- The MONē La Roca is the creation of Cjell Mone. A blend of retro, modern, and classic, this bike is incredibly unique. Today we take a first look at this stunning bike and talk with Cjell about his design philosophy and what makes this bike so special. The La Roca V3 just dropped today. While this video features the V2, the V3 has a few tweaks and updates, but the majority of the bike is the same as this one. Learn more about these bikes here: bit.ly/43rVqPJ

I love that you and Path Less Pedaled are showcasing frame builders who put a lot of thought into creating a unique and purposeful riding experience. Love that you are getting into frames that are purposed in their own ways for adventuring and living life on.
Whoa! Can't wait for the ride review. Cool bike. Congrats on bringing small builders to the forefront.
Always loved Mone's sliding dropouts. I'm looking at the V3 geo chart and it says they're adjustable from 405 - 435mm. That's a lot of range😳
This is the first time I've seen an interview with Cjell that really allows him to tell the story of what this bike is. I have to admit, I didn't understand it before. I think other interviewers lacked Steve's understanding of geo and what that actually does to a bike feel. It needed this to get the story across. I'm looking forward to the ride review.
Also, I really hope we can get to a day when people don't have a reflexive flinch when we talk about Taiwanese bikes. Taiwan isn't China. Hell, China in 2023 isn't the bad reputation China of the 80s. Made in America Ra Ra I get it, nationalism. But Taiwan makes really good bikes. It kinda sympathetically hurt a bit to see Cjell's expression change a bit when Taiwan was brought up, even though it was leading into a really positive direction. I can tell he must have had to walk around this question a lot. Probably all frame makers do. Its unfortunate, because Taiwanese factories have a high demand and if you can get a product run through there that's something to be proud of and celebrated.
Great interview with Cjell! Mone Bikes are awesome. La Roca is a dream bike. Can’t wait for the ride review.
What a great first look!!! Always exiting seeing what these indecent bike builders are doing different!!! Stunning looking can’t wait for the ride review and for you to say Steel is Real on this one!!!
Two videos with radically different builds of this bike drop on the same day. For me I would split the difference between the two builds and run a 120-140 fork with as many light parts as possible. I like the flexibility of the thinking and the brazing and finishing.👍🏽
That’s an awesome drop out design! Speaking as someone who has been riding SS Mtn bikes and had many different drop outs.
I have Paragon”Rockers” on my custom Seven and Eskers “Portage” drop outs.
FYI the 141 Boost is the QR drops that are sold in the Philippines
Finally higher bottom brackets. How many times I had a pedal strike with a 80mm BB drop on an adventure bike. I understand that BB drop can be an advantage for certain disciplines like DH where it "lower" the center of gravity. Freaking nice bike BTW, thanks to that nostalgic look of the bronze brazing.
Love brazed steel frames, aka Richard Sachs road bikes. Looks like a very nice bicycle. Have a fillet brazed aluminum Klein Palomino from 2002. Beautiful tube joints.
Really neat hearing from the designer
Wow...Really eclectic and cool bikes on Mone's website. Beautiful stuff!!!
The frame is stunning once you zoom in for a close up. Are you going to test it both as 27.5 and 29?
I love my La Roca v2, I have had it for a couple of years and it was my first hardtail and real mountain bike. It rips! I can go so fast on it, and with 29x2.6 it is stable over super chunk. I cant stop myself from smiling when im on it. I can ride for super long and never feel uncomfortable. Picked up a Canfield Yelli earlier this year, and it is a great hartail as well, but it does not feel as incredible as the Mone. Excited to see the review, I know you will love that bike.
Man, this frame would look awesome mounted to my Moné Carbon Lightbar!
Oh my, this has to be one of the best looking bikes I have ever seen! Can't wait for the review to drop in 🤩
That looks like such a beautiful frame! Well done!
Soo noice. What a piece of art. Interested in seeing how the seat tube angle performs. Thank you for the lovely bikes.
It's simply the best hardtail for high alpine and long distance shredding you can possibly buy. In the process you get to support one of the coolest/nicest/most genuine humans on the planet. Mone bikes for lyfe. ❤
cjell is the man. What a great human.
Man this is a great looking frame
Great build Cjell. Beautiful and brilliant Sir. Well Good! - M
Thanks 4 sharing - - that is a really cool bike!
I'm saving up for an El Continente SS. Yes
Such a beautiful looking bike 😮
I'm waiting on ups to drop off my la roca today! I've been hoping you'd get one of these in for review.
Excellent. It's a beauty!
Gorgeous bike!
Curious what the advantage of a low mount calliper is? Cjell said it’s better but I’m wondering what the specific advantage is? Allows a flexible seat stay maybe?
That’s a great looking bike
Beautiful! 😍
Cjiel, Super Nice bike! I want to build my own steel frame. What do you recommend as an angle finder for dialing in your angles on the frame setup?? Thanks guys!
Looks so sick
Taiwan is truly no. 1 in the bike manufacturing industry.
They make some decent hand tools as well.
I confused alittle because with the frame . The V3 in your video is different than the la roca v3 at the mone website.
This was filmed before the latest v3 was released. I'd recommend dropping cjell a line to chat with him about the particular updates.
Love your channel here! Apart from custom, do you know anyone who makes a modern geo HT for 26” wheels? I have a 26” set of Carbon Darby wheels with Hadley hubs that I never used. It would be fun to build a light, modern geo HT with them. Thanks! Maybe this would be a good video idea? Something different.
Have coaster brakes improved over the years? I haven't heard of anyone riding one on the trail.
Cjell has created, in my opinion, the highest performance coaster brake out there. He's done a lot to improve coaster brake performance. They're still never going to touch disc brakes though. But for simplicity and retro feel, his stuff is great.
@@hardtailpartynot sure if it ever worked out but he was working on his own coaster brake hub…
Woah I always thought it was pronounced "moan-aye" 😅
