- Gay homosexuals Nick and Joseph spoil Stopmotion - a 2023 British live-action/adult animated horror film directed by Robert Morgan in his feature-length debut.
Premise: Ella is a stop-motion animator who while putting the finishing touches on her film, suddenly finds her life spiraling out of control when her neighbor suggests adding a monster to her movie called the Ashman.

The little girl is her inner child, who couldn’t share her creative ideas with mom
Is this a theory? I really wanted to know who the kid is.
I thought the same!!!
10:07 It’s actually revealed later in the film that she never took the drugs to begin with (shown when her boyfriend comes to find her the next day on the floor and she tells him while showing him the baggie with an acid tab still in it and then she proceeds to toss it across the room)
“…Left me wishing we watched the film within the film” exactly how I felt about Nocturnal Animals lol
I did enjoy Nocturnal Animals and The Words, though I wish each were a little shorter.
It’s SAINT MAUD with puppets.
Exactly what I was thinking! We get like two scenes introducing the relationship with her mother before she’s in a coma. There was a lot of wind up to a crazy ending without enough context
Just wanted to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart for getting me through opiate withdrawals and some of the worst depression of my life, your reviews have always made me laugh and reminded me that there’s more movies I have to see. Also the hair reviews are always so fucking good lmao love you both and wish you the best 💕
❤️
Totally understand and agree. Sending you a hug. 🙂
I have been there before and it is HELL. I hope you have looked into kratom. It’s legal in most countries and easy to obtain esp if you are in the US. I can’t recommend it enough and I don’t think I would have made it through without it. Either way, you got this, Emma! 👍
I’ve been there with meds and watching horror makes me feel like my life isn’t that bad 😂 sweat😅
Congrats Emma!! Keep Trudging That Road To Happy Destiny!!!! "
As an animator myself, i loved it all, esp the bit to her bfs sis "if i had yr job id fucking kill myself!" 😂.. sez it all!!!
To try to be an artist.. to please yr inner child.. and not sell out and take a corporate content creation job.. hard to not wanna crawl in that silky satin coffin 🏴☠️💋❤️luv u guyzzz!
i view the symbolism as about sa within the church (ie the name ashman and the blue dress she wears at the end is very similar to the attire of virgin wives in the handsmaids tale) and her mother covering it up (her telling ella she has a sick imagination when ella hallucinates her speaking to her at the hospital) once ella has the power to creates something else than what her mother wants (this can also b seen as taking a life of her own bc she mother was always in control ) however ella never created her “own” story because her new flim is her reliving her trauma (mother told her about bringing dead things to life) only through actual death ella is able to reach an escape/ her innocence through the gold box
The background picture reminds me of that Tool video 👀
The puppets do kinda look like the puppets from Tools video, Prison Sex.
hello beautiful 😘
Yeah, just watch “sober” and “prison sex” instead and you’re good…. Movie was boring.
I thought that the yellow room that the Stopmotion creature went into and was also brought into the “box coffin” that had yellow in as well was kind of a symbolism for mental health like in the book “The Yellow Wallpaper”. Which would explain Ella’s hallucination, etc. Maybe it’s just me thinking too much into it
Finally, the full length Tool film I've been waiting for. I'm scared but excited.
You guys nailed it with “I wish I was watching the movie within this film”. This movie would have been a good short I bet. As it is it’s just slow and with no resolution
His sister might have been in the same line of work because that might have been how her brother met Ella so I didn't consider that as being too coincidental. But I agree there needed to something more to explain why she was losing her mind. The ashman needed to represent something from her past. Good review. The stop motion animation was extremely creepy and kept the movie interesting.
She plays some very interesting roles. She was Lyanna Stark in Game of Thrones.
I wished they showed the after math of her ending.
Like a scene when they find the bodies!!
nick does a wonderful job filling in the holes ? wink wink 🤣
4:35 Nick's satisfied look towards camera got me!
@@robbielex and then ".....thank you 😏 " 😂😂
* insert I would like to see it gif here *
Joseph always picks the best background shots 😂😂
Nick said “Thank you😌” y’all are one some of my favorite personalities honestly 🤣
I finished watching the movie literally five minutes ago. How it lined up in my head, oh, where do I begin? Within the first few scenes of being introduced to Ella and her mother working on a project, I understood that the mother was an animator or film maker of some reputation. The fact that Ella would never attain that status was also made clear. These clues opened the door for the "little girl" (with no name) to appear. I felt it was evident immediately that she was a hallucination, but a hallucination of Ella as a child. She was the Ella filled with excitement, creativity, originality, and drive. I think Ella's mother saw this also, and worked on Ella to crush the enthusiasm out of her. Throughout the movie, I kept thinking the heights Ella could have attained in movie making via the "little girl's" imagination that outshone anything Ella was creating at an older age.
