That is an awesome color Andy. Thank you for the great video as usual
Andy you have done a fantastic job with this model and tamiya should be commended for such a great model Steve 🇬🇧
Absolutely a beautiful car recreated beautifully by Tamiya built beautifully by Andy. Great work!
Very nice built-review. Seems it is a very very nice kit and extremly easy to assemble. Thanks for showing.
Turned out very nice. Far more complex body than I expected it to be.
You did a fine job Andy, looks great. Racing Fords to me are always blue, all the Shelby's, cobras etc. Again, that's my impression. Ferrari is red. So when I build mine it will be blue. That's the beauty of plastic modelling, we can build our own dreams.
yeah, it's the international auto racing color. Italy is red, USA is blue with white stripes en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_international_auto_racing_colours
kalbs89, if you sand ALL the paint off, you can do a decent job on a metal body model. I've done it on a 1/24 Mercedes rally car because to me, most rally cars tend to be white. It came out nicely.
I am the same. Ford racing means blue and white stripes. I will be going with those colors. But it is your model and feel free to do any color you want.
I agree 100%. When i think of Ford I think blue with white stripes.
Mine will be mom-jeans tan.
Very well done! Simply beautiful. Thanks for sharing and I also appreciate the tips.
Beautiful build Andy, Thanks for sharing.
Amazing kit, Tamiya engineering at it's best! Great build Andy, thanks!
Very nice build. That color is awesome

Amazing placement of the wind shield! 😆 👌
AMAZING!! Great build and nice model from tamiya!!!
This is my first time building a model car so this really helped!
I didn't know how to apply the cement! 🤣
That is a awesome ford. I wish i could build and paint them like you do. Love your channel. keep it up please.
Love your energy, pressed like instantly. awesome build too
What a beautiful job 😎
Great job...perfect time to use those Splash paints!
What a save on the Glue Accelerator! Car's looking fantastic!
Very nice mate top job looks stunning thanks for sharing
Notification from Andy’s Hobby Headquarters 😱
Awesome build as always Andy! Keep the videos coming
Great job, Andy! Looks like a wonderful kit.
I always use white glue to the clear part 😁😁 really fine and outstanding job !!! Love it!
I didn't expect this level of detail, but I need to thank you for doing justice to this vehicle. It's one of my favorites, and the final product looks GREAT!
Job well done Andy. Kudos to Tamiya for engineering this model so accurately. I'm impressed in every way.
Now, if I only had the patience to build my model rockets to this level. :(
Stella job ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really enjoyed watching the build👍🏼
Glad to see you may be joining the Splash Paints bandwagon! Great product!
Awesome kit and build buddy! Looking forward to getting one!!
Thanks for sharing, lots of work in building these things. Looks great. I had problems with glue on windshields on my earlier builds and didn’t know about the car wax trick, thanks for sharing that. I use clear glue for clear parts now and have not had problems since. Will be looking for this kit when it comes out and definitely eyeing that smoke black color! Cheers 🍻
Looks really good Andy. Nice work.
Love your click and pop videos.
Try putting your decals in water backing side up...it keeps the curl from happening. I put them in water for 20 sec or so then pull them out and let them sit on my mat face up. It keeps the backing rigid so it's easier to slide. I use warm water and swap it out half way through. Also add a drop or 2 of decal solution in the water to break the terger pressure.
Tamiya Racing Blue was made for this kit. Along with metallic red.
That looks great!
Hello Andy, thx for showing... now i must have this kit. I even have the race-car from REVELL and the street-car has to stand with it side-by-side. Great modelling job!!! Greetings from Germany.
AWESOME JOB ANDY.!
Looks amazing and ben thinking of useing splash paint. This made my mind up.
Awesome!!
Great kit and build
I hate that you spilled your glue, but it makes me feel so good when I think of the 4 or 5 I’ve dumped and the told myself “never again, I’m putting the lid on securely each time”. Lol. Great, great vehicle. Great build! Was looking forward to this!!
Mate...I really can care less about cars, however you made that thing look awesome. I almost want to build it, seriously. Great job!!
Great job.!
A great build Andy. I have to say I like blue better but the red is stunning.
Dang Andy couldn't keep his mitts off this kit! Looks a real treat and love the color!
