It’s even worse than that, as they shoved Orange Cassidy and his chums, and the Elite featherweight division, straight over their brand new world champion, and presented all of those as people the viewer should be more excited about. Unbelievable.

Orange Cassidy - Gets the opening segment.
Jericho - After chants of "please retire", gets a title celebration.
Willow - Viewers don't like the women's division. Gets a title celebration.
Young Bucks - Take the main event slot and suck all the heat off Jack Perry attacking Tony Khan by attacking him but more.
Swerve - 2nd segment. Against a guy that is 0-6 now on AEW TV since December. Takes 15 minutes to beat him. The guy kicks out of the Swerve Stomp. The move that won him the title.
We don't hear from Swerve. We don't hear from Joe.
We get Tony Khan putting himself over. Technically.
He tries to get himself over by being attacked by people no one cares about. Most fans want Tony to go away for a while anyway. He sold a microphone to the side like he'd been shot.
Vader attacking Gorilla Monsoon this is not.
To top all of it off.....
The "acting"? Good lord. Jack Perry's dad was an actor. The Bucks are completely unbelievable in everything they do.
They are trying to be the nWo. What's a big difference between the two groups? Other than star power, heat and drawing ability?

I’ve met both Mox and Hobbs. Hobbs has a neck like a tree trunk. No way Moxley could even get his buggy whip arms around in it in a real fight.
My favorite part was when they were fighting on the outside for about 3 minutes while Taz was trying to remind everyone that it’s “IWGP rules” and there’s a 20 second count out but the ref was “letting them go.” Ridiculous. This is so WCW.

You gotta admit though, Mox choking out Hobbs was fuckin dope. It was bad ass. It was just like Rocky 3.

I look at Oba Femi in NXT and how he's booked there and feel like he's what Hobbs could have been with the right development and booking.

To be fair, those endless bad punches in the corner, with Moxley on the second rope, were probably an attempt to give Hobbs some time to see if he could still do anything. After the crash landing in the other corner, his right knee was clearly injured. After the "puppy punch marathon", Hobbs limped right into the DDT and they did the rear naked choke to end the match, because apparently the answer was "no, I can't". Hobbs could barely walk out of the corner far enough for the DDT. He couldn't get up during the entire post-match shenangians with Takeshita's taunts from the stage and Moxley's celebration.
So, AEW has two beef mountains who got booked into the ground for years, with screwed-up right knees now. Brian Cage better put a knee brace on for his next match, bro...
I will say, I had a good chuckle when they decided to walk-and-brawl right next to a smirking guy in flip-flops and a Hawaiian(?) shirt with horses and palm trees on it, who was taller than both of them. It's the little things...
Mox could have been one of the better brawler type wrestlers in a while. Instead he blew it and went full sloppy deathmatch style while slipping into submission wrestler when he gets bored.
People ripped on Jericho, Cole, etc about their in ring look but, Mox may be an even bigger offender. Mox just looks like the guy who wants to fight everyone when he’s drunk(not a shot at his real issues).
I’m surprised that Punk didn’t beat the sh*t outta The Plumber for pulling that Rocky III bullsh*t in the summer of 2022.

It was actually Ren Narita that Mox was ranting about in that barely audible post match spiel. I sort of knew Moxley's first IWGP title defense was supposed to have been Narita at Wrestling Dontaku, but the Hobbs match came first. Had no idea what feud necessitated Narita being a dead man though. The Windy City Riot show was on AXS right after AEW on Wed., so I DVR'd it. After Moxley won the IWGP title from Naito that's when Narita attacked him post match to set up the Dontaku match. But as of the airing of Dynamite I had no idea why Mox was so mad at this random NJPW JTTS guy.
And also, Mox shouldn't won the belt from Naito, like NJPW should've build Narita vs Naito for the iwgp belt, but no... so Mox said that doesn't work for me brother...

Months ago i made a comment somewhere about how Roman was the wwe UWU champ, seth was the wwe WHC and mox is wrestling in barbed wire and taking squewers to the head. Since Mox won the IWGP title, ive been getting replies from mox marks trying to convince me that having a plumber, covered in blood as your champion brings prestige to the title. They don't seem like a smart bunch

Mox has always been bad since his CZW days. He was "OK" in WWE because they wouldn't allow him to go to off the rails. But what you have in AEW is when Mox has complete control. Same garage match every time. And that has to be the worst choke I have ever seen.

Jon Moxley’s exit from WWE was a tacit admission of his inability to reach the superstar status of Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. In AEW, he’s found a lesser pond where he can delude himself into feeling like a bigger fish.
In WWE Roman was Vince's Guy, Seth was Triple H and Stephanie's Guy and Mox was nobody's Guy.

It's funny when he first left WWE, I thought Brock was the lazy bastard who wouldn't help Ambrose get a decent match set up. Years later I see why Brock gave him the most basic match possible. It's all he deserved.
I think the main thing is...he always was of the body type and talent level to be the underneath guy. Whether that was a plucky if strange babyface or an awkward germophobe heel. Like when he came back right before he was turned heel, and he was suitably jacked, I scoffed at the notion that tiny ass Seth Rollins would do ANYTHING to this guy. And for their dynamic at the time that worked, but even that Dean against a Brock or a Lashley, Batista, anyone with like real bulk and poundage...it's just not believable. I think that was the main thing Vince saw and booked and Moxley really believed he could sell himself not just as a person who could take a real beatdown because he was a little crazed but also that somehow that psychosis would translate to anyone believing he could trade with a guy like Brock in a fist/street fight.
Delusion and AEW go hand in hand.
So at certain times they’ve tried to build up guys like wardlow Hobbs takeshita perfect example was Hobbs Jericho. Then they’ve picked and chosen their own ways to then bury these guys instead of pushing these young guys they insist on keeping the old guys on top stepping on these young guys to stay on top

Presumably, Moxley has spent months whining and complaining why isn’t he the world champion and why didn’t he win that stupid tournament they did, so now they’ve given him this Japanese title to make him feel all special. And come on, look at HOBBS! He should be beating Moxley, and everybody else, breaking them in half! Until one of their big stars finally does what looked impossible, and just about manages to beat him. I would ask incredulously what is it about this company, where the very few superhuman looking, authentically frightening wrestlers they have on the books, lose lose lose to everybody?!! But we all know what, and who….
Surprised they didn’t notice Hobbs got legit injured. It clearly threw off the rest of the show and forced them to end the show on time due to ending the match earlier than planned.

Hobbs is the man. He is getting booked completely wrong.
If Moxley was interested in working realistic matches a choke out would be plausible. Muscles need air, and blood. Of course they also make it easier to pry off someone trying to constrict airways or arteries if they haven't been impeded already, but there are ways to make a choke out believable because they do happen.
I don't know what the finisher was to be, if it was supposed to be a sleeper or not. Anyway devil's advocate if Hobbs really hurt his knee as bad as it seemed then wouldn't Moxley, if was any audible type, he going for the choke-out make some sense. Instead of keep going and risking of Hobbs getting possibly even more hurt wouldn't been responsible professionalism by Moxley to try to get a quick ending?
What match would people recommend to someone to watch that had never seen an iwgp belt match ? That doesn't involve Kenny O or Willy O
