Chase you do a great job providing common sense insight on simple subjects like durability. I wish this version of the Leatt boot was in the big comparison test you did previously.
the yellow purple and pint 5.5 are super sweet, they would look awesome with one of those oneill mayhem jerseys/pants
I’ve had alpinestars for years tech 7,8 and 10.. friend had a pair of new instincts and he let me try them out and instantly loved them! Grip to peg was better flex was better and the inside is the most comfortable boot I have ever worn. Needless to say I bought a pair! Also instinct will also install a new sole for free after you ware the 1st one down to the red ware line. He brings up ankle support.. well I over shot 100ft jump flat landed and didn’t feel crap with the fox boots but my hands did. Lol

I’ve had the Fox instink and the buckles are the worst. They are comfortable but I did end up breaking my lower leg in these boots. I’ve had the Leatt 5.5 for over a year and love them. They are an excellent boot! They’re as comfortable as the Fox boots but I believe the Leatt are significantly better quality than Fox’s instinks for buckles and support.
Leatt 5.5 are awesome had mine for 4 months no problems I wish that leatt would make a water proof or resistant 5.5 thats my only gripe is with river crossing they let water in by the bucket load
I know it’s been a year but they are making completely water proof 4.5s now, 4.5s are great I have a pair
And for the people going on about the leatt boot and it hurts there ankle all you have to do if this is a problem for you put a thicker innersole in and they are perfect 👌 or a another thin innersole on top of the one in there either one works great
You should review the Forma Predator 2.0
Fox boots will fall apart in six months! Fox really needs to improve the quality of their boots and riding gear !!
Had mine for 8 years, about 150-200 hours. Only in the eighth year did 1 buckle break and the left heal separated so im very happy with them and wold recommend.
What would you recommend to take new leatt 5.5 or used item sg12?
I wear uk 10 - 10.5 what size would me according to us size
I Ride a 9 instincs and an 8 tech 7. Alpine has a bigger length. Bought an Alpine 9 Tech 7 once and it was too big for my foot

I bought the leatts 1 year ago, Has the price increased a lot? I remember buying them for 299 dollars and not 400 as they are now...?
Nope you probably got 4.5s or they were on sale 5.5s have always been 400 and they just jumped to 450 for 2023

So the Instinct isn't as good and not as good a quality of material if you stick with what he said about the stiffness/break in of the ankle.

We as an ATV riders like to know in your review how these boots perform in-term of scratching/ destroying the ATV plastics. As an example myself and most of my friends stay away from Tech7 as it is the worst boot that bust the ATV plastics.
You keep saying instinct but pointing to the flexlock. Which one has the best feel for pegs and levers?

My story, first time I bought the Leatt. It was very loud when I walked around in my room. The boots killed my right ankle, It was terrible after few steps so i had to send back. Then i chose the fox. It was much better but be carefull with the sizes!

I have such an issue with fox... I just dont trust them anymore. New or old. Gloves or boots.
To come back they need to beef up their warranty and offer affordable repairs/replacement for out-of-warranty issues.
If I'm spending $400+ on a boot I need to know I will be set for some time.
So I just keep replacing parts on my Crossfire 2 SRS.
what is the number meaning - 5.5 ?
Leatt uses a number system for all their gear - boots, helmets, pants, jerseys etc. The higher the number, the more protection or features the product has in most cases.

If Fox would tone down their logo on their boots I'd consider them more. Now they look like the person that has a Fox logo on their shirt or car and has no idea what it really is.