MASTERPIECE
Being a car guy all I can say is great video. I voted for the blue but the red looks awsome. Running low on a few supplies so will make a trip in to the shop in the new year. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.
Use Meguiars plastic polish. Amazing stuff. Most auto stores will have it in their detailing department. How about a fine wash in the panel lines. Based on your armor, you should be pretty good at it. I use a true watercolor prior to the clear since it is so forgiving. Add a very small drop of dish soap to the water and it should go down nice and smooth. Sorry, this is an outstanding build Andy!
Wow. I always admired you guys on this hobby. Always wanted to buy one and try to build myself but very doubtful of my capabilities. This video makes me want to start building one. Thanks
Me 2.
Beautiful build Andy! A nice change from armor , don't get me wrong I love your armor builds but it's nice seeing something different from time to time , again great build , love the red and white
this kit looks amazing… i guess, it would be awesome with the Tamiya blue in the spray can on your bench, too..!
Great as always Andy, I don't see any tracks though, lol! Thanks for sharing!....Bill
I was hoping you would paint it black with graphite stripes, however, I now think you could paint it any colour you like and it would still look great. Fantastic build and model.
I’m really looking forward to this car. I just purchased the Tamiya Ninja H2 R
That's an awesome build, Congrats! The only thing I'd do different (aside the body colour) is painting the A pilars black.
andy … nice paint-job … took note of the 'layering' effect you applied … the end result proved awesome. and the color you chose was, in my view, spot on.
reading a couple of the other comments … it's true, having gaps in body panels would make it look more authentic. s'been 50+ years since i sat down to glue a kit together … maybe it's time i picked up a kit. also, keeping those mirrors detachable was a nice tip.
btw, andy … loved that tchaikovsky in the background.
Wow!
Great job, nice clean build. Splash paints are base coats and require gloss coats. Base coats are easier to paint as you are not trying to obtain a gloss with the base coat, only a good a solid base for the gloss top coats, which can be sanded out, like Andy did. Maybe if you build another one of these, you might consider spraying the stripes.
I think spraying the stripes on would look better than the decals.
Andy you've got a better advertisement for the Ford GT then Ford will ever give
if you've ever seen a real one, they are incredible; looks to be going 120 while standing still!!
Good video on this new kit.
I ‘ll like to say that for model car kit building, the car body is best to be sprayed with aerosol spray paints like Tamiya spray cans.
The thickness of the spray can paint work always appeared ‘true scaled’ against the real car. Whereas, air brush painting suits military models building as the objects are not refine products as compared to flashy automobile. In fact , I do air brush only on my presentation drawings.
Spray can painting whether is gloss or clear coat on metallic colour on a well prepare ,cleaned, and sun warmed up body will give you a high gloss and stabilised looks without any polishing.
You can sun bake the model car body under the sun in a clear booth but with proper ventilation for half a day to achieve a more sharp and permanent look. The model will appear closer to a metal automobile rather than a plastic object. Never spray a car model body on a rainy day !
To achieve variation in colour finishes from standard spray cans, you can venture into using light metallic colour coat on different undercoat colour to alter the finished look. It is fun to see your own version of colour scheme for car model building. After all, the car industries are now producing cars of exciting colours.
As for this Ford GT kit, it is really well made except short on engine compartment details. On those meshed air intakes areas, I think using nylon mesh netting as substitutes is better and relevant.
Have fun!
Great the videos nice greetings from the Rhineland
Looks awesome Andy! Maybe you could get your buddy Luka to finish a model car too!
Andy, one tip to help with decals: try to use hair drier to warm up and get it to conform, it works with basicaly any decal, is like the vinyl wrap in the real cars. fantastic job! cheers.
i appreciate this
Great video as always. But honestly the doors make this model look a bit like a toy, they should have had a little gap there. But you could create that effect also by a sharp knife and Tamiya panel liner.
Sorry, seen you comment after I made mine. I agree, 100%. Must be a panel gap.
mine is still on the shipping but still great videos as always thank you uncle Andy if I may call you that.
Very nice, make me wanna go buy and build one myself.
On the finished model, I think a bit of panel lining on the doors would make it even more realistic, just my personal taste I guess.
Jeez, I'm seeing all these comments about panel gaps after I post mine. Lol
I’ve never used the panel accent on a finished body. How does that turn out looking?
