- Edward Norton didn't need much time to establish himself as an acting powerhouse on screen. The Boston-born, Columbia, Maryland-raised actor who began his career off-Broadway, talks to Kevin Polowy about some of the biggest films of his career.

Primal fear is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Great film.
"There was never any Aaron" line still gives me chills.
watch more films
Lee Lorenz your comment is not even needed. You should have just kept scrolling.
100%
I was stunned by the ending of primal fear.
I literally physically felt it.
Roy-Aaron was an awesome character.
Him as 'Worm' in Rounders was better than his performance in Fight Club
'Primal Fear', 'American History X' and 'Fight Club' were three of the greatest and most defining performances of the 90s as well as all time. Edward Norton is a genius!
History X, Primal sure. But FB? Pitt did that. Edward as the counter. But Pitt was he star. Just a difference of opinion, sir. Nothin more
Dave Studdaman I agree that Brad Pitt stole the show in Fight Club, but Norton was great as well. It just happened that Pitt’s character was able to showcase his personality much more than Norton’s character.
For you, but for me Norton was the star @@davestuddaman8127
god i could listen to him talk all day
When Edward goes on to say "We read the books" about Fight Club it had me saying to myself,
"If only actors/screen writers ect still did that today"
💔
Primal fear is Edward norton’s “rain man” moment.. what an acting.
He is one of the best actors known. In my opinion. One of my favorite movies because the acting was so good.
I loved him in red dragon 🐉.. he was awesome.
Finally, an interviewer who just winds up Ed Norton, then steps back and lets him go. This is more interesting info than the majority of interviews I've seen. Good work!
The best, underrated Norton performances/films I think are in: "Down in the Valley", "Death to Smoochy", "Stone" (which he mentions in this interview), and "The Painted Veil". "Valley" is my personal favorite.
I agree to everything! Those are in my top for sure!
and 'kingdom of heaven', even though he was only a supporting character. still, i feel like he owned the movie.
Primal fear and American history x are his best movies incredible actor
I do think the same.
American History X is his best movie!👍
Ed Norton is still super hot. And interesting.
*why cause he's a star?.*
He looks like my memaw
He is one fine actor 👏👏
also a very fine man
I remember seeing Primal Fear in the movie theater and was blown away by the ending. Didn't see it coming.
2008 Hulk was insane. Mark Ruffalo may have fit better in the MCU, but Norton was in my opinion the best as a singular film..
He gave an amazing physical and vocal performance in Kingdom of Heaven, though you never saw his face.
The most generous Ed's interview.
best 48 minutes i’ve ever spent
*Amazing actor & a genuine person, Edward Norton is very scary when he gets angry in his films, especially in Primal Fear, American History X, & Fight Club, especially in the scene when he destroys Jared Leto's Angel Face!. Joaquin Phoenix actually turned down American History X because he felt that it was too intense, Ed Norton took a pay cut to be be in the film.*
Glad Phoenix turned it down. Norton was perfect 👌 in “X”
Great interview. Thank you for this.
One of the greatest interviews ,with any actor, that I've ever seen.
Consider me subscribed.
"Joyful Hand Grenade" I love it. I love how the video game generation developed much more complex metaphorism.
What a great interview!!!!
One of my favorite actors ❤️. I have a really soft spot for two of his roles, Hulk and King Baldwin. I enjoy listening to interviews, his voice is relaxing, wish he'd do more work with it. Maybe audiobooks or documentaries. Narration in games/movies would also be amazing.
I saw 'Primal Fear' at the cinema and I remember thinking as I watched Edward Norton - particularly in the scene where he flips - 'hell, this is the next De Niro.'
Funny he was in 'Cape Fear'
Brilliant actor 👏
What a body of work!
Edward Norton is the fucking man!!
That nose break happened in either Rounders or The Italian Job.
Great interview but Im just disappointed the only question he asked about Fight Club was: "were the fighting scenes really intense?"
Ralph Fiennes was the New Mr Darcy after Schindler's list and The English Patient. My mom thought he was more hot than chili sauce.
I thought like Leonardo DiCaprio he superceded like, the mask of his shockingly clear good looks to become more as an actor. Really phenomenal
Do more acting 🎬🎭🎭 Edward 🙏🙏
Legend.
