Much respect to Eric Bischoff I like his insights on the business.. Jim Cornette should be a guest next lol
Jim should drf be on here I love jim
He got Russo, and it was FANTASTIC!
The business side of the business
@@user-cq5nl2gb8tEric is the business side of the business, Jim is the wrestling side of the business, and Russo is the insane mind boggling side of the business while Vince McMahon is all 3 combined
I absolutely love Cornette's opinion of wrestling. If Chris could get Jim on the podcast I'd be both incredibly impressed and surprised.
Eric is spot on about Punk in AEW. The hype was SO huge surrounding his return to wrestling and AEW just fumbled his momentum for months until he started his feud with MJF.
As an AEW fan (not just AEW I enjoy all wrestling) I wholeheartedly agree. I think the booking for AEW has been getting consistently better but after the first 2 or 3 matches the Hype kinda died down
That part with Eric saying about that women reaching out to sit in place of her father, for the wedding was very humbling. Eric seems like a class act for sure! To see him getting emotional about it just shows.
I cry every time I listen to that.
I had the honor of working with him on The Ric Flair Roast and he was amazing to work with. Very straight up and pretty funny actually.
He's back, and better than ever. *Insight* is making things better! Another good chat with Eric. The one you 2 had last year was good and this is no different. Hope you have a great 2023, dude.
Thanks so much man!
That story about the girl who met Eric at a convention and then had her wedding is absolutely touching. Best story I've heard in a while.
Eric’s really been holding onto something personal that was impacting Sting leading into Starrcade 97. That’s just my opinion, but it feels that way. Eric knows something that only he & Sting know, and, right or wrong, he hasn’t spilled the beans on it. To me, it shows how much respect Eric has for Sting as a human. Eric would rather take the heat for the Starrcade finish, rather than admit anything that would put Sting in a less than perfect light. Eric’s used to being the heel.
That's exactly true. He said as much on his 83 weeks that there are some personal things about Sting that were talked about that afternoon that he won't reveal because Sting himself hasn't discussed them in public.
I believe it has something to do with Sting's marital situation at home but beyond that idk
Pretty sure he is referring to stings alcoholism during that period of time.
Yeah, pretty sure Sting was battling addiction & other personal issues around that time. He said himself that he was in a bad place at that point in his life. @@Luciphers_Workshop
Probably referring to Sting’s painkiller addiction at the time maybe.
Yeah it was drugs or booze maybe, but it was pretty much a 90-95% rate of drug/alcohol abuse in wrestling at the time.
Great interview. Eric is a lot nicer of a guy than some may say he is.
Once a again a very successful interview with Eric Bischoff. I always look forward to Eric's interviews, on whatever platform he is on
Its becuase he doesnt have an agenda. Hes nit in the biz anymore so he doesn't feel the need to put himself over like most of these guys
I lost my dad recently and this story is wrecking me 💔💔 you’re the man Eric 💙
I've gained so much respect for Eric bischoff over the years, I hated him in the wars, but the day he showed up on raw, I was ok with him, now I agree with alot of what he says. I'd watch a wrestling show ran by Eric, Cornette, and Jim Ross. That would be wildly successful.
Cornette and JR would be great on a show together (see Corny’s JR omnibus video on his CZcams page for details), but idk if either one would tolerate Bischoff for too long. He’s too full of shit. I like him but about 10-15% of what he says is horse shit. That’s too high for Corny/JR.
The part about gratitude is so important.
Stop comparing yourself to others and enjoying the simple things is a skill that has to be learned.
I always think back to the quote “comparison is the thief of joy”
💯🙏
We need to thank Eric Bischoff because if he didn't fire Stone Cold in WCW we would've never gotten Austin 3:16 era !
N also Thank Paul Heyman..
We better keep the name of ECW up and put some respect on that FED😁😁
Facts
One of the few Godfathers of wrestling. Bring back Bischoff
Eric thanks for sharing that story I have a similar story with my mom I’ll never forget her ordering No Way Out 2003 to watch you vs Stone Cold i get emotional thinking about the excitement on my face that day
Sick! I’m on a 4 hour drive and
This all popped up. Thank you!
Enjoy! Safe travels!
Enjoy seeing and hearing the interviews.Freddy Prince Jr.interview awesome, and Bryan Cage and Cody Rhodes years back awesome.Happy new year and congrats on your blessings.
dope as usual. hope you have the greatest 2023 ever
You too, Mike!
Eric Bischoff is one of my personal favorites to hear talk about wrestling. I like how into the conversation he gets
watched the whole thing. great interview!
Love this! Keep them coming.
Thanks Ernie! Many more to come!
Fun interview, but it's painfully transparent when Bischoff still holds grudge against someone(i.e. Punk at the 40:00 mark). Punk basically set MJF up for where he's been at the past six months from their short feud, whereas MJF didn't come out any better after that yearlong Jericho feud.
