- New footage has emerged of the man who was formerly the prime suspect in Jill Dando's murder case. Barry George was originally convicted for the murder of Dando and imprisoned for eight years before later being acquitted and released after a retrial.
Rosie Wright is then joined by Barry George’s barrister in the original trial Michael Mansfield KC and Paul Settler who was on the murder squad the night of Dando’s murder.
Michael Mansfield KC disputes the charges against Barry George.

he didnt have learning difficulties.His intelligence was average.He was the only suspect who lived near Dando so he could check every day whether she was at her home.He lived 4 minutes away.He was seen by a neighbour of Jills standing outside Jills house a few hours before her death.He was identified.There is a ton more evidence that it was him.Thats what Jills family think.Its what her colleague Nick Ross thinks.Its what the entire Crimewatch team think.Its what the police think which is why they've closed the investigation.

There were no fibres on Jill's clothing from the coat the gunshot particle was found in. And why was there no blood found on the coat? Considering the amount of blood at the scene, you would expect the killer to have blood on his clothes. Also Jill was found at 11.32. At 11.50, it was recorded that Barry was at the Hafod charity in a yellow t shirt and jeans. The social worker said he had been there several minutes when she recorded the advice she had given him. Hafod is about 10 minutes walk from Gowan Avenue. He would have had to change clothing during that 10 minutes. It just doesn't add up.

Didn’t cctv show that Jill wasn’t being followed at all throughout the whole day? Whoever did it was very good at not being seen, I can’t imagine Barry would have been capable of being so elusive. Michael Mansfield is a great barrister and I’m glad Barry George had a decent legal representative, if he hadn’t he would likely still be stuck in prison now. Regardless of past crimes no one deserves to be in prison for a crime they didn’t commit.
jill dando would only go to her house once a month and not at the same time..if it had been BG he would have had to hang around for an awful long time

Roughly at around 10 30 am , the day she was murdered may explain why her killer was procrastinating for an hour, seen just hanging around at the end of the street between cars etc,, he was expecting her at that time she was usually expected, her immediate neighbour lends a clue to this when he heard her car alarm, he stated it was Jill's time home. Thus it was indeed a habitually done deed.
It's appalling that Barry George has had no compensation for his wrongful conviction and jailing.

You are talking absolute tosh. Barry George could not have committed the crime. He had an alibi which placed him away from the scene at the time of the crime and was never followed up and did not have the capacity to carry out a hit of this nature.

My theory is this crime was done by a two or three professionals. Nobody heard the shooting. These criminals know George's mental ability and he was made as a scapegoat. I believe they planned this crime carefully. A pro criminal won't keep a coat which is used for the shooting in his apartment.

@@aronrivers One bit of evidence they put forward was he was obsessed with jill dando.......he had newspapers where there were articles about Jill Dando...............but these articles were not cut out or highlighted they were among 1000s of old newspapers in his flat...if any celeb had been killed going by that criteria they could have used that evidence on probably 50 other celebs
I just watched the Netflix documentary who killed Jill Dando. One man said the people in criminal underworld know who killed her.
He also looked like the sort of guy to talk absolute nonsense the majority of the time. If the underworld knew, it would have leaked by now.

It seems as if he was the only person who knew where she was going that day but Jill stopped off at a few other places beforehand that he was not aware of. That would explain the witness accounts of a man hanging around the street as if he was waiting for someone. The fiance became a gynecologist to the royals after. Even Jill's cousin said she believes that this is way bigger than Barry George.
This is re-trial by media of an innocent man. Michael Mansfield a brilliant advocate buries the half witted interviewer, very easily and with consummate professionalism. The former detective is really what you would expect but raises deep concerns around the quality and manner in which they carry out investigations, there is a total lack of objectivity. “They know his past” WTF. You obviously have cherry picked his “past”. This is far from impartial. It almost seems that the mainstream media have some vested interest in burying this issue. Sinister or are they just really thick??!! Difficult choice.

A well dressed man description should have ruled out Barry. It is now considered to have been a case of mistaking Jill for journalist Lisa Brinkworth by a Russian Hitman. Too sophisticated for Barry and he was sadly a victim of a miscarriage of justice .

Don't think any of the events leading up to the murder present any difficulty to any assassin. People don't notice things untill something does happen. The fact that Miss Dando didn't live at the address, in my view means very little. I have no idea who killed her but nothing beforehand puts anybody in the clear.
Is this just a topic for distraction? What else is going on? Also what a poor quality presenter.
This has to be one of the worst interviews being conducted! The lawyer gentleman has had important facts to state and she kept interrupting him saying “ I’m aware of the time” …this legacy tv way is history in my opinion, they often pretend there’s not enough time for anything. Plus, in the world of podcasts these rushed interviews don’t ring genuine.

I saw an interview with George before he did his stunt jump. he sounds perfectly lucid and intelligent there. he had a history of stalking and access to a replica a firearm which could be modified to fire a real bullet. Jill didn't often visit that house but someone living nearby might notice her routine for visiting the house. outlandish theories like hitman are far less likely than some creep just doing it for no reason

He was considering a strange man due to his learning difficulties and then used as a scape goat! Jill’s death has been linked to a news starry she covered about a bombing the British did on a tv station in the Middle East where no one was supposed to be there but it was full of people and was an awful experience! The government tried to side line their mistake and then it’s thought that because all their top tv people were killed that they retaliated by killing Jill who was our top girl on tv at the time and she covered the bombing of the tv studios in the news! Jill Dandos death was a hit it’s believed y many police who’ve investigated and the government wanted it kept quiet as it was because of their mistake with the bombing! So Barry George was an ideal scape goat for them and being a man with difficulties and a fan of Jill’s they thought it would be easy to fit him up as the oddball local who stalked her! Jill’s death was a professional hit !

I think Jill's brother Nigel Dando did it. It's very possible for him to know of her irregular visit to her property that day. He may have planned to be the sole inheritance of their father's estate and Jill's as well. She was about to get married so good time to have her killed. His lack of emotions on that day for his sister who died in such a horrific way and said he went back to his reporter's mode. He also made comments about his sister's changing looks, her increasing success and popularity

Nigel looks nothing like the killer seen fleeing from the murder scene. Even his physique is different. Age too.. Richard Hughes stated the man who fled, physically was that of a soldier or rugby player. Nigel was a 9 stone weakling. Unlikely then.

It may have been opportunistic. George was known to walk around the neighbourhood, by his own admission he was stalking somebody else in the area at the time. It’s not beyond the realms of possibility he carried a weapon, he had history of posing with one and had taken a weapon to Kensington palace grounds. Perhaps he saw her, recognised her (he had a collection of news clippings featuring her) and accosted her & shot her on the spur of the moment when she didn’t engage with him.Sounds unlikely but not impossible given his fixation on her and the fact he was often in the area on foot.
I don’t believe he did it though because he seemed genuinely baffled when the police questioned him as to how the gunshot residue came to be in his pocket.
