting a big hit from it and it didn't happen.
I am so so excited for this one! Stop motion holds a very special place in my heart; to see it mixed with live action in the horror genre has me squealing. Thank you for the review, Emma! ♥️
The goriest film ever made is the french body horror INSIDE /2007/. In the uncensored version you have a real time long sequence of opening the woman's belly with a knife and getting the baby out. The entire film is sick and insane.
Love the hair!!
I saw it in the theater two weeks ago and it definitely creeped me the hell out. But I don’t think it’s for everyone.
The inner breathing noises drove me nuts lol
Watching Emma mangle Irish names always makes me happy given that I first clicked on her video because I saw her red hair and went "is this creator Irish"? And I've watched every video since. With that being said I'm so happy that she gave this film the seal of approval. I was hopeful from the the trailer but I can't wait to see it now.
Just watched this last night! Was surprised to see the Shudder logo show up only to find out it's not on Shudder yet so had to pay. Idk if I'm biased because I was looking forward to both this and Lovely Dark Deep and this movie was far superior but still left me wanting a little more. I think I enjoyed the symbolism more than the gore but the last 30 minutes surprised me!
Generally Shudder releases hit theaters about 2-3 months before streaming, but I find myself wanting to see so much of their content in theaters despite this.
compared it to MAY??? Now I'm excited!!
Hey Emma. I watched this yesterday... thought it was excellent!!! Some seriously creepy moments. The animation is superb!!! My fave horror of the year so far for sure!!! You never mentioned the soundtrack...i watched it with headphones and the sound of this film was soooo freaky!!!!!!
I appreciated this movie being a bit different but it made me sleepy.
I'm gonna give this a try tonight. Thanks for the opinion and not spoiling anything 😊
I watched it and liked it enough. Its probably my third favourite horror film this year, but sadly, there hasnt been that much competition.
I thought Stopmotion was just OK but I can't really say why because that would contain spoilers (Disclaimer below). It was interesting seeing how a stopmotion feature is made - they show the process in pretty good detail. The gore is really only bad in the last 15 minutes or so for anyone wondering.
Disclaimer: I saw this in the theater and a pack of idiot teenagers snuck in to our theater about 20-30 minutes in. They were there simply to talk loudly, screw around on their cell phones and run around the theater like 5 year olds and not to watch the movie. A few of us "olds" were able to chase them away after about 10 minutes. But I was definitely taken out of the movie during that time span so that could have affected my "just OK" rating. VOD may be a better way to watch this one because it's not a popcorn flick - you really need to pay attention to everything.
I love your recommendations. I can’t wait to see this. Thank you for reviewing this movie.
Thanks for the review, Emma. Not sure if this film will be up my alley. However, that has not stopped me from taking a risk when I'm in a certain horror mood. You have given me plenty of information, so I won't be going in totally blind.
I was so so so glad I saw this in theatres. A couple left pretty early on and that’s when I knew a wild ride was coming. Some big contenders coming to theatres soon in April but so far I think it will be top in my horror list!
just started the video but my GOODNESS you look adorable with that hair style
Thanx for covering it, Emma!!! Looking forward to watching it!!!
I am currently with the love of my life & I have so gotten him into horror movies…. He takes me to see one when I ask…. WE BOTH LOVED THIS MOVIE, 4 Stars easy. It reminds me a lot of one of my all time favs Starry Eyes….. I’m excited to see Late Night with Devil with him this weekend!!!
Love this review! Im so excited to see it now :)
This movie was not good at tension building for me. I went to see it for the stop animation aspect, which was really cool, but was completely let down by the plot and the performances. Longest 90 minutes I've ever spent in a theater. The gore was disgusting, I'll give it that.
Then you so much for reviewing this spooky!!! I was looking heard to hearing your opinion! I feel like I’m always on the same page with you on opinion 🤣🤣
I was bored 😢 had high hopes but 🤷♀️🤷♀️ and there is an average amount of gore. Maybe minimal gore, at this point. I'm just ready for Abigail and Sting to come out 😆
i wouldn't say its the goriest i have seen, Barely top 20.