Bischoff is a "gaslighter." Punk is not perfect by any stretch, but just listen around the 37 minute mark, Bischoff says punk was weak in ufc, then he's lame mad punk goofed on hulk hogan...then Bischoff gets pushback that punk had real crowd heat(surprisingly good journalism in puff interview) but then Bischoff pivots to aew botched program...Bischoff was always McMahon asset...has to be the situation.
Love Eric bischoff insight...a instrumental part in the wrestling Monday night wars. I'm not the biggest cm punk fan... but he seems to have something against him. You can't deny through everything that's gone on cm punk is a top 5 star in the wrestling business today old or not.
I don't think it is coincidence that I watched this today, hearing you, Chris, talk about your gratitude in watching the sunset because last night I had a similar experience with a thunderstorm, followed by a sunny sky & rainbow. I was driving around, hearing the music from my phone cut out because it was losing reception. I took that as a sign to observe what was going on around me, which was absolutely incredible once I started paying attention to it. I became grateful for that weather, & I started thinking of other things I was grateful for, including people in my life. The happiness I felt was more than I have experienced in quite some time, & I can't help but wonder if that's what meth feels like 😹. I appreciate what you do so much.
this made me actually appreciate Eric and what he’s done for this business.
I always cry when Eric tells the story of walking the wrestling fan down the aisle for her wedding. That's so powerful.
What a cool dude,83 weeks is like a life lesson podcast😂
The audio (especially for Eric) is very quiet in this video
i just realized i had the volume all the way up😂😂😂
The volume levels for a lot of this were too for the usual devices I listen on, I saved it for a later time because I enjoy most content from CVV. 👍✌️❤️
Thank you for asking about his martial arts background. As a martial artist myself i have always wondered
Thanks for checking out the interview!
This is what I wanted since the first interview. Nothing like being there in person 🔥
Wow Eric your an amazing person!! I tiered up during that story!! You should be proud of those moments!! Wrestling has saved my life and has given me life long friends!! Keep on keeping on brother what you and all these men and women do matters on every level!!! Thanks for the interview and especially that story !!!!
This was a perfect interview! Bravo!
Awesome interview!!!!!!
Hey CVV...
Have you done an interview with Sting, yet? I haven't been able to find it, if you have.... he was my all time favorite wrestler in WcW!!!
It would be awesome to see y'all both talk!!!
This guy was my childhood. Simpler times on Raw
You out due yourself with every video keep up the good work brother ❤
i remember when Garett Bischoff made his TNA debut and other than the last name i didn't know his dad WAS Eric Bischoff
I love the wedding story… believe it or not, i used to watch wcw as kid in africa and it was a big part of my childhood. Thank you for creating those memories Eric. 🙌🏽
That was such a good story 🥲
Eric is always a class act, great guy n God Bless him for standing in for the young ladies father at her wedding, that is amazing!!!
I really like Eric. I think he gets a lot of shit maybe some deserved but he is a good man. Hearing that story with the wedding just proves that to me even more!
Thank you CVV for another banger
Can’t wait to get your figure!
I think, in a lot of ways, Eric has been a victim of his own charisma. He was SO damn believable as that napoleon complex, overcompensating owner/general manager that most people just associate that persona with his actual personality. I feel like the same happened to Triple H.
Yeah, he played the arrogant boss very well lol
Fantastic interview
This is one of my favorite interviews you have ever done. Keep it going!
Thanks Timothy!
🙏 awesome conversation
Thanks!
I always wondered for awhile what Eric Bischoff would look like if he dyed his hair black again. Such a great interview and Bischoff always has my attention.
I always enjoy his insights and the level of energy he generates! It gets the audience hyped.
If all the top stars of wcw came over to wwe right away when the invasion angle started it would have been so much better and for sure alot of things would have been different
I grew up in the wwe vs WCW wars amazing part of my life
That wedding story is the best! Shows his heart
Haha the intro with the 2003 theme is too much haha, love it
😎😂
I always liked Eric. But man that story about him walking that woman down the isle just made me love the guy. Hes such a kind person! He is such a legendary person
I love Eric! I could listen to him, JR, Ric Flair talk forever idk why 😂
Flair? Really? You like listening to a pathetic old man talk like a teenager? You like when he constantly talks like partying is SOOOO COOL? He has been a terrible father, a terrible husband, a terrible friend (everyone ends up disassociating with him), and when you hear what he did on that plane ride you have to be a lowlife like he is for that not to change your mind about him.
Eric Bischoff would be on my Mount Rushmore of wrestling!
The singing in the begining lmao
Like hearing Vince trying to sing Bischoff theme song 😂
😂😅
I'm always questioning when it comes to listening to Eric bischoff, obviously he was successful in his own right but he's only honest when it's convenient for him if it paints him in a bad light he's going to twist the truth, he's not a guy you want in the trenches with you, he likes to delegate only, I hear what he has to say but only to a certain point
How do you know? Bischoff has always come across as a straight shooter…he takes responsibility for his shortcomings & doesn’t hide from subject matter.