Great channel...just subscribed.....you should do more cars. ....
Que suerte os quedan geniales yo hace mucho que no cojo una pero nunca las pintaba me quedarían fatal. Te la compro
Wonderful, sneaker.
I'd also whip out an IWATA Custom HP-TH for the bodywork, get some paint on there, lad!
Greatings from Poland
reminds me of burnout revenge
nicely done!!
do a kv2 !
Fun build Andy! This is a Ford production car and not the race version, so I would have painted it red too. Chip Ganassi's cars are red, white & blue.
I bought the Tamiya Ford GT kit and I am following your video and the instructions. What do the little x's with a number signify? I understand the parts trees by clor and the decals, but no clue of the x's. Enjoyable build so far.
Very clean build! The kit looks a lot nicer than the Revell race version, I hope Tamiya make a racing version of this. It would be great if Tamiya started making their cars with weighted and bulged tires though, as an aircraft builder this omission really stands out to me, but I rarely hear car modellers mention it.
Andy, I noticed you did not scribe out the body lines. Was there any issue with paint obscuring them?
I wish Tamiya has more variety in terms of cars. I just love their kits: wonderfully designed and always deliver the top notch quality. But they just lack some other European brands.
Wondering if it's better to paint all the body panels separately before building. I think it would be easier to wet sand and polish instead of doing it with all the panels in place.
That’s a really nice-looking kit, I just got one for my 14th birthday, but I’m still wondering how you got the paint in the inner side of those rear fin-thingies behind the side windows?
Question: Why did you leave that panel near the base of the doors black? Its not like that on the production cars and looks a bit jarring as you've left it.
Almost done with this kit. I am struggling to attach the chassis to the body. Any tips?
greatings frim Poland man
I’m actually doing this kit right now. Super nice super good quality. I love the tamiya kits I feel like I don’t ever want to buy another revell or Amt again. And the mpc and the monogram ones are always straight garbage. I love this ford kit but it was definitely a pain in the ass getting a few things where they need to be. Very very tedious on some of this stuff. Yours came out really nice though man. Props.
Beautiful job. Can you advise what wax you used to polish out the window? I have a glue issue on my Citroen 2CV And I’d love to correct it. Thanks
What type of sanding sticks are those? Awesome build Andy! Wish I had your skill when I built a Charger R/T about 2 years ago.
You ever thought of accentuating the panel gaps by painting them black with a very fine brush? It adds a depth of realism for sure.
Do you do a clear coat over the decals?
I'm so surprised the lacquer laid down so well without any primer haha nice job!
Splash paints are AWESOME!!! I use them all the time. It lays down a bit better if you do a light tack coat on the whole piece and let it sit for about 5 minutes and then spraying your full coat.
Thanks for the great build review Andy. What did you end up using for the interior red accent color ? I didn't catch you identify that so my bad if I missed it. Also, the exterior color looks great. Did you have any issues getting color or clear sanding the rear body forward of the engine glass. I'll call them sailplanes, but they look to be tucked up out of easy access. Would you recommend painting body parts before assembly in this area ? I think I've seen that recommended in other reviews of this kit but would appreciate your thoughts. Again, thanks for the build.
merry xmas andy
Gluing prior to painting makes it easier to attach the parts together. However, polishing/sanding such curved scoops is much easier when they are separate.
Good job Andy, you should start using 2k clear on car and bike models
looking good and see ore as popted
Nice man Andy how long start to finish. You made it look easy my friend. Thanx
Trying to visualize the body with a couple of coats of Pearl as the final coats before putting on the decals.
Those tamiya nippers are they the normal gold seal ones or some new cutter? What is the tamiya model number? Thanks.
really good job!was curious though why you didn't choose to use primer?
What do you clear coat interior like the Seats with?
And do you clear coat everything also? Like brakes, suspension and such?
LOL, and what metallic powder?
Didn't the Splash Paints instructions specify that you should have primed it first?
I voted for the blue car from the box but red doesn't look bad at all....great job. It's actually a good kit that is also manageable for starters I reckon.. Perhaps you can add that to your reviews/builds??...Your opinion about the advancement of the kit. Not all kits are created equal from my own experience and some do require a bit more experience.
@Andy's Hobby Headquarters do you have the part number for those cutters?
Any primer or soapy wash before painting the body?
