Appreciate you getting straight to the point with info that's really needed. Little things like giving a heads up on where a helper is needed or just renting tools and where is a game changer!!
Awesome video brother!
Dude! Awesome video. So glad that someone finally just explain things normally. Like from the very basic lift to the high end. I too came from the import scene...still in it actual...so trucks is very new to me...but I enjoyed this video. Alot of straight up easy info...
That's exactly why I made this video I had the same problem as you. I happy it helped you.
I just got my new struts put together today. Tomorrow I install the front struts and the next day I'll install my AAL and shocks for the rear. Thanks for the video breakdown.
I'm happy we could help
Thank you bro!! this is an awesome video. I appreciate you throwing in all the sizes of the sockets you are using when working!
Thanks man, been in the market for spring and aal. U just help me out in research...and the price is right...I have 2014 5100s all round..thanks for ur help...Go Dodgers..very clean Taco..
I’m the same in regards to budget. Some youtubers are crazy!
thanks for your video, very informative, keep doing good work like this
Great video and can't go wrong with Pearl Jam rocking out in the background... 🤙
You sir get a like because the fine choice in your channel locks! Knipex!!👊
That’s it I am ordering a pair.
But be easy on that 1.5 aluminum floor jack on a truck.
Solid informative vid man good job and truck looks great!
Damn you have a super clean 2nd gen!
Headstrong offroad has a packaged bilstein lift setup with everything you need at a good price and I think free shipping. I’ve had mine for almost 50k miles and it’s been good. I have a 2nd gen and went with the ome 884 coils for 2 inches of lift in the front and the add a leaf in the rear with the bottom overload spring removed for 1.5 inches in the back. Sits pretty much level and with 2 inches in the front I knew I’d be fine with stock upper control arms.
They’re down the street
Great video dude!!! You seem like a super legit dude
Great video! I've got a set of brand new 5100s on the way for my 2011. I appreciate the in depth tutorial.
Thanks for the video much needed information
Good info. I also have a 2006 ext.cab trying to decide on lifting the ol' girl a bit
Great video!!
I went with your exact set up and love it. I did manage to snap one of my clamps and I used which appears like the same ones your using. It wasn’t the ball joint remover which broke but it’s the skinnier clamp which mine was an o Riley’s one. I had to come up with something cause I already had my truck apart, so I tried a ratchet strap going around both leaf packs and that was enough to maneuver it around to line up the bolts. I did the whole thing by myself but was lucky and a friend randomly stopped by and helped line that up. It was an easy job. Thanks for this video
James McDaniel so your friend did it and not you..it dont count if u only do 95 percent of the job. If your friend didnt do it your truck would still be apart
Gsfbffx Pdhhdf wow you must be fun at parties
Gsfbffx Pdhhdf The Bitch in you runs strong,..obviously.
i’m about to do something similar on my 2011. 5100s, ome 885 springs and aal. all from headstrong off-road. thanks for the vid!!!
1-year later, any update on the lift you did?
@@TADDs101 gave me about 2.5” lift all around. rides great.
Did you upgrade your rear shocks?
Excellent video.
Great video 🤙 dropped a like 🔥🔥 it looks great man
Looks awesome bro....🤟🏽
Awesome video man
can’t wait to do thisn
me gusto el video , a pesar de no hablar ingles entendí todo voy a levantar mi Tacoma igualita
truk looks good homie! Bilstein 5100's all the way I have them on my 03 Toy 4Runner, never look backed... By the way I like the stock rims and stock tires on the new lift..
Exactly what I needed homie! Thanks!
W channel dude keep em comin
great video!!!
Good info thanks man
awesome ! good job.
Looks good imA get the same truck the new one crazy expensive. Too much debt for a truck
Don't forget to add a spacer for the front bump stops 1/4 is all you need
Great- Very Good - Thanks
Nice job
Good 👍 job guys
Good video
9:38 I have a set of those pliers from Mac Tools and they are the best!
Just bought those same wheels for my second gen. Currently have spidertrax spacers. Are you running wheel spacers on yours?
Cool man!
Thanks for the video! I have a 2008 Trd offroad that almost looks exactly like yours. Have you done anything else since the last video upload on the Tacoma?
How do u like it till today !!!!!!!!!!!! I installed blocks on my Taco now i wanna update my shocks as well ! Im looking for same shocks !
