Just realized, in one of the Armstrong fight cutscenes, Raiden successfully avoids his chin getting hit. He then takes a moment to check if it really happened. Then Armstrong punches him while he's distracted.

Platinum Games makes ridiculous and insanely fun games with stories that are lined with serious tones but doesn’t try to make the massive and complicated stories that Kojima is known for. They’re incredibly different games, But I think the MGS series needs more games like Revengeance.

I just realized that you can technically go through the entire game not killing a single person of you don't hit their head. At 1:14 you can see that the cyborgs have a brain protective system, probably keeping the brain in a prolonged catatonic state, meaning that they can get decapitated and survive so long as the brain is undamaged. You can get through the game without actually killing anybody, excluding those in cutscenes like the Doctor in the lab, Jetstream Sam, and Senator Armstrong.
Jet stream had no cyborg enhancements except his arm, his suit is just an “armor” so he’s has no brain protection, Sam is dead, unfortunately, or else his sword wouldn’t unlock for the the Raiden vs Armstrong fight.

In sam's fight the same happens around 74% of his health just drops down to 18% in one blow🤷🏻♂️
Charged attack + Jack the ripper mode, the scissors are insane if you managed to get it charger up, it can annihilate all of a bosses health sometimes. Oh yeah and parrying in revengeance difficulty does like 70% of the bosses health
The concept of cutting things is cool but pretty gruesome by nature if applied to human oponents. Getting to chop up bosses at the end in anyway you wanted was incredibly satisfying in a very free yet kinda sick way, I loved it
Well, they were all cybernetic. The only exception is Blade Wolf who is eventually rebuilt, Armstrong who was nanomachines, son... and Sam who was human but wearing a power suit outside of his arm.

I think that in Metal Gear, cyborgs need at the bare minimum their brains and their spines in order to function properly. Monsoon probably couldn’t separate his head from his chest because otherwise that would split his spine in two.

You notice that Raiden dodges a lot of hits by leaning back - but his chin grinds against the attack, glowing with heat.
However, Sam dodges faster than Raiden does - his chin doesn't get hit by Blade Wolf's chainsaw, for example.
