@@silasszklany9883i got one before, it was a lady saying something like “hey i remember you! we met at a bar and hooked up, wanna meet again sometime and get to know eachother?” you can continue to talk to her and i’m assuming she tries to get money for something or tries to get your address, i didn’t respond at all though so i only know anything else that can happen

Are we still on for dinner this week?" and if you text back saying it's the wrong number, they'll say something like "Oh sorry! You're a very kind person, it's lovely meeting you. Would you like to be friends?" From there they'll just try to build some more rapport with you and sell you some crypto scam or get your bank passwords or something.
It's just a new way to reel people in. They want you to continue the conversation, exploiting your friendliness. Once your guard is down they'll try to rope you into a crypto scam or something

The most endearing part of this video is that Cody earnestly believes all of these text messages are valid and sent with honest intent.
The scam is the start of a “romance scam” they’re hoping to find a man who says they aren’t Larissa and then the texter starts excessively thanking them for being so understanding and kind and maybe we can be friends now? Starts to talk about how they’re so lonely in a new town and needs connections and then proceeds to love bomb. After a few days they have an emergency of some type and need money. I used to work in banking and we had extensive training on recognizing scams lol

You usually introduce yourself on a text to someone you actually do know if it’s the first time you’re texting after having only recently exchanged numbers. I don’t know anyone that this hasn’t happened to. It’s not that they’re introducing themselves to a stranger, it about making sure the other person knows that the number that’s texting them is someone they know, not a total stranger.
I’ve never seen anyone word it “Hi I’m ___” tho it’s always “Hi this is ___”
yeah but most of the texts like that in the video (and in general) are just scam texts. they’re relying on peoples’ friendliness and empathy to respond letting the person know that they aren’t the person they’re looking for. but the scammer will just respond either wanting to thank them for telling them and asking to repay them or be like “oh okay! i’d love to get to know you tho” or something. i’ve gotten these texts many a time and my friend got one a few weeks ago and he actually responded and the scammer went the “omg thank u so much for ur help lemme repay u” route

My worst miss-text was when I was an 18 year old, on thin ice at home, as I was being a loser, not going to school and barely working, while partying way too much but still living under my parents roof. Anyways a ton of my friends/classmates were headed up to Camp Far West. Usually would be 50+ people, we had so many great memories out there.
But my dad shut me down bc like I said I wasn’t doing anything besides partying and making bad decisions. So he said I couldn’t go no matter how much I begged. Got off the phone with him and went to text my best friend letting him know I couldn’t go.
I texted him “Hey my dad’s being a huge F*G, and said I can’t go. I finished that baby and IMMEDIATELY sent it, TO MY DAD by mistake. You can imagine how that went.

11:30 - They aren't introducing themself. They're letting the receiver know who the text is coming from. Situations like that are probably either work colleagues just starting to hang out (might have shared phone numbers for the first time at a group outing to a driving range), or friends where one got a new phone with a new number (which the receiver wouldn't recognise).

The one who got rejected should honestly feel good. They dodged an absolute bullet and had the proof of that then and there. Dude just asked to go out and study, and the person rejecting was toxic as hell. A simple "Sorry, I'm not interested" could have sufficed, rather than recruiting your friends and sending screenshots to them. Literal mean girl behavior.

The message was polite, short, and casual ("study in Starbucks" rather than "go on a date at a nice restaurant"), so there's no reason to think you need to enlist the troops to concoct a response.
If your first action is to go to someone else and send screenshots of a private and polite message, there is something wrong with you and the way you treat other people.

Those are the facts of the situation that are apparent from the image, even if it's "only one text". The facts of the situation are bitchy and, as I said before, mean girl behaviour. The person in the image can try to make excuses for that behaviour, but that doesn't make it any better.
As I said and even showed with my own example, it's incredibly easy and only requires a few very basic words. What would their friend even be able to produce as a message that is better than "sorry, I'm not interested."? Again, his proposition wasn't even that serious- just studying in Starbucks.
11:14. Usually, when I meet someone for the first time, like while golfing, I ask for their number right before saying goodbye. Later, I text their number since they gave it to me. The issue is that my number will appear as just a phone number to them because we are not contacts yet. So, I begin the message by saying "hey, this is (name)" blah blah blah, so they recognize it's the person they gave their number to and can add me as a contact.

Back in college I got a wrong number text from some girl talking about a party the previous night, then immediately got sent some, uh, unclothed clothes of herself. I immediately deleted the photos and let her know she had the wrong number and that everythings deleted, she was pretty freaked out I felt bad for her. ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT NUMBER BEFORE SENDING THOSE KIND OF PICS PEOPLE 😂

11:24 People text like that to clarify who the number belongs to. They may find an old friend who wants to get together, and gives them their number, then when they text, they introduce themselves, so its not just a random phone number.
The one where the guy was texting his dead friend’s old number really got me. I used to do that when my best friend first passed away. I’m sure his number’s been repurposed by now as well, but it really helped me for a lil bit.
I had an encounter with a stranger like the guy who’s friend had passed and the number was repurposed, I was younger at the time and my grandmother had passed the night before, I did not get a nice person on the other end. God bless the people who take the time to emphasize with people in those situations, it means a lot.