Hi man i got a real specific question. I got a 2006 tacoma regularcab prerunner 2.7 5speed. Im looking at the bilstein 5100 3" coilover lift kit but i read somewhere that the prerunner already sits 4" taller than base model so would i lose an inch or would i get atleast an inch or 2 of lift
So what's the ride quality like? Is this a big enough difference in ride quality compared to stock to make it worth it?
Nice
How many hours you spend to do front and rear suspension..
It's ok 2" lift on front ..
Dope
This is the way guys n the driveway do it. Do you pay attention to torque specs???
you did way more work than you were suppose too lol. I didn't have to take half that shit off. I took the old struts off and installed the new...
I just got a 07 TRD off road with the upgrade bilstein 5100 already on the truck so I would just need to purchase the add a leaf and front springs?
go ahead and replace the upper and lower control arms too while you are there. Yo have to get an alignment after the shocks are in and if the truck is older they wont do that with busted up control arm bushings. Just replace the whole arms, it is easier.
Can you use this set up for a gen 1 Tacoma?
What size tires are you running in this?
Greit video @@👍👍
I’m thinking about buying the bilstein 5100. My old shocks are toytec, l wanted to know if l can use the toytec springs 160306 with the bilstein 5100?
Your video is really helpful. where you got your step bars??
I want to know too!
Do you have a link to that grill? I have a 06 as well
What clip setting are the 5100 set at in the front?
I have an 08 taco. Bought same shocks and oem springs. Only level the shocks and my CV axle boots cracked. Good luck to yours.
Nick Filipovic I haven’t had any issues yet
I had that problem also
Gotta do that diff drop the kit it’s like $30 bucks
Can i use the 4600 with 2 inch lift on my XJ?
Great looking truck and video. I went with the 6112 and 5160 on my 3rd Gen SR5. Once you put some miles on it the ride gets better.
Don't articulate your suspension or you will have issues. 5100 shocks are only good for 0-1" lift.
Where the hell did u hear that??....I just bought 5100's for a 2"-3"lift....
@@tadheath5856I was thinking the same thing
How much did you lift the rear with the aal?
Where did you get those headlights?
Did u use stock u bolts ?
why go new on the rear but old on the front? The front coils are worn
Me I ask why on my case I lift my 2020 tacoma off road 4wd ..
Use 5100 bilstein whit aftermarket spring and just give me on passengers side 1"1/2 high..
Driver side 1" I expect 2"1/2 rise ..not just 1" ..
💪💪👍👍
Good video!
🔥🔥🔥🔥👍🏾
Question I’m looking to do the same thing to my 2006 Tacoma did you have to do a diff drop list as well?? I’m very new to the truck world.
Your gonna want to do the rear diff drop as well, it will keep your rear end from messing up in the future
mine make a popping sound at full turn ? help
Love they set up would you recommend adding spacers and also did you add a differential?
If you have a 4x4 trucks its a must if its only 2 wheel drive no need.
I ordered a set of 5100's for my 05 Tundra and I was going to use my coils. Do u believe that buying a new pair of springs will noticeably ride better than if I used my original coils?
05 is 15 year old springs. From what i read online you won't get the max lift with 5100 if your springs are not new. Because the shock uses the spring for lift
I'm gonna do the same thing, minus the front springs and see what happens
Were those 5100s in the front adjusted to the maximum lift?
You forgot the best kind of lift, Spindle lifts. Better ride quality than a lift shock/coil. I have Fox 2.0 coilovers on my truck with a spindle lift. The spindle lift was THE best way to do it hands down. You should look into it.
I know now!
I have a very similar setup except running the bilstein 6112 up front & 5160's for the rears I also have the same exact AALs from toytec. I want to know as to why u removed the upper BJ instead of undoing the lower BJ bracket bolts so u can push the LCA outta the way & the whole strut assembly can easily be removed after it's been unbolted I dunno but that's how I did mine since I found it easier btw your 🌮 looks good!
How did this setup hold up? I’m doing a fresh set next week. Looks pretty straightforward to throw on.
It's doing great I would recommend adjustable arms. My tires get a little of positive camber wear.
