I'll never forget my first house show. I bought an RVD shirt and was on the guard rail. When he made his entrance he stopped in front of me, patted me on the chest and gave me the thumbs up. That meant the absolute world to that kid.
I’ve watch a lot of wrestling interviews and out of them all your interviews are by far the most entertaining and fun to watch. From hero’s of old to stars of today all have been great to watch and learn new stories and relive old memories. Thanks for the good times.

many years ago at San Diego's Comic Con, when I was about 14 years old (I'm almost 35 now) I ran into RVD in one of the main halls. I was awestruck but had enough courage to go up to him and ask to shake his hand. HE WAS SO NICE. It was just a small interaction but I have never forgotten how cool, chill and kind was RVD with that gesture. Many years later my brother told me how he also saw Rob at a convention and was invited by the man himself to get near him and have a small conversation. For some reason that means even more. A truly nice, down to earth human being who I fondly salute every time i light it up. Cue the RVD chants all the way up from Mexico City!
I admire Rob's integrity, being able to admit that after going through his own situation that he wasn't comfortable doing a Michaels impression. Granted Shawns checkered past, we all grow at our own pace every day. The guys they are now aren't going to go out and bury others just because of their own emotional inadequacies at that particular point in time. It's a perfect life lesson, which can carry over into the business for anyone coming up trying to get a foot in the door. Be somebody you're proud of in the here and now, even if you've already had prideful moments. Great interview Chris. 🤙

When he mentioned having his own vision issues though, it harkened back to times I've heard about being careful of how you treat others because it could come back to you in kind. That's why it was refreshing to see that Rob had changed his outlook on it. It's okay to make mistakes, but it's not okay to relive those same mistakes until self destruction. Thanks for the reply, and it was equally as refreshing to see a comment that wasn't just someone trolling CZcams thinking they'll receive a heated reaction in return.
Im very grateful for RVD on AEW TV in 2023. Amazing times. He's by far the coolest and most down to earth dude in wrestling of all time. Just a really sincere guy.
I've legitimately met Rob when I was younger at a live event here in Virginia and got to keep in touch over the years through x formerly Twitter and I can vouch for that he's a very cool person
@@derekwaters8683 no I'm not lying I met him 20 years ago here at a live event in Virginia in 2003 I got to high five him on the way to the ring Goldberg was defending the world championship in the main event against Christian that night I always remembered meeting him Goldberg because he came by me as my family called for him to take a picture of me and him together and I also met Shawn Michaels 20 years ago as well shortly after he came back to the ring full time to wrestling
I never comment during these but I’ve been a fan since I saw your interview with Dalton Castle a few years ago. Just you and him standing in front of a brick wall right after a match. It’s still my favorite Dalton interview. You guys playing off of each other was gold. For someone as ridiculously handsome as you are, you seem genuinely humble. And that’s the reason I’ve continued to be a fan. As RVD tells you what he’s grateful for… I’m grateful for you and your style.

RVD is one of the goats & in my top 5. RVD still performing at his age is awesome to see, it's like seeing edge, mysterio, Jericho & Christian all do their thing at a high level. Most wrestlers wrestle to age 50+ in the wrestling biz. Adds to their legacy even more so & their all already legends at that. Just incredible to see
My parents were around 30 years when they were constantly saying they were 'old'. This week I saw a post on Instagram about 25 being 'old'. How sad is that? I'm 46 and I live my best life now. I don't feel old at all.
Rob's a stand up guy and a great wrestler. I'm glad that he's still wrestling at a fairly high level in 2023. It's amazing that a ECW mainstay is still active nowadays. The one thing that I would disagree with Rob on is the long term effects of smoking Marijuana. The United States banned testing and research a long time ago. It's almost impossible to really know what long term effects it will have. Rob saying "I'm ok and so is a guy that I buy seeds from" isn't exactly a comprehensive study.
The only thing impossible about it is that we all have different genetic predispositions, there are tons of strains and everyone uses at different levels of quantity/quality. The "studies" wouldnt exaclty glean anything about thc itself, but the variables of usage. At that, Rob may think he's fine for his own standards, but another person may value mental agility and being sharp at all times. Its a complete toss up

I'm 37 and during his prime (1998-2006) he was probably the most talented wrestler in the world bar none and nobody could (or can to this day) pull off what he did in the ring. Even now he wrestles like a man a decade younger than he is. The only reasons he wasn't pushed further was due to backstage politics over his marijuana use leading the higher-ups not having faith in him and Triple H's reign of terror (2002-2004). I suggest watching some of his older matches like One Night Stand 2006 against Cena, Lance Storm in Guilty as Charged 1999, the triple threat on No Mercy 2001, Jericho on Unforgiven 2001, vs Christian on Raw in 2003, vs Jeff Hardy on Invasion 2001, and any match with Jerry Lynn. He was pretty mindblowingly good and JR's commentary during his matches is pretty fun to listen to as well as you can clearly tell that JR has his mind blown a few times lol!
Oh, and his promo against Triple H (it's on CZcams) back in 2002 where RVD makes fun of Triple H to his face about how he is impressed with Triple H's ability to spit water in the air lol 😂, sadly Triple H was visibly pissed and RVD kind of buried himself with it but it was pretty funny.

I didn't have a clue what happened to him same as kurt angle I remember one week they are there and the next they ain't . That was the magic of not having Internet and stuff like we do today as it was a mystery haha. He definitely is one of a kind. I would have to have a look at some stuff prior to 2006 definitely

Ecw dieing the way it did was terrible for rvd. The plan was suppose to be rvd vs awesome title vs title in 2000 with rvd going over. In wwe he was held back. Ecw was real rvd doing his thing.

Exact same mode of slurred voice where they trail off at the end of sentences. They also have this same random occurrences of forgetfulness out of nowhere. It was one single, nit picked example which can never fairly be used to make a general point. For example, my grandfather is 70 and has been smoking cigarettes over 50 years, he just had a scan and the doctor said there was no damage he could find. So does that one nit picked example now mean that cigarettes are harmless in general? Of course not.

I always liked RVD because he never played backstage politics or kissed Vince McMahons ass. He got high, worked hard and stayed true to himself.

I got to see RVD wrestle the year he came into WWE in Portland. I got to meet Prince Albert that day and big show snubbed us.
In 2007 I got to see RVD vs Hardcore Holly at a house show and it is my most fond memory of my wrestling years when I was a kid.