Seriously, thank you gentlemen, I had such a rough day and this video took my mind off the stress. This one I will watch. 👍🏾
The Nightingale is incredible but man I don’t think I’ve ever had a movie make me sob so hard. I was incredibly disturbed.
That poster 😂
They were filming in the house and her boyfriend's was telling oh no you can't go back there these apartment will be empty for who knows how long. Also I thought the movie was going to reveal that she had some drama and the little girl was younger her that was attacked in the woods or that the little girl was her unborn daughter from stuff happening in the woods that she had repressed. I was wrong. I did think it was interesting that the stop motion cabin had that door and then the window next to it and it happened to be the same layout as her apartment
It seemed that the authors had collected topics for a psychological horror film to the checklist, without having worked them all out to the end. There may be a lack of small exposure scenes from the past or conversations with the mother.
I think the egg was a tumor because tumors could explain the sudden shift
Eggs also represent birth or creation. In the end we see the egg crack so it could represent the birth of her creation once the art is complete and it's been fully developed.
Foreshadowing: her mother says you can't control it & you will end up in a box aka PUPPET
Since finding out the meaning behind y’alls channel name, I cannot stop singing I don’t think you’re ready for fish jelly😂😂 You guys are amazing, I love the channel! Thank you for blessing us with y’alls commentary❤
I can’t seem to find Perfect Days and The Teachers Lounge reviews. Are they part of a festival wrap up last year. Thanks, you guys are great ❤
Perfect Days was incredible
This is so random but I seriously dig that blue shirt Nick is wearing! Also, I think after listening to this review I may check out The Nightingale. Enjoyed hearing both your insights on this film!
Nick looks so freaking handsome in that color!
The Nightingale is brilliant but absolutely traumatic. Just be prepared.
@@veganpeace7890They are both fine looking !
@@esoteric76The Nightingale was a stunning movie, very good but so draining and intense I dont think I ever want to see it again.
I may have read way too much into it - maybe because of personal experience with abusive mothers (not my own) but I found the opening scenes chilling. I think ella was her mother’s puppet her whole life down. The scene when the mother yelled at her not to move - I imagined her using that as “training” for stopmotion work but it actually was probably very painful and made her disassociate to survive. Can you imagine having your mother tell you your next move down to the half a milimeter like every second every day? It would drive anyone mad! And then take that control away and I think the ending made so much sense. It can be scary how at the mercy of the adults children are. Thought it was excellent but horrifying view into that. Thanks for the review as always!
Omg!! Yaasss! I ❤❤❤been waiting and need this review like need cause this one is freak show 😂😂😂
As an exploration of the artist and their work it might be interesting to double feature this with Crimes of the Future...and then cap it off with Mad God
I genuinely have no idea what I just got done watching. This was the most confusing and gross movie experience I think I’ve ever had.
Finished watching this last night and disliked it immensely. ETA - she did move into that creepy apartment after her mother had the stroke; it wasn't where they'd been making the movie in the beginning. ETA #2 - I feel like the imaginary child was a representation of Ella herself, internally.
CANNOT wait to see this and am kinda glad for your insights, it probably will help me to enjoy it even more! Bravo Gents!! 👏😍
Y'all always do some of the smartest reviews. This film is a bit enigmatic and a lot to dissect. Cheers.
Will probably check this out as I'm a sucker for stop motion but its nice to know what I'm in for.
Please review madame web… I need the laugh and nobody better than yall to provide the comic relief 🙌😂😂😂
Hells yes!!!! Been waiting for this one 😅❤
That background image 😫
Are you doing Love Lies Bleeding soon? ❤️
They overdid the psychological aspect of this movie. Would've been better if the movie simply focused more on the movie being made n let the viewers actually see it completed
Hey y’all watch the trailer it’s here on CZcams
Nick I always love that shirt on you! That color blue is your color!
Took a break from CZcams & Facebook for about a year-ish, and this was my first review @FishJelly / Stop Motion. Wanted to see if this movie was worth to order for $5.99. Top guys you are in reviews like always! Been subscribed for about a few years and now back.
this sounds good. we dont get many horror movies with stop animation characters. the last i can remember are from the brothers quay. i would say nightmare before christmas, but that is kidfriendly
NO WONDER! Why I liked the Main Character SO much. She was the same girl that was in the “The Nightengale”. Holy fucking Shit. I needa watch more of Her movies. Her Eyes are so Big and expressive.
Shout out to The Nightingale. Underrated
Good call. The Nightingale deserved a lot more attention.
@@davidkelsall6164The Nightingale was a stunning movie, very good but so draining and intense I dont think I ever want to see it again.
This movie completely freaked me out in the best way. I can’t believe you referenced Greta, which is the kind of movie that is never mentioned again. The practical effects, visuals and disgusting sound design make this one a definite recommend! (The creepy kid reminded me of the British AI in Resident Evil) 😂
I'm SO PROUD of Robert Morgan!!! ❤❤❤
She did move locations after her mother died. Also, she never took the drugs.
