We love Spain because they have been hosting and looking after us since the 1960s.
We don't all eat and drink in British restaurants, I avoid such places like the plague.
Likewise; when in Spain, eat like the Spanish! And why not, as the food is lovely!
I hear it's raining in Málaga and some processions have been cancelled.
Raining here in Fuengirola, Malaga, for three days, but not flood level and it can’t be denied we need it.
Think the UK weather has gone for an Easter break to Spain this year. Still you say Spain needs a bit of rain.
Spain needs a massive amount of rain and at the moment it is pouring out of the sky - rivers flowing down roads.
I disagree withe the comment on Alicante, visited for the first time end of January. I treaded the same paths as our Stu. Friendly and very busy, The castle is breathtaking for it views free or 2.70 euro for the lift. Pincho some of the best, Architecture and atmosphere at night a joy to take in ,craft beers on a menu overall a great experience and If you go to the casino there is a balcon that looks over the harbour great for a cold one.
I did find it more expensive then Valencia conclusion Alicante is a great place to visit.
Wage comparisons across counties alone, are only half the information needed to make a conclusion. The other half is the cost of living. And guess what? Where wages are higher, the cost of living is also generally higher. Let's not be fooled by half-asred statistics. I think the correct term is PPP - purchasing power parity. This is a way to compare different countries.
Since the disgraceful kiss occurred in Australia, why on Earth do the Spanish courts have jurisdiction over it? Surely the venue is the Australian State in which it took place.
Because she and he are Spanish and members of an official Spanish organisation. That aside, she claims it was assault!
Maybe some community service and football ban but prison is a bit far
Denia is nice, large marina, very busy in summer, prettier and quieter in Moraira or Jávea a little ways down the coast
No, the main reason British tourists go to Spain is because it's cheap. Cheap package holidays, cheap booze and cheap smokes. France and Italy are much more expensive.
When was the last time you visited. I live in Marbella and a day at puerto banus beach costs me 50 euros. Spain has become verrry expensive e evev benidorm
I think that the main reason is not the weather, but it is cheaper than France and Italy,. That means, that many ordinary earning people can afford a fortnight at for example Benidorm.
Of course, the weather is a plus, but it has to do with the economic aspects, especially when you consider, how countries like Croatia etc.. are becoming more in demand.
All he had to do was say sorry.
Restaurants are good and people friendly in Denia! Compared to my home in Fuengirola however you have to watch out when crossing the the road, cars don’t stop for you automatically.
Hi Stu. Re your potential visit to Denia. I lived very close to Denia up until six years ago, and in my personal opinion, it is well worth a visit. Although it has a mix of commercial business and tourist attractions, it has lots of very good restaurants and bars, along with a fantastic harbour. Here you will find more excellent bars and restaurants, boat hire and where ferries to Ibiza, Majorca and Minorca depart. Excellent shopping in the Marques de Campo, and of course, the usual castle to visit if you wished to.. Long stretches of beautiful sandy beaches, again with many restaurants / chiringuitos nearby, and the rail station where you can catch a train south to coastal towns such as Javea, Moraira, Calpe,, eventually ending in Alicante .From Denia you can drive north to Oliva, Gandia and many smaller beach resorts, or drive inland a little to enjoy the mountains and valleys, with Jalon being a very nice and interesting place to visit.
Sad to be leaving Spain again next week, but I have some work to do in UK until Sept. I will be back in Spain asap!
comparing salyries in Europe, you also have to compare education, a lot off craftsmen in northern EU, also make for higher wages, schools 10-13 years apprentice 4 years + extra years for engineering or specialist, northeners will enter job much later!
Regarding the comment "Give me France and Italy every time!" I can see where you are coming from if the TV images of Benidorm and Place in the Sun golf housing estates are setting your expectations. Everywhere else in Spain away from the Mediterranean coast is very different. There are also pockets along the Mediterranean coast that are still more traditionally Spanish than pints, fish and chips and all day breakfasts that many (most?) Brits expect for their Spanish holiday. Each to their own.
The minimum wage in many states is $7.25 per hour. I live in Las Vegas and it is $12 here. You tell me about$18 euros per hour. Is it low?
I don't think the €18 is the minimum wage, just an average per hour
@@LA90598 I knew it wouldn’t be the minimum wage in Spain but wanted them to know about some of ours. ☺️
😢doctors in the public spainish health system get as little as 11 euros a hour !!!
Warning, especially for cyclists and motorcyclists, with the easter processions a coating of wax can be on the roads which is more slippery than a Spanish mayor, i saw a bus do a 360 because of the wax ..😮
Texas - hope you’re keeping your confederate dollars…..
