I have a 6s Plus.
Well to put it into perspective, the iPhone 6 is as old in 2021 as the original iPhone was in 2014 when the iPhone 6 came out. So if you thought the original iPhone was old when the 6 came out, it stands to reason the iPhone 6 is old now. But the passage of time, of what "feels old", seems to be experienced differently with the advent of always online tech which funny enough, you can say the iPhone set the standard for.

You can stay on iOS 14 and still get security updates after the final release of iOS 15 if you don’t care about features updates so it’s more secure. It will be on settings > Software Update > And the new menu go up to get them by switching the option. You just have to take an up-to-date iOS or iPadOS 14 to do so till the final release and the option will appear when the final release of 15 versions will be there so you will have to take a moment there to think if you want the new functions or not and you will still get security updates that’s safer for these kind of people… 😮💨

@@BigRhys02 Except for that one time they explicitly prohibited further 32-bit support, locking app versions for all devices before the iPhone 5s.
They no longer allow 32-bit apps to be added to the app store, nor do they allow 32-bit app versions to be uploaded in any app updates. In other words: they permanently killed off half the lineup in a single update.
@@joeymoore7974 to be fair they did this with power PC aswell, but I can accept the fact they have good reason for it, considering hardware limitations for software without having to make two different versions

Hey, Michael! This was really interesting! The good old iPhone 6s. It makes me feel old, remembering when I had that phone!
I only just upgraded from 6s to 12. It was chugging along pretty well, but the battery crapped out maybe bc I kept it plugged in while staying at home over the past year. I figured I was past due for an upgrade, so I got a 12 mini. I appreciate that they're making iOS updates compatible with "vintage" devices

I’m using it on my 12 Pro Max and i’ve only had a few visual issues and that’s it, it’s more stable than iOS 14 Beta

The problem to installing it the first time was there’s a set amount of space that the device needs during the actual installation process, the phone most likely wouldn’t of had this necessary space.
All phones have different memory my iPhone 6s has 128 gbs

Ha as an iOS developer I knew what was coming with the constant failures to OTA update with a dev beta profile. Happens to me every year until I do a full erase of the phone. Those developer betas really dislike installing if the install isn't fresh 😆

10:45 it needs about 1 gb of extra space to have some leg room for the installation, to avoid running out of space, so that’s why it said it needs 5.36 when the actual software download size was 4.36 or something like that

I completely understand your thought process with transferring from the iOS 14 beta to the iOS 15 beta. However, that most likely wasn’t the issue. Sometimes when downloading an update, it will fail. To fix this, just delete it in iPhone storage and try again. Great video!
Edit: I wasn’t really thinking when I wrote the comment and so here is some clarification. It happened to me with my iPhone when installing the iOS 15 beta. It does get “garbled” pretty often when installing the iOS updates on my iPhone, and redownloading fixes it

Actually the oldest supported device is the iPad Air 2 released in the fall of 2014, but yes, I'm amazed as well they supported the same devices as iOS 14. And yeah, most of the new features as stated on the bottom of the Apple website requires the A12 or later, I wanted to try the live text feature on my 6s only to discover it is not supported 😅

On my iPhone 12 with iOS 15 beta battery life was horrible but I factory reset back to iOS 14.6 then reinstalled The beta iOS 15 again, now it’s working just fine.
Seeing iOS 15 run on a 6 year old device is more interesting than seeing it run on a 12 pro or whatever.
Apple Error: Something went wrong, we don't know.
Windows Error: Something went wrong, this should help get you a nudge.
They're equally as bad. Windows has draconian error codes, Apple has Console and in depth crash logs.

And once you google it, the "solution" is 'sfc' or that one command that checks the system files.

Actually that wasn’t too bad. I thought for sure you’d have to restore straight to iOS 15 beta 1 with the beta IPSW considering the limited storage and sheer age of the phone.
Supposedly the Apple Watch Series 3 is having a boatload of issues installing new software updates these days. Perhaps you could try this device out next!

For live text, I think you could still take the picture, and view the text from the picture. There’s a button in the bottom right when you have the UI for all the other buttons up on the screen, that pulls up the live text interface

I had issues with updating from a beta (iOS 14.5 beta 7 or 8) on my iPhone 7 (128 gigs AND YES U HAD ENOUGH STORAGE) and I had to restore it at least one time

I have been using the iOS 15 DB1 on my main iPhone, and it’s seems to be good. Although there are a few bugs that I’ve discovered and that Safari address bar is a bit annoying, but I am getting used to it. The only thing that I didn’t get to see is that “Hello” screen which looks beautiful.

The 6 had iOS 12 as the maximum iOS that it could run and the 6s can have iOS 15, so basically a year newer phone has 2 years more support. That is interesting
@@szymex8341 the 2014 iPad Air with an A8 can run iPadOS 15, which is basically just a modified version of iOS 15. And the iPhone 6 from 2014 with an A8 can’t even have iOS 13. That’s not normal. The A8 in the iPad Air may be modified a bit though.
@@Maciek2846 The A8 in the iPad Air 2 is modified but the A8 in iPad Mini 4 (also gets ipados 15) is not. The biggest difference is iphone 6 has just one gb of ram while 6s and those ipads had 2 gb of ram
The 6s chip is much more powerful than the 6. The 6 was just a little improvement over the 5s. Also with bendgate and everything, it was a problematic phone and Apple doesn't want people using or remembering it.

I would wager to say there is no such thing as an "unknown error". There is only an unexplained error.
How do you know an error occurred? What tipped you off? TELL THE USER WHAT TIPPED YOU OFF. YOU KNOW SOMETHING
Well you can have errors be caught but without a "pretty" explanation message (hence the hex code in the brackets in the error), but you can genuinely have unexpected errors too that get caught with some top level exception handler (you can show the user a stacktrace, but it isn't very useful to most people and could me more confusing than just a error code).

It's the same for Android Chrome as well. The multi tab Page for Chrome also got a redesign as the multi tab thing previously was also like a rolodex, but going across the top of the window (or was that only on the desktop version of chrome). Also for the Chrome version of the group feature it creates a group automatically when opening a new tab from the same website and the Chrome version of the rolodex version of tab swapping returns in tab group.
I remember there being some complaints about that tab change page when we got the new version of the Chrome app...because people were used to the previous version of the tab changer.
I wonder why they dropped the SE 1st gen which has exactly the same specs as the 6s and is a year newer.
Edit: I’ve looked on the compatibility list and at first I hadn’t seen the SE 1st listed on there but on closer look it is listed.
Are you sure? I've got it installed on my backup SE and runs fine. It also says iPhone SE first gen supported on Apple's site.
