Mike should invite Teddy to his Hotboxin Show, imagine all the great stories they talk about. 🥊❤️
Unfortunatelly I don't think they get along very well...
Silviu Valentin Măreșescu they had made up a couple years ago mike had apologized to teddy it’s on CZcams
Wont happen. Bad blood. It was a we are both here in sorry.
J E I know the story but honestly he was a little kid. He was 15 years old come on. They growin mans now.Mike apologizes for that and felt sorry you can hear that in several different interviews.
They should come back together with Kevin Rooney and do a Hotboxin Show. They should keep the Cus legacy alive.
But hey this is our wish let’s see what happens in the future!! 🥊
Mike made it clear he has no grudge against Atlas in this snippet czcams.com/video/i-wJHuMLtYc/video.html
TYSON IS A BOXING PRODIGY AND GENETICALLY GIFTED
No shit
Mike's a Beast
Was...
When you take a kid and train them to kill Mike Tyson is the result, genetics play a small part. You’re taking away the years, months, days and hours of gruelling training that Mike Tyson has to do to get to where he was
@@narcodium genetics played a huge part, in tysons career. He was 200 pounds of muscle at 12...to acknowledge that doesnt take away shit from anything
No matter what teddy say. He have to admit. He was in presence of something Iconic to come. TYSON
Teddy is fantastic story teller... You always walk away with something, a truth, insight, a question or smile. I could listen to the early day stories with Cus and Mike all day 👍🏽.
Believe me, Teddy is a great story tell and greater man.....
If I were to hazard a guess, I’d speculate that Teddy’s anger toward and disappointment in Mike is amplified by the fact that he loves him like his own son, it would be cool to see them on the same team again someday.
Certainly Teddy carries some bitterness. Eitherway mike had achived far more than teddy could dream of.
By the time Teddy got round to explaining that he was 12 Mke actually turned 18 😂
PROUD_BRIT Bwahahaha
That was funny! LOL!
LOL Hilarious !
BAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
lol
Love teddys loyalty man, last of a dying breed
Tax-bitchass biyatch why?
As Teddy was telling the story I could tell that he was vividly reliving it. Too bad Tyson's original team couldn't have been keep intact. Tyson was a shooting star, the greatest, the most physically gifted heavyweight ever, who self defeated.
Nobody could beat Mike Tyson, but Mike Tyson.
Anyone else notices the love and compassion in Teddy's voice when he talks about Mike? I hope to see him one day on Hot Boxin.
Teddy talkin bout Mike literally is the best thing I’ve seen throughout this whole quarantine.
Man, this story made my day. Never heard it before.
I remember seeing footage of a young mike tyson and young teddy atlas at the junior Olympic trials in colorado where they are outside and tyson is crying because he was scared and nervous before his fight and teddy had to calm him down and reassure him he was ready. Teddy asked mike what he was going to do and mike said I'm going to hit him with some 7s.....8s etc. Those combinations were numbered. A series of numbers....and mike started shadow boxing and calmed down and then they walked into the venue.
I watch that on VHS too. But I wasn't there.
I love hearing Teddy speak good about young Iron Mike. I definitely dont like when he kinda talks down about Mike... Mike isnt perfect he's got many demons but he was dealt a shitty hand & made it a Str8 Flush!
Antnee U R A GOOOOOOD ONE
@Ken Healy Teddy put a gun next to Mikes head and fired to scare him, this happened because Tyson grabbed the butt of Teddys niece.
"speak well"...and to say to say that a guy who was born with the kind of super human dna was dealt a shitty hand is a bit much...
War eagle 🦅!
@@robertchflynn I was referring to his poor upbringing which I'm sure was physiologically damaging.. Not his physical attributes. You could be built like Zeus but if you dont have smarts you wont get far...
What's up with Teddy today? Never seen him compliment Mike like this for years.