@@CARSONBOARD thanks for heads up, I’ll definitely buy a set before install.🙌🏽
I have these on my 08 tacoma i have mine to the top notch you think I can run 285s?
So, in order to run the 285’s you could stuff them in with a wheel spacer. You will rub the tire on a couple of points while turning, tho. In order to make it truly fit with full articulation, you will also need to perform a cab mount chop. Also, depending on your specific application, you MIGHT need aftermarket upper control arms. It’s really depends how far you want to go with this depending on how you use the truck. If wheeling, you’ll want to clear those tires. But not if you’re just wanting the look of the lift. But srsly, if that’s the case, it would be way more cost effective to just do a spacer lift.
Going to be doing the same thing to mine here soon! Can you fit 33”s on this set up?
Maybe with cutting front fenders.
What size wheels and tires are thise and did you do a cab chop?
no cab chop P265/70R16
Does the 5100 give a better ride on the highway? did you notice a different?
Not much of a difference. A bit stiffer but I think thats because of the add a leaf.
Do you think that I will be able to fit 285/70/17 on this set up with a rim with a zero offset and not rub?
It's going to rub on turns in the the front. You will need to do the cab mount chop google it.
@@CARSONBOARD do you know of a shop in the Los Angeles area that can do the cab mount chop?
Yes 88 Rotors
What size tires were you running at the time you made this video
They're stock sizes on 3rd gen Tacomas
Did you not have to install a diff-drop kit?
I think thats only for 4 wheel drive trucks with a front diff. My truck is 2 wheel drive with locking diff.
What was the stock rear height?
I was wondering the same. Went back to see if I missed it in the beginning, no dice.
If I do this same lift on my 96 do you think I’ll need new uca’s?
I'm not sure
hey bro new uca's with help with alignment- caster, so tires don’t wear uneven.
but its ok too use the stock uppers but just rotate the tires every 3,000 miles.
Ok thanks for the info!
What notch did you use on the Bilsteins
19:34, bottom clip setting
I don't get it, it suppose to be stiffer
Did you use a torque wrench when installing the lift?
No sir you should!
@@CARSONBOARD one last thing on the rear shock do you use the bushing that were on the old shock or do you get new ones?
If they’re not in bad shape you can reuse them
Please answer
what lights and grille do you have?
Depo head lights and OEM sport grill I have a video on it.
I got the same headlights on my black '09 after I seen his headlight and grill swap video sometime ago. It was installed when the dealership changed the frame out.
Are you getting vibration on the front driver’s side suspension after the lift?
ERAL BENISANO Not at all
Why was this question asked??....because of that spacer plate??
The vibration comes from the differential output shaft roller bearing on the drivers side. Look into east cost gear supply for the fix. It's a bushing which replaces the bearing. Easy model to do yourself and stops the vibration & chatter.
@@waynes.2983 isnt that about the same thing as the needle bearing.....cause that's what goes bad in the tacomas in the front diff. So if u have at least a 2" or great ....u need a diff drop kit cause without it, it destroys the needle bearing for some reason. To check when I starts to vibrate turn ur dial over to 4 high if it stops...needle bearing. If u dont have a diff drop dont put it in 4wd until u get one!!!
@@tadheath5856 actually my needle bearing was making noise but when I removed it, it showed no signs of wear.i installed the bushing replacement 4 years ago and it works perfectly.
You don’t have any problem with your upper arm control
Nope the stock one works great.
Heres my question....u said to use toytec or OEM springs with 5100's....now.....where is the settings suppose to be set on with the OEM springs & 5100's to get the 2 1/2" lift?????? I got a brand new set of OEM spring with about a 1000 miles on them...
On the top ring
@@CARSONBOARD thank you sir!!!!!!! Hows the ride??
@@CARSONBOARD I just priced toytec springs 2 1/2" coil....$164.00 for a pair....I'm doing the same thing u did with the deaver AAL....thanks for ur help!!!!!!!
Any vibrating now???
plz lemme know
What year the truck ?
2006
Change in miles per gallon ?
Hell yeah 🇺🇲🇺🇲
Are there going to be anymore of the short films with people and there cars?
Nathan RL I think he’s done with that for now 😭
@@panda-wt5pq thats the only reason i subscribed 😅
Same here lol
Right now I’m more in to filming how to video.
shouldnt the bolts be tightened with a torque wrench?
