The transition between Full motion scene and game cutscene is incredible. I notice the little différences with the in game graphics really later in the game(Cetras scene 😋) . The Unreal Engine 4 is wonderful. Of course CGI is again more powerfull since Advent Children complete.
Tbh the only real noticeable difference between pre-rendered and in game is the hair, even then only Tifa’s hair looks very real in the cgi compared to game engine. Also their faces are slightly different shapes as well but that’s less noticeable
You can tell they use different character models on the pre-rendered cutscenes. Like, Aerith's face is very different between the game model and the pre-render. I like them both, but I prefer the pre-rendered model more. I think only Tifa looks exactly the same in both models
I actually think that the CGI models are downgraded on purpose to pair better the in-game transition. Don't get me wrong, but they still are anime-ish characters.
@@zoomie7 Are this scenes like The Last of Us 1 cutscenes where character models look more detailed than in other cutscenes? Don´t know if I´m explaining any good.
No, not exactly. I'll explain the difference to you here. Games, unlike 3D movies, essentially need to be rendered as they're being played. I'll explain more in a bit. For 3D movies, the rendering is done per-pixel, so basically the computer will render one pixel, render the next pixel, and will keep repeating this process until the current frame has been rendered. Then, it does this all over again for every other frame, until the whole movie is done. This process takes days, sometimes even weeks for a really long movie. We call this approach to rendering "pre-rendering". So, why are games different? Well, if the computer that you're playing a game on had to render each pixel individually, you literally wouldn't be able to play the game. whenresponsible for rendering everything in real time. This is also why in game trailers you'll see the little text at the top saying "in-game footage". Of course, real time rendering has its limitations. You can't have as realistic reflections, light and shadow quality is much less good, the list goes on. As for the Last of Us 1, the game doesn't have any pre rendered cutscenes at all. Everything happens in-engine. The reasons the cutscenes look more detailed than the game is mainly due to the animations. The game animations are created by hand, whereas the cutscene animations are captured directly from an actor in real life that is wearing a special suit that captures his or her movements. This is called motion capture, but it's a whole other subject. I like how cgi Cloud has softer facial features to match his Crisis Core/Advent Children design
I prefer the in-game models. The pre-rendered models look like they are always smiling or some reason
I don’t think the cgi models look as crisp.
CGI Tifa looks hyper realistic, her expressions are Iike in constant 24K

These pre rendered cutscenes give so much more life to the whole game. If only the whole game was like this in 60fps on PS5
You said it bruv! It should be like this, it’s PS4, surely they have good power probably not to it’s extend tho 😅

Not gonna lie, Cloud and Barret look better in the CGI. Not a fan of Tifa's though, Aerith is half decent but his in game design is better

The fact that they look anime-ish is a style, not a limitation.