Anything for more money my dude u already know
I dunno I saw a video from a few days back where Mike was talking about the incident and very apologetic perhaps he saw it
@@ZAKAR777 U sound asleep
@Bijan Mehrpour
You told him what happened in your above comment? Wtf. Ha. You know, not everyone cares about and bows down to this trash ass "cancel-culture" that these idiot kids are on these days. Atlas is a grown ass man with his own opinions. I highly doubt he's changed his mind about something just because some people who mean nothing to him disagree with what he said. Also, just because it's your opinion that its the reason doesn't mean that its the reason. You act all indignant because the guy didn't agree with your assessment. I think you're wrong, and even if you're right, fuck you, you're still wrong. 😂
Bijan Mehrpour stfu talking like you know 😂 mug
The Teddy Atlas/Mike Tyson “Last Dance” would be bigger than the Jordan/Bulls “Last Dance”!
Fuck Teddy, Rooney was the man.
@@Rocatagliata25 Teddy and Cus made him. Rooney maintaned him
@@petergriffin6223 Cus made him... Teddy put a GUN in a teenage Tyson's face.. how come he doesn't talk about that, since he's so possessive of his history with Mike .. Mike did some wildness with a teenage girl in Teddy's family & Teddy got kicked out of the Cus household after the gun incident.. So he didn't "make shit"
@@reoscorpio Yes he actually did. He was his basically first trainer and made his style what it is. Cus just did the mental part. So yeah
@@petergriffin6223 Teddy just repeat what Cus told him to do. But Rooney took Tyson to the next level, look at Tyson first fights in 1985 and then look at how technically and ferocious he became in 1986.
The sweat hitting the wall and the plantains/mouthpiece part had me laughing!
Great to see Teddy soften and talk about the great story of him bringing Mike to the world.
I get the Mike/Cus story, great story too, but I really like the detail and insight Teddy shares of those early days of Mike coming up, and let's be honest, no-one else can tell that story like Teddy, not even Mike.
Thanks for this.
Teddy is the kind of friend that would die for ya,excellent men.
Wouldn't it be great if teddy went on Tyson's podcast and vice versa!
Yeah let's speak that into existence, it would be a great moment for both of them
I'm thinking the same thing. It'll be nice to see good Mike and Ted go back down the memory lane
@Tax-bitchass biyatchNew Mike is too righteous to do that.
✌✌✌
Thank you for these stories 👌👍
When he said, "nuthin", I teared up a little bit.
"Its like riding a bike again after awhile for Mike" - Teddy Atlas
6:47 u can tell teddy actully really loved mike
Could listen to teddy tells stories for hours.. great voice for fight stories!
Teddy, thank you for being great to Mike. What a story.
This is awesome!! 💯 I wanna hear more stories
Thank you for this story
Teddy loves a long story. Teddy also loves short stories, it just takes him a long time to tell them!
Imagine being the toughest senior in high school and getting your butt kicked by a kid in Jr. High
Insgine 60 year old man who never married looking for young black kids to live with them in a mention up in the woods. Imagine being Mike Tyson sleeping in the same bed with Cus.
Its easy if you...research a bit.
Bo Hahimer imagine a dumbass like you who is old and can’t spell
Cabbageman Any reason is good enough if you want to ignore the message. Despite your ability to understand it.
@@bohrora2293 As if anyone is going to google that shit to find out if you telling the truth you sick fuck
Bo Hahimer, from what I’ve read and seen, which is quite a lot about cus, I’ve never read or seen anyone Mike/teddy/Rooney etc ever say anything other than love and respect for cus, he was in a relationship with Camille. And said he wouldn’t marry her because he was married to boxing, I don’t think his house was neverland 🥊
Teddy scares me with just making the sounds
BANG BANG! BOOM BANG!
Special guy...not just to Mike but to the Sweet Science....I miss him a lot as with ESPN boxing and in general...He is in my mind a wonderful Ambassador of the Sport!
Awesome story!
Teddy was good for mike,a true guardian and excellent trainer.
I could listen to this guy ALL DAY LONG....