Generals, CEO’s, Presidents, they all delegate. It takes good delegation to run a successful operation.
@@secondbest2877 Go look at what some of these guys who've worked with him behind the scenes say about him. There are very few people from that era who haven't screwed people over or lied through their teeth. You have to take most folks with a huge pinch of salt.
Tail end of this interview he says he dressed up disguised as an old guy and hit on children in order "to antagonized the wrestlers in a pranking way"...Interviewer does NOT follow up with hey that's weird. I've busted friends chops for laughs, but who the hell hits on children even as joke? And you know they knew it was him and let him hit on a child...kids are not props. Wrast'l is messed up
I really enjoy listening to Eric bishoff he's great.
Mmmmnnnnnkkkmmmnnnnn…nostalgia is just so powerful 😂😂 ah man that was gold! Awesome interview with Eazy E
I did the Nielsen ratings book... They sent $25 Cash!!! I always just checked off WWE and Jeopardy no matter what. I'm sure a lot of people just "vote" like that.
(Keep on crushing it Chris!)
Eric is amazing and was so right about cm punk!
So from what I know neilsen ratings are from cable networks, but are those ratings counted on these new streaming services too?
YOU ARE THE MAN, ERIC BISCHOFF!
42:00 HOW TO END the whole ratings/Nielsen debacle with wrestling: gauge the popularity of TV each week with the attendance #s/ticket sales. THATS how to tell truly how popular the product is. 1998 Nitros averaged 11K each week compared to say, Dynamite with 5K avg..? There's your numbers.
Has YT made new videos quieter? The ads are still really loud
I recently got a letter in the mail from Neilsen offering like 5 bucks or something like that to become a Nielsen household. I only use streaming services so I have no clue how that would even work. I've often thought that AEW is watched online more than on cable.
I can't believe CVV Compared Bischoff to Russo that was Cold af
Bischoff has one of my favorite entrance themes...He was one of many tongues down Stephanie's throat 😂
Best EB interview I've heard
Thanks for checking it out!
Personally, I preferred Eric’s Tito & Tarantula theme. “I’m Back” is a bop but that first one, such a chunky riff 🔥🥵🔥🥵
Hell yeah
Got a pic with Eric Bischoff this year at WRESTLECADE. He was so personable and kind.
Very cool guy.
Eric I love you. Favorite promoter ever. You sound like a hater when you talk about CM Punk or Tony Kahn
I think he’s right about Punk though tbf, I always thought Punk’s ego was bigger than his ability to draw
I finally did it and installed RAID.
Video starts at 3:45
Cool, he got the Jhoon Rhee blackbelt! That's legit.
I used to really dislike Eric but I've spoken to him so much online and he really is a cool guy
He’s such a great guy!
Just don’t talk about politics with him lmao he’s a great dude tho
@@Chandler455 lol facts
For the record Chris in the early 2000's I was an official Nelson household. Now you met somebody...😁

Give me a few more months...
@@ChrisVanVliet you seem like just a good genuine individual. You will find success in anything you endeavor. Look forward to what you achieve in 2023.
The audio is super low on this episode. The RAID add had good sound but then the actual interview wasn't even listenable for me
Eric Bischoff is a genius
The Lead In for the Golden E(AEW) is Big Bang Theory btw🤣😂
I just looked up the airing schedule. Kinda wild to look at their leadin to AEW. 12 episodes of friends, 2 episodes of Big Bang spin-off young Sheldon, 4 episodes of Big Bang, and then followed by more episodes of Young Sheldon. But Eric wa incorrect about Power Slap leading into Dynamite. It will actually directly follow Dynamite at 10. It’ll be an interesting test for AEW. Can it help carry an audience into another show of a similar genre for an eight week season? Will be interesting to see.
awesome fan story
I don't know anyone around me that has cable anymore. I watch AEW live on hulu
CZcams TV here
Can we get Eric on an episode of Yellowstone? He’d be a great villain 😂
4:25 those of us that live in Vegas 😒. 😂😂
I understand the thinking behind the top star being either positively or poorly represented based on the ratings, however in AEWs case there is so much crap in that company that if we're being honest it'd be hard to honestly label one person as the problem. Regardless of your feelings on Punk.
That intro tho lol
😎
I'm on Team Ric Flair WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Time to get vinnymac and Shane o Mac on your show Chris. Lol
"Don't you guys have phones?!" - Blizzard
You who know, you know.

Eric Is kinda a 🐐
In Vegas? And you didn't invite me buddy?
Ok I’m not going to lie, I can see how Dixie Carter fell for his shit. Dude is great at selling things
In the beginning of this wasn't sting much like hbk and others at the time pill popping? Could have sworn sting went through addiction issues back then