Finally got to see this! Despite the holes 🤣 definitely a strong start to horror in 2024 I think!
What did you guys think the black orb represented? I can't quite work it out
The egg?
@stephanieh5478 oh yeah, I just realised it's more of an egg but yeah that thing
I loved this movie for about 30 mins then by the end the movie just made me want to watch all the movies it was trying to copy .
PLEASE DO A MOVIE REVIEW TO THIS WEIRD AF MOVIE CALLED “BLISS (2019)” I think it’s a SHUDDER film as well.
Actually I'm an artist and most are very sensitive about their artwork so when the main character is actually trying to get out of the control of everyone... When her mom said she'd always be a puppet and once the puppet is done they go back into a box...that was basically the time her mind broke,...that was forshadowing ,. Her demise....
Soooo, I didn't get to finish this, because in the horrific scene in the stairwell with the sister, my son ended up having a seizure from the intensity of the scene!!! I think we discovered that he's super sensitive to overstimulation, and the intense sounds mixed in with the depiction of the heinous way she murdered the sister was too much for him. When he came to, I helped him out of the theater before the movie was over. Mind you, the last horror flick we went to see was Hereditary and he fared well, so this was... intense. From what I did see, we left right as she was dragging their dead bodies into the apartment, I felt like the movie had a lot of potential if more development could have gone into the relationships between the characters before all hell broke loose. Some not enough in the dialogue lent to a deeper understanding of the characters and a few more details could have breathed more life into the world. Then again, I wasn't sure if I was missing things from our little incident in the theater. What an evening.
Oh no
Great review

Awesome !
Where is Madame Web ??
Omg their review of madame web would be epic 😂
She actually never took the drugs, I presume acid.
7:20 Not the lil' girl pulling a Joseph: 🤷🏾"The story would be better, if..." aka "The better story would be, if..."
(Now, to be fair, you've never said to use raw meat or roadkill to improve a story!!)
😮🎉 😅🤣😂
I just saw this last night and I can't agree more with your review. Visually, dark and visually disturbing. Storyline, lots of confusion. All and all, I still kinda liked it.
It had American Mary vibes..... The vibes were dark and off but in an unenjoyable way....though I think I enjoyed the movie for the most part. It was different. I liked the idea and it kept me entertained so...yeah. It could have used a little bit better exposition in some places.
I liked this movie for the first two acts but then I saw the ending coming and then I thought been there and done that
she made it clear in the movie she never took the drugs, she pulled out the bag witht the drugs still in it, and threw it on the floor
Yeah because she was mentally ill.
I absolutely wanted to see the rest of the stop motion movie after she killed the people and used parts of their bodirs. Also what was up with the egg thing that they kept showing?
Y'all have to review Mea Culpa 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🤣🤣🤣
We are watching it right now.
@@fishjellyfilmreviews yaaaaasssss 🤣
I think the ash man is supposed to be the end of her childhood, so I guess it's her mother. But then shouldn't it be an old woman or a witch or something? You said the mom's not that bad either. In 'Pearl' it made sense because she is already disturbed and even scares her own mother.
Stop motion animation has always been inherently creepy, jerky nightmare fuel. Even when it's intended to be cutesy like 'Missing Link,' it's ugly and unpleasant to look at. The closest they can get is 'Nightmare before Christmas' and 'Coraline,' and they're even creepy by design. Otherwise it belongs in this kind of vein.
I loved this film!
I wish I would have watched this review instead of the movie
This would be extremely creepy as a "women in madness" theme! Methinks any person *communicating obsessively* through detailed artwork, like stop motion...may be a dying art - I remember 'enjoying' Sinbad's stop motion creatures☺
I think she had a psychotic break where she disassociated she was little. I think she disassociated bc she killed the ash man on the 3rd night and what happened on the second night. Then her and her Mama cook and ate the body to hide evidence. That’s why the meat scenes were gross at the beginning and why she got eaten at the end. 😂 idk just sitting there watching it , I kept thinking “That family ate something weird….really, really weird….”
The holes the holes the holes
I really wanted to love this film it has SO much potential… but it was just a bit thin. And lacking story… and therefore kind of boring…. Pity. It could have been great.
I'm with you two on this one. Felt pretty empty at times
It's very good stop motion. It's creepy body horror. But it's confusing, pretentious and boring.
Symbolism. Ugh. Give me a creepy vibe and a dumb slasher any day. This movie just trickled out to nothing. All build-up to a nonsensical non payoff.
Don't waste your time most illogical movie without any story and explanation
i fell asleep watching this movie
4/5. Maybe even a 4.5/5.
What the heck?
I think she goes off the deep end because losing her mother she also lost her direction. The rest of the movie is her trying to find her own sense of direction, which is weird because you’d think the liberty from her mother’s passing would’ve been a positive thing lol definitely needed more background stuff
Y’all were wrong about her taking the drug she didn’t take it