Imagine mike teddy and Kevin Rooney now doing a interview together
Sadly, I hear Kevin Rooney isn't doing well
+ Steve Lott
Baron von Zlatan Steve Lott is a prick
@CZcamsUser Well I don't "know" for sure, but rumor has it he's been battling alcoholism for years and is near the end of his life
SWP 215 he’s a false little bitch who lives off Tyson’s name
Teddy is a great story teller. Paints the perfect picture
Would love to see Mike patch things up with both Teddy and Kevin Rooney on Hot Boxin. Mike was unstoppable with either of these two guys.
Luv listening to Teddy, true gentleman 😀👍
I know its highly unlikely but it would be amazing if Teddy and Tyson could make amends, they really have a bond that we cant even understand and I'd love to see them on one another's shows!
Tyson did actually approach teddy atlas at ringside and shook his hand
@@Dazz2812 Yea I saw that, they spoke for like 30 seconds ringside but I'd like to see listen to them shooting the shit about the old days with Cus.I dont know about Teddy but I know Tyson would end up balling his eyes out.
@@mike2200 ah so you must have seen the same clip am talking about and after it was just Tyson saying "yea a just wanna make piece with everyone a had a beef with" and yea would be interesting even if atlas invited Tyson on to his show pretty sure that would do some decent views
Teddy has seen every fight ever except for Tyson-tucker, Tyson-rudduck(x2), tyson-thomas. Tyson-tillis. These guys fought back and fought hard. Mike was a child then. Maybe he was a warrior, I don't know how you explain getting into slugfests with Rudduck and winning, and saying he didn't beat anyone fight back.
Yeah, it’s the Ruddock fights I always think of when Teddy says no one ever fought back. I’m no expert, but it didn’t look like Ruddock was scared to fight back. Quite the opposite. Ruddock showed us how good Mike’s chin was!
Howling Mad Murdock 🤝
🤝
What Teddy is saying is essentially true because although Mike Tyson fought these guys hard they didn't have anywhere near his talent and explosiveness. Tyson didn't prepare properly for these guys because he was king of the mountain at the time. Maybe Tyson fought hard in these few fights, but he could have prepared better with a more clued in trainer and that's a fact. With Tyson at his best, these guys wouldn't have had a prayer.
@@enochbrown8178 Tyson vs tony tucker when he was a teenager and he outboxed the champ in his prime? Watch that fight. Tucker was a great fighter and fought hard. Tyson had Rooney and was prepared, reacting to Rooney's instructions during the fight.. this is a kid doing this. And he always did it against heavier and much taller guys.
The bronx is the same today. Teddy's talking about the PAL on Longwood.
No it's not bro. The Bronx is not the same since 1998. That's fox st. pal
I thought that through, and you're right. Used to be drugs all over that block, from bruckner to prospect, but it's pretty cleaned up these days. I was really talking about the golden gloves bouts that still go on in that PAL.
The PAL, that’s Fox street and Longwood avenue near the 6 train line, Longwood avenue train station on Southern Blvd. (2 and the 5 train line in the other direction a few blocks up at the Prospect train station). That entire neighborhood has changed a lot. Still some gang and drug activity in the area for sure but not as bad as the 80’s and 90’s. The cars still “speed race” underneath the Bruckner from time to time but not as much as before. The South Bronx is getting better, very slowly, but surely. NOTE: Former Army General and Secretary of State Colin Powell, spent some of his early childhood in that area along Fox street.
Teddy old school..thats why I love him
It would be fun to see Teddy train Mike for his comeback; that would be outrageous. This country could use a healing story like that.
Imagine a video pops up in your suggested videos to watch, As your casually scrolling threw youtube one evening... And its Teddy holding the mitts for Tyson!!! And teddys shouting out some crazy commands and combinations that mike is just executing with epic power and percion that makes you think even Roy Jones Jr himself starts to re think this hole exabition fight lol.
I wish they made a movie that shows Tysons beginning, especially this exact story from Teddy. Really is a movie like story.
Tyson and Loma (and Golovkin) are my favorite fighters. Mayweather next.