I DO love the creativity behind this.
When the stop motion was interacting with the real world was so fricken cool.
i couldn't really connect with the movie and its story tho.
The amount of thinking and interpreting i was trying to do made me exhausted even tho it was a basic story.
i think it was well acted for the most part. The little girl got on my nerves a bit, but she's meant to i guess.
Ultimately its just not a movie for me but for those who love it i fully get it.
I was so excited to see this movie!! I went to the theater on pain meds after a surgery, the last day it was playing, and I fell asleep 1/3 of the was in!!! 😫😭
This one was a bit too abstract for me to stay invested… I guess it DID go off the rails for my taste, and it was so basic it felt like it could have been a short. But I still enjoyed the aesthetic and the vibes.
You look fantastic with those bangs 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for another great review, I unfortunately never understood stop motion as horror, and i do not care for gore just for gores sake, not going out of my way for this but when i can see it i will, you make great pro and con arguments and have never steered me wrong.
Great review ❤
Sorry for the question but what is that lipstick called?
Never seen you with your hair up before yeah I not got round to this one yet as you said only became available very recently.
Another great review, Emma! 😊
Sounds like all involved were dedicated to creating an original film & largely succeeded. It's on my to see list !
Uhm does anyone know what the black egg is supposed to mean?
Am going to watch stopmotion movie now in thank you for the review of stopmotion movie
Saw this tonight finally and was pleasantly surprised - the acting was fab the tension and gory bits and finale was well executed ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This hairdo is so cute on you!!!
@@poopy_barbieShed be pretty either way. :)
Always down to watch a movie that makes me feel icky. This is headed toward the top of my watchlist!
It wasn't Terrifier gore, but it was interesting realistic gore. It was good, I do like the foley where we see others moving and you hear the gears/armature sounds. I remember the actress from other films, but she also looked a lot like the singer Sigrid, a norweigian singer I've been a fan of, they could be twins. :D
Really wouldn't describe this film with its gore, as good as those scenes are. Love the audio
This so gave me Starry Eyes vibes…. By far the best horror movie so far this year….
I can't wait to check this out.
It was unique and I really enjoyed the stop motion scenes. Those scenes scared me more than anything. There was something missing from the plot that made me confused about the main character. I'm being vague because I don't want to give anything away.
I knew I had to watch this film after only seeing one single image still on Rotten Tomatoes.
And I wasn't disappointed.
I agree it's not the goriest film or super complicated, but it hits so weird and precisely what it's going for.
A solid 4/5 from me.
Liked and subscribed. :):)
Boyfriend fell asleep 20 mins in…. Loved the idea and the imagery, was just missing something I can’t put my finger on…
I agree and not even close to gory imo except for that 1 scene. I think I was disappointed bc I love May so so so much and was hoping it was going to be good like that but it just didn’t do it for me 🤷🏽♀️
I normally love to comment on the content but your hairstyle today is so fabulous, I had to mention. I hope thats okay :,)
thank you its just messy haha i appreciate the way you went about it
I wanted to watch this movie, but IMDB was giving mixed reviews. Then I find that SpookyAstronauts made a review, her judgement is final!
,,cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you… Greetings Jörg
Where is it streaming? As in which country and service?
i showed at the start how i watched it with details
@@spookyastronauts thanks! I was being extra special and got distracted.
I really enjoyed this movie!
Honestly, I thought this was one of the most unnerving and memorable horror movies I’ve watched in awhile. It wasn’t the goriest film, but it did make me squirm and look away from the screen several times.
Stop motion is a medium that unsettles me, and I found its use in the movie incredible.
I found myself entertained through the whole thing. By the third act I was looking forward to recommending it to my friends!
I thought it was extremely slow. Which is too bad because I'm such a huge fan of Aisling Franciosi. I didn't think the gore was too bad, however, it was so dark and depressing.