Hi stu, hope the weather in portugal gets better for you. In regards to to mattinmalaga’s comment and response, the cataluña folks having planned for the eu separation, i think is highly suspect. As witnessed by the brits being misled by the politicians not fully explaining what brexit incurs.
Wages must be compared to the cost of living to mean anything
Here, speed cameras give fines on the car’s plates but not points on the driving license, as the camera doesn’t know who’s driving.
You Tube subscriptions are more like web browser bookmarks now. They seem to have little impact on the videos shown in your feed. Or it could be that most viewers are using ad blockers so YT ignores them.
Great show as usual Stuart; however how many "I don't know"s can you get into conversation in 1 minute? You managed 3 in about 15 seconds in this one!
I know you have to be diplomatic on several subjects, but .....!
I’m on the side on Hermoso. Rubiales is old enough and holds/held a position of authority knowing full well that his conduct must remain professional-only with the athletes. On the surface he seems entitled.
I live in Spain, and it's rip off prices. 5 litres of olive oil in Mercadona €20.15!!! Lemons that grow just down the road, but are far cheaper in the UK. Our weekly shopping bill for Mercadona has gone up dramatically, and on average for the two of us is, €120. That has gone up around €30+ since the Ukraine war began. We shop occasionally in the English shops for goods we cannot get in the Spanish shops, and their prices have shot through the roof, since Brexit. Tin of Spam €7.95!!! We obviously just walk past it. The price of petrol is high, €1.50 a litre! Also, we are seeing more signs of tourist are not welcome in Spain any more, especially the British. They are many graffiti slogans on buildings saying, TOURISTS GO HOME. I suggest that they do that, maybe then these inflated prices may come down, especially if the tourists do stay away, as this will hit their largest employment sector, with hundreds of thousands being out of work. Spain was once a cheap destination and to live, but no longer. Wages in the area where we live are basically minimum wage, around €10 an hour. If you are planning on coming to live in Spain, I suggest you to stay put or look elsewhere, as Spain is not as welcoming as it was.
Wine is a good price. The Guvnor for less then €3.
@@newsmonger77 You cannot live on wine!!!!
Modern life gone mad!
Wouldn't Spain veto Catalonia's membership of the EU?
No doubt!
Like the song, "It started with a kiss, never thought it would come to this."
Puigdemont belongs in jail just for his haircut! Shallow I know but as a retired hairdresser I can tell you, you can tell a lot about a person's character from the way they choose to look.
Re Rubiales - compare Dani Alves (assuming true conviction)
hahaha thre is always Pros and Cons to living anywhere. I like both of your videos the Pros and Cons. It helps a lot. Even if it's just your point of view. But if you're thinking of moving there, do your research. Listen to Stuart and then listen to others also. Don't take one person POV. We all have our bias on where we love to visit and think we want to move there.
GB News isn't "anti european" it's anti european union, theirs a big difference!
16:25 I think Carlos P is in for a bit of a rude awakening. Post referendum post pandemic Barcelona is a very different place from the city he cowardly deserted and the ensuing years of peace and tranquillity have pushed independence agitation to the political fringes. People have moved on. Young people in particular are just not interested. It’s not that they are not proud of their language and historical, political and cultural culture otherness from Spain but they don’t see it manifest in the petty introverted self referential political squabbling of a man like him, whose right wing conservative principles and diminutive besuited persona seems more in step with Opus Dei than a charismatic leader of the people. Let’s face it, he’s no Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He’s yesterday’s man.
The same applies to the SNP in Scotland. Out of touch and out of their depth.
In regards to dual citizenship, spain is already a part of the eu, however getting in needs a process. A new cataluña country would need to undergo the process which i think takes considerable time. But as stu might say, but i could be wrong. As far as mr puigdemont is concerned, i think separation lessens the damage to him from his spanish conviction, it’s all about staying out of jail.
In regard to Catalonia independence, the main missing point is, in my opinion, is NATO membership. In now days no independent nation can afford not to be in NATO, especially in the light of the recent investigation about Russia trying to incite the Catalonia independence. It’s a bright red flag.
whatever about the kiss and lets face it he was out of order the pressure afterwards is totally illegal and maybe it tells us a lot about him so he is not in trouble for a simple kiss
2 years also for not wanting to kiss her . Sic sosialist justice.
Wow, I hope that kiss was worth it!
GB News is WT News
Perhaps Perales can get a job working for Trump. Both think they can get away with assault. Vultures of a feather...
In an optimal world, I think that kissing is great assuming that the other person is cool with that. But we aren't in the world in which we have a mind meld with the other person regarding physical contact, much less a kiss. I don't want a stranger touching me, much less a kiss. It sounds like there will be a fine with probation, which sounds reasonable to me. I don't want anyone touching me, much less a kiss.