Teddy! He’s Mike Tyson! Just let him be and be proud to be a part of the story. I’ve read both your books ha!
Cool video thanks
Weird to hear nice words from Teddy about Mike. Nice one Teddy, thumbs up 👍
Why you trying to talk over atlas dude
cause Teddy would never shut up...he needs direction.
He is not, microphones are pointing in wrong directions
@@joeaverage7743 Exactly
I know annoying
To much powder
teddy makes great analogies
No one bet against that Michael Tyson kid ever again.👊
To all you casuals, this is not the norm. It’s as complimentary as you’ll ever see Teddy towards Mike lol
Tremendous story
You know this interview explains why teddy always saw mike not so much as a fighter, I thought he was just hating on mike, but he really just still sees him as that kid he was protecting even when he grew up as a man.
Teddy sounds like a responsible father
Damn, teddy still loves Tyson. There's a lot of heartbreak there
teddy was a big part of training Tyson into a champion.he must still feel something for mike.teddy cares about his fighters even after all the ugliness of that breakup and mikes betrayal of teddy.teddy must still have good memories training mike as a teenager.
Hey guys, I hiope everything is good and ok by you. Thank you Rob for picking this one. It's good not to lose this kind of history, imvho. Cheers guys! :)
I’m from the Bronx too. Crazy place.
As you said... And I qoute "Boxing Saves Young Men" unqoute! Every major city London wherever these are true words.... Deliberately one of the best trainers In the World... Also the ability to make people who do not know boxing understand the technicalities of this sport... Definitely one of greatest Training Mentors ever❤️🇬🇧🙂👍
Sorry definately one of the best 100%
Daniel Dubois, Is is on his way up.... Would beat Wilder Now, but being very carefully brought forward only! Now 22 years old funny I remember trainer's betting on whi would win when I was.. 10 years old... Put me up against I guy alledfed to be tasty.... up and coming, well may god strike me down. I knocked this kid out... Problem was he had 18/19 year old brothers.... This was in East London... Good Job I was a good sprinter loliii I could achieve 100 metres in 11.4 seconds No strength or muscularity which came later.. lol 😂
There's a ten year age difference between teddy and mike so "big brother" is more appropriate
No, "big brother" is not nearly appropriate because Mike Tyson had the mind of an adolescent way into his 30's. He needed someone like Teddy to guide him into being a man, but Cus D'Amato short-circuited Teddy's influence on him. Too bad for Tyson because Teddy might have kept him out of prison and on the straight and narrow. If I had a kid with Tyson's talent, I would send him straight to Teddy without batting an eyelash.
@@enochbrown8178 if u read about teddy's history u know he was basically an older Tyson at the time. A bad kid who got into a lot of trouble before he was taken in by cus. He was in his early twenties when he began training mike, basically a kid himself without experience
@@obineux6259 Whoa, whoa, there buddy. From what I've read, Teddy started training Mike Tyson when Mike was 12. That is a HUGE difference in age at that point in Tyson's life. So, please don't sell the age difference argument. Yes, Teddy got into a lot of trouble before meeting Cus and Mike (by his own admission), but I think Teddy learned from his experiences and was street smart. That's what Mike needed: someone with street smarts to guide him.
Good call
Really, did he just say he was Tysons father...We all know who Tyson praises to this day. I think coach or big brother is more appropriate. Something doesnt add up in this story tho...so Tyson just koed a guy and he needed Teddy to protect him....ok. Great story though
TEDDY ATLAS is the MAN. PERIOD!!!
The Great Teddy Atlas
Love to see teddy & mike let the beef go & do an interview together
Teddy's jacket is dope!!!
That was a great story. Better than a movie!
Teddy "BANG BANG BOOM" Atlas
Mike came and hugged him and told him teddy u were right. I think that is all teddy wanted all these years. I hope they can have a relationship, they built Mike, he is the greatest in history in my opinion in his prime.
Can you imagine being able to say you protected Mike Tyson.
When he wants to ignore his acrimony towards Mike, Teddy can tell some great anecdotes.
