  • The Stanton Sedona is HERE! This is my new signature hardtail frame and I'm so excited to share it with the world. This is my idea of what the perfect green and black hardtail should be. It's got a strong bmx/dj/trials background to it, and it's the steel hardtail I wish existed before I designed it. With a short wheelbase, a short rear end, room for massive droppers, and a sensible head angle, this thing is designed to make boring trails exciting again. Thanks for all the kind words everyone, this has been a labor of love 18 months in the making.
    What do you think about the cable routing on the seat tube? Is it worth an extra 20mm of dropper post insertion to have a more complex initial cable routing?

    • @FelixLux-jl8cb
      @FelixLux-jl8cb Před 15 dny +1

      Totally worth it, especially for short legged people. Looks like a fantastic design and beautiful too, congrats!

      @BenSch100 Před 15 dny +2

      This super long insertion sets it apart from other frames at this size - so I think it's worth the hassle of getting the cable through.

      I'll play the role of dissenter, but I'm not sure it would be to me. No matter the bike, I think (for my height) that 180mm of drop is plenty. Plus do you really need that much drop for a bike that is designed for green/blue trails?

      @@martyarnwineyes. Personally I’ll take every mm i can get. I’m 5’ 7’ and I’ve crammed a 210 in my bikes. the lower I can get the seat out of the way for manuals the better

    For inserting the string for the dropper cable: Maybe attach a small weight (like a needle) at the end of the string, insert the string from the front and then turn the frame upside down once the string reaches the bottom bracket?

  • @JamesMkII
    @JamesMkII Před 14 dny

    Completely agree on 31.6 seat tube choice! All Cotic’s (or at least all of mine!) are 31.6 and it just allows frame swaps between bikes to be so much easier.
    Personally the dropper cable install would be a big turn-off for me, I’d rather lose some insertion to be honest in exchange for an easy build.
    The bike looks epic in that colour though 🤌

    So sweet! A 320mn max insertion depth is crazy on a little bike like that. A OneUp 240 has a lower shaft length of just under 340 if I recall correctly, so you’d probably have room to include something to help route dropper cables through without inhibiting max insertion too badly.

    This new “Sedona” signature bike looks and sounds awesome. What’s the frame weight compared to the Sherpa? I am also sharing my 2-cents experience as a Sherpa owner. In my area, we have lots of sticky mud (winter and farm watering); this mud gets stuck on the rear bridge above the tire. Mud and rocks also get stuck on and in the area near the bottom bracket (in front of the rear tire). On my Sherpa, as the metal is not round and has cut-outs, it hurt the paint, and rust is starting. I hope you give it some thought before going into production.

It looks similar to the Mutant and Dartmoor frames I used to have on my 26".

    I like the current dropper post routing. The less holes the better in a steel frame. One question, I currently ride a large Trek Roscoe and feel comfortableon it. I'm 6'2" and have short legs. Should I order the 19 or the 18? The 18 is closer to my current frame than the 19, but my gut is telling me go with the 19, so I'm torn. I'm ready to pre-order as soon as I figure out what size. Thanks!

    • @hardtailparty
      @hardtailparty  Před 15 dny +1

      Size this based on reach (the distance to the bars when standing). This is designed to be run with a longer stem than a lot of modern shreddy bikes, so i recommend sizing 10mm shorter reach than what you normally run on aggressive hardtails, or 20mm shorter than an enduro fs.
      If you want it to be more aggressive, size up. If you want it to be more playful and designed for slower speeds, size down

    Awesome looking bike!! Sounds like it will be fun to ride!! I was actually looking at getting a Roscoe 9 but after seeing this I might just hold off and order your fame and build my own. Do you happen to know how the frame sizing relates to rider height or inseam? I can't seem to find any correlation on the website. TIA!

      With so much dripper available on all sizes, j tend not to size with height or inseam. I tend to recommend people size based on reach (which often correlates to torso length)

    Love this Sedona. I have a 18” Switch9er which I love but have always found a tiny bit too small. I’m 6”2 would you recommend 18” or 19”? Thanks.

      I recommend sizing based on preferred reach rather than height.

      Think I’m gonna go 18” with a 50mm stem 👍

    I also value max dropper and this looks like a great design for that. This frame looks dialed. Want!
    Are these dropouts compatible with the old DMR swopouts?