I was going to skip this one, but then you compared it to May ... I think I have to give it a chans now. :)
I definitely expected this movie to be more......artsy? It was absolutely more straightforward than expected. I enjoyed it quite a bit though. I have a soft spot for stopmotion from back in my animation school days.
Emma getting a red vibe
It was an OK movie. Not great, but just good. And as for gore, well it ain't no Terrifier 2!!
I just finished Stopmotion. It definitely had some hard to watch scenes. My stomach turned a few times. Movie was really interesting and had a good story.
Sorry, Stopmotion. I fell asleep watching you. I'll have to try again later.
Who are you talking to
I did too but I was on pain meds 😅 I’m so bummed!
@@aleisterlilywhite1109 I did too but I was on edibles
Its still be boring later too. Please don't try. Watch something better.
Then you missed the point
I saw and loved this movie, but hearing people say it's the goriest film they've ever seen has me wondering if I somehow saw something else. There IS gore, and it is quite grotesque, but really? It's not even in the top twenty most gory films I've ever seen. There are films that aren't horror with more gore, like Seven. And then if we talk about horror, like? Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Crimson Peak (if you consider that a horror)? Infinity Pool was way gorier.
I don't think I've heard you say you ever have to turn away from the screen tbh.... would be interested to hear a list or something of movies where you turned away! This def sounds too much for me, and I don't think I'm squeamish.... but if you are... oh boy!
Yeaaaaah, I wanted to like this one, I really did. Although its atmosphere and sound design stood out, the story just wasn’t enough. I mean, I get it. But the journey wasn’t really that enjoyable. This will be one of the most divisive horrors of the year for sure
I really enjoyed this as well. Didn't think it overly gory.
I liked how it started and how it developed, but felt like it was missing something
I loved this movie, and at the moment the best horror movie I’ve seen this year (which will obviously change once more films are released). Calling this the goriest movie is strange because, no. But it is gross in the best way
Omg Emma, the puns!
As soon as I think I’m out, she pulls me back in
This movie sounds like my vibe.
Started it last night, so far I'm digging it...going to go finish now on my lunch break lol. Love the review!
What it on a bigger screen than ur phone, any movie deserves that at least.
How can that little guy be gory? He's so cute! 😄
I just finished watching Moral Orel for 3rd time and now I'm already expecting more nightmares from this movie 😂 scary or not, stop motion just terrifies me.
i do feel the metaphor is a bit on the nose with this movie.
i loved this movie :)
"there's some stakes at play"
i see what you did there lol
u look so pretty today!
Agreed. Its nowhere near worthy of that title. Great wee film though 😀
More gorey than Evil Dead Rise?
I watched this in theaters and remember nothing about it lol. I remember no gore either. Guess that means i didnt care for it
Still not sure.
It's a fantastic picture. the gore is only gratuitous in how it serves the story of a disturbed woman. It is h e a v y, no doubt in its use of metaphor. I had sympathetic pain for sure!
For fucks sake, I haven't even seen Mad God yet. I'll check this one out though.
watch mad god NOWWWW
Wow!!! Are so beautiful in this video!!!
"Stakes at Play" Haa!
;)
emma looks super cute here !!!!!!!!!!!😃😃😃
Great movie. Gory, but I've def seen crazier.
Phone " phorne" , own " orwn " most " morst " 😅😅
It’s an accent my dude we all have them, be kind
I just read the troop, a body horror novel by nick cutter. And it was the most disgusting thing that’s ever entered my imagination. Body horror is the grossest for me. Right behind is impalings and decapitations from the saw franchise and final destination sequels. Or zombies ripping apart a likable guy’s face or Negan spilling a young man’s intestines on the walking dead. I can’t stomach it so I try to look away. For years I’ve considered Dead Alive to be the goriest movie of all time. But the effects are fake enough that I can handle most of it. I wonder how Stopmotion compares.
I'm gonna love this
This movie looks amazing! Can't wait to watch it.
Loved it ❤
Didn't realise ashling had a new movie, she a fantastic actor. I'm gunna check this 1 out. Thanks Emma