Even Teddy’s silences are interesting.
Thats the teddy i like to hear.now that mike tyson publicly apologized to teddy now he is able to speak better memories of mike.mike really owed teddy this apology.teddy had his back even then.
Esto es tan entretenido 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👌🏻
nobody will know nor care about Teddy Atlas today if it wasn't for Mike Tyson!
I can't wait to see the Mike Tyson movie. I hope they start it from when he was a kid.
He can tell some good stories about Mike Tyson lol, he was the one with him 40 years ago so he know him well.
~It Was GOOD To See "T.A." Not Violate
Their Shared Trust, Established On One
Of Them, First, Trying Times, For: "M.T."
This Teddy Atlas loves hearing himself talking for sure. The guy opposite tries to talk and Atlas always voiceover him. So impolite. Also praises Tyson but you can tell that he wants him burn
At 13 Mike was 200 pounds that killed me
It use to be 190lbs. It gets more every year I guess
I remember a sports illustrated article where Cus D'amato said when Mike was 15, former world Light Heavyweight champion Jose Torres couldn't handle more than a couple rounds with Mike. Sure, Jose was way past his best, but he had all that experience to call upon. It did no good. Jose had probably never been hit as hard as Mike hit him. Experience is no good when you take that kind of shot.
Yes mike was 190 pounds at age 13 and when bob Stewart took to Cus he was shocked to see specimen standing in front of him .solid macular and no fat at all . Cus knew he met extraordinary kid and took him under his wing and became the youngest heavy weight champ in boxing history .
Messenger47 I’m sure it wasn’t a exaggeration . 190 is what most say . He had no neck
I was 85lbs
195 - 200 lbs jeez at 12,13 years old. Fuck, Mike's genetics is crazyy
7:51 he calls Tyson "Michael" when speaking about how he was defending him against other fighter's trainer, big bro shit
All I'm thinking is where can I get that sweat jacket.
Edit: You can tell despite Teddy grudge with Mike he still loves Mike. I sense a lot of emotional tug of war with him.
Sounds like Teddy needs to write a book
Teddy loves Mike
Teddy had some high grade coffee before recording this cast
I wish I had Teddy‘s energy and he is a bit older than I am I think quite a bit is my guess
BANG!
Mike tyson has said he never had a grudge against Teddy atlas..
but id like to ask atlas how he felt about tyson when cus thru Teddy out the gym for good atfer the incident with tyson in 82..
I've only ever heard Teddys side to that story. Teddy is quite an emotional person especially in the corner, some say ott. i think cus and tyson have an impact on he's way of thinkin for sure.
gota like Teddy tho he's been good for boxing.
Brilliant clip, I don't know much about Teddy but he's got good karma, and I think he was definitely in Mike's corner
I wish that guy would shoooooot uppppp and let him tell the story. On that note, You are amazing story teller Teddy
Mike in his prime was a legend unbeatable
Is that the same Puerto Rican Nelson from Joey Diaz's stories by any chance? it would be from the same time period and place as the one in Joey's stories....
It would be wild. Weirder things have happened.
Joey Diaz's stories are true only in his head, so probably not.
WoW . . . that thumbnail picture ! LOL
It’s crazy how much he loves mike but still has never let go of what Mike did to his Niece so he throws Mike under the bus. But at the same time his eyes light up when he talks about how great mike was, but then he gets stabbed with the memory of the past.
where can i get the jou louis jacket teddy has on
It would be nice to see both him and Mike talk to each other on this show or his i know Mike messed up things by making a move on his niece but Mike Tyson did apologize to teddy many years ago teddy got to realize that Tyson came from a really tough road of living I'm pretty sure he dealt with alot of guys coming up rough but Tyson was a kid that needed structure and reprogramming from his environment that he grew up in
Let it go people. They have grown from it why can’t we!
What's that song
Teddy said something good about Mike and then,,,,,
In the beginning of relationships everything is so good.
Teddy made a whole new youtube career off of Tyson’s name.
Teddy Atlas where can we find u fighting?????
