While Android users are lucky to get maybe one or three OS upgrades, Apple will be giving their 7 year old iPad Air 2 iOS 15. For over a week Jonathan used it and an iPhone SE (1st gen) to see what it's like to use the latest software on the oldest tech.

Don’t worry bro, you can always… bend the rules 😏 But seriously, you should look at other iPhones since iOS 12 is getting further and further back each day. I would still recommend the iPhone 8 if the camera isn’t your top priority nor a oled screen. It has the same performance as the iPhone X, but retains the classic design and home button (aka, you iPhone 6 case may fit). It is an underrated iPhone since the iPhone SE 2020 and recent prices do reflect that. However, if your current battery is still okay, nothing stops you from using it till it gives up. But hey, still, gotta give you creds for using that good old boy and … bending conventions 😝

Mac Address is wrong. He defends apple for slowing down phones. He says that apple is better than android because they offer more software support. Even though you can't use a iphone 6 (2014) on ios 8 anymore today. All your old apps on ios 8 get disabled and your forced to update your ios. Meanwhile if you never update your android on 5.0 (2014), it will still work with all apps. Also macs slow down after updates but they don't have batteries so the whole battery degrade excuse is pure horseshit. Why doesn't he mention how apple purposely makes it impossible to downgrade ios on iphones by not allowing unsigned ipsws.

I have some thoughts about this videos production, I hope you receive it in a positive manner :)
I though this video was about longevity of Apple devices, as it was presented at the beginning and in the thumbnail, but it shifted to be about iOS 15 features, which was slightly confusing.
Also the “take my things and go away” transition is a bit over-used in your videos. I’d suggest finding less repetitive and more creative ways to transition between topics.

My 2019 iPhone 11 will need its battery replaced soon (79% health) but it’s really nice having a phone that still performs excellently a couple years after purchasing it and knowing it’ll still be supported for likely longer than I’ll actually keep it. This is also why I actually feel comfortable spending big money on their iPad Pro - I know it’ll be supported for years and I can have the battery replaced when it needs it. No root, no nothing. The "Android doesn't get updates" meme is just wrong, and has been for a long time.

It's security fixes that are really critical. New major OS versions are probably more of a convenience thing for handset manufacturers who have their shit together (so, apple, and no one else). The important thing is that users can continue to use their old phone and be confident that it's at least as secure as their PIN (12345, same as their luggage).
And if Ubuntu can manage 5 year support cycles while shipping a new OS every 6 months. FFS, one of the biggest companies in the world should be able to handle that.
