- The MONē La Roca is the creation of Cjell Mone. A blend of retro, modern, and classic, this bike is incredibly unique. Today we take this stunning bike out for a ride and see where it thrives. The La Roca V3 just dropped last month. While this video features the V2, the V3 has a few tweaks and updates, but the majority of the bike is the same as this one. I got just built up a size large (I’m 5 10” with short legs) and decided on the large as I wanted to go for a bikepacking/XC build and couldn’t be happier.
Built it up with a 130mm pike, 27.5, 2.6 tyres and a ton of stupidly over the top Hope, XT/XTR and Middleburn stuff with the aim of basically having the bike for a very, very long time.
I absolutely love it, the geo is fantastically comfortable and it climbs so well. Feels super stable and confident over everything. Easily my favourite bike I’ve built which is lucky as it cost the same as selling a kidney in the end. Just absolutely brilliant, support Cjell.
Seems like a good bike for those of us who don't really know what part of the country/planet we might be living next year.
Good to see you riding 💪👊
Unfortunately I haven't been on a bike for a month now. This was filmed a year ago. I was waiting for the v3 to come in stock before I released this review. Still recovering. It'll be a few months before I ride again.
@@hardtailpartyyou're still doing consultations on patreon though right? I'm about to make a decision on a forever bike and I would love your input.
@@hunters215 yes, patron is going stronger than ever.
I’m getting my new black Fox Factory 32 installed today!
Been waiting for this one!!!
👌nice ride👍
Definitely a breath of fresh air! Very nice geo.
Super casual riding next to those cliffs!
Beautiful bike!
Very nice bike!
that frame is beautiful!
Omg how long I waited this video!
The saddest part is that it was filmed a year and a half ago. Cjell waited even longer. :)
Quality review Steve. Im glad to hear you had fun on La Roca! Cjell is the man!
He's such a great guy
Great review. Right on, a very versatile all mountain hardtail!
Enjoyed that Cjell cameo when you were following him in the second half of the video.
See my previous video where we ride these bikes together
@@hardtailpartyThanks Steve. I saw it and loved it!
The first look with Cjell was fantastic as well. Cheers!
Hi Steve, hope you are recovering well! Your videos encouraged me to buy und build a hardtail, a Fairlight Holt. I really like it and would love to hear your thoughts on it! Greetings from sunny Switzerland.
Oh wow!
Great review! Love to kick a leg over that bike, but as far as that goes I’d even prefer it with a smaller wheel give me a 26 on that baby! I run 26s on my chromag stylus and so love it, Rabbit hole rims 2.8 Maxis minions, and fun all day long! Now my route down has 29s with those same rabbit hole rims not as playful but man that thing rolls!
Hey Steve reasons to size up looking at this as a rowdier bikepacking rig and all around mtb switching between shorter and longer travel. Usually ride a medium but wondering if sizing up to the large would be better
Love my La Roca V2 (Large) riding it almost two years now. Set up Single speed with a 140mm Pike, 29x2.6 (thinking about 2.8 next), and odd monē bars. You’re right about the stack height making it more cruisy. It strikes the perfect balence of comfort, performance, and all day fun.
Hey, I’m curious how tall you are to ride a large? Looking at building one up as but I don’t have much to compare it to.
Swinging it off the back!!!
Awesome video as always hey I have a question for you I want to buy a canyon stoic and on their website it puts me in a small I am 5'10 and a half with the 30-in insane I noticed that the one you tested was a medium should I do the medium or the small My reach is normally a 440
Can you review the kens tyrann X3?
It looks like a bit of a throwback geo design I recognise from a kiwi boutique brand.
Nice! Have you ridden a Stanton Slackline?
Not yet. I have one in for review but I haven't built it up yet.
BB height does not feel too high? Wondering for 29er mode.
The taller bb made it less stable and more playful.
Steve, what are these collared shirts you always wear? Well not in this video. But most of your videos.
Party shirt international
Small bikes remind me of the mid 2000's 🤣
Playful bike that loves to corner? That's definitely got my attention now.
... that and the fact that he's rocking a reverse mullet on that ride.
Just to clarify, this isn't a reverse mullet
@hardtailparty Is the bike he's on running reverse mullet or is that just an optional illusion?
@@stephenkohler3472just an optical illusion
@hardtailparty Ahh.. oops.
Hmmm looks like retrobike. Not my geo.