Add to the great's Edward Norton has done "The Illusionist",, the story was excellent, Paul Giamatti and Jessica Biel did their part to make one of film's finest. I'm convinced "The Illusionist" was never given it's just due,, but that's only my VERY BIASED opinion. I am not afraid to say I am a fan of Edward Norton. He - in my humble opinion - stands beside Ed Harris among film's finest craftsmen.
the illusionist is a great movie
I AM A HOLY SPIRITUAL PURE INNOCENT MAN I CANNOT BE THINKING ABOUT THIS 50 YEAR OLD DUDE LIKE THIS GRR HELP 👹👹 I NEED TO GET OUTTA MY MIND NOWWW

antisemite
so many people are sleeping on him, huh.
He is fucking cute as hell
Reds is really one the best films I've ever seen. It's epic and dramatic. It doesn't get its due.
❤❤❤❤❤
I mean, apart from Polly's Nation, I was trying to tell some people about my bad dreams , and I might have bloked my adjectives somewhat. I wasn't sure everyone could really summon the queasily throbbing technicolour, the disconcerting contrast effect that used to happen with properly processed celluloid. I used to get car sick, I guess it was like that. So when I adventured into photography I had this properly subconscious urge to show everyone the really real unreality of it. I wanted to sneak up the viewers and sort of surprise their eyeballs, you know. Not unpleasantly.
In England they play a game called "Duck, duck , goose" and I guess that's the sort of anticipation I liked to evoke.
That was "Misery Loves Company" by Emilie Autumn . I love the idea that she's this tiny nightmare babe lol you knew she was trouble when she walked in.
Anyway the overexposure value was partially due to the chemicals used in processing that would burn through a lens and a lamp and basically until the more complex colour development processes were invested in, basically it would leave a silhouette on the paper. Really it was heartening you know like sweet to learn about it since that's basically the domain of bold new futurists now.
Once I had a bad dream that everyone on TV was dead and in he'll, where basically really convoluted witchcraft experiments were conducted in clandestine workshops. I remember watching this one guy experiment with developer acid, and depending on what acid he used would change the person he saw in the photo. Like malic acid and lemon juice etc anyway the picture was of the demon. Like "Who Killed Laura Palmer" twin peaks style but the opposite. You don't want to meet the acid demons.
you know the really wildest of magical experiments seriously nobody survives to yap about. Anyway they all fall out of their separate hells one summer when a theme park full of nazi clones gets drowned on a rollar coaster in a hurricane, just when they were getting g used to hell rules:
Don't ever talk to invisible people. One team of demons says it's you and they drug you up to the eyeballs , the other know it's a nano-cloud hologram and never ever say.
Like... the old "Degrees of a Sphere" joke I made when I was young
One of the best actor in the world (his best role - American History X = Alpha Male). Very underated like Christian Bale and Tom Cruise
So Derek Vinyard was supposed to be Thomas Jefferson without Sally Hemmings...?
UHHHH NO EDWARD I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT UNDERSTANDING A SKINHEAD 💀
i think some actors get burned out. why is he and DeNiro and Michael Keaton not putting out the performances they used to?
As much as they love to drool over Fight Club it differs in depth from these other in my view greater films in that FC is ultimately an over the top fiction comedy. We know that it's not real. Those movies before especially AHX carry a lot more weight. FC is just pure entertainment at it's best.
The painted veil
*You should of asked Questions !!!!...Actors will just talk about themselves to no end and what you end up with is a one dimensional conversation. Ask him What happened on the set with Tony Kaye.Something easy.*
Seeee??? Help out others, get helped put.
🤗
Ksskkwkske
Noo dude.
It's criminals...
Congratulations Germans granted your support in medicine Daniela Vaticano
OH NAWWWWW NOT THE RACIST PIZZAMAKER
Norton is a guy who desperately needs to edit himself. I use this to fall asleep lol….great actor and probably a good writer as well but the art of writing is to know what to put in and to know what to take out. Most of this 49 min video could have been condensed to 10 min honestly. Make him 85 and he’s Lionel Barrymore.
That’s the thing. I can relate to Ed because I have all these great ideas in my brain, but when I speak it’s just mixed up words. I have too much to say, and I’m thinking about way too much so I just mess it all up. I’m not saying I’m as smart and clever as Edward Norton, that would be insane. But I will say that I sound like a complete idiot when I speak but my thoughts are normal.
Yeah, authentic conversation sucks.
@@russelllatino6761 Authentic?
Unduly authoritative and a little pompous. He clearly felt he was meant for great things and it didn’t come to pass.
Norton is an excellent actor, one of the best of his generation, and most actors are narcissists, but he is an INCREDIBLE narcissist.
Considering the real world we live in, actors are nothing more than very well paid useful idiots.
Completely detached from reality.
don't do babygirl like that 💀💀
I love falling asleep to narcissists talking about themselves ❤🤭🫡🫡
