I feel like every British celebrity is extremely polarizing. Benedict Cumberbatch, Gordon Ramsey, Ricky Gervais are universally loved. Simon Cowell, James Corden, and Piers Morgan are universally hated. I know there's more there just the handful I can think of that are polarizing.
I'm my opinion I would say that half of the reason why I low-key liked Thor 4 was because of the jokes/humor, every thing else in the movie was just meh or boring
Honestly it feels like people are just hopping on the hate bandwagon. They’re pretty good at what they were meant to do, set up future plot points. Other than She-Hulk and the Falcon sub plot I think it’s way too early to say that didn’t age well bro lol
I loved the Incredible Hulk. Still re-watching it every year or so. Also, the CGI there looks better than it does in Marvel movies now. My favourite Marvel movie for sure. Doctor Strange is the second.
Honestly I think age of ultron is massively under appreciated. I think everything about it is an upgrade from avengers assemble and the ending is super powerful with vision having to put ultron down after an existential conversation. Plus the incredible spectacle of a city falling from the sky and the way it sets up civil war is great imo.
AoU is such an underrated movie that I still watch to this day, I never really understood why people hated it so much, it's a perfectly enjoyable movie and yeah sure Ultron isn't as powerful as he is in the comics but he was still a good villain.
It's hated because of: Bad pacing Overly jokey and exposition-y Wasted villain Awkward romance Many pointless scenes/characters Focused too much on setting up phase 3 Overall this movie feels more like a checklist than a story. The story, characters, and plot were extremely underdeveloped. That's why people don't like it.
To me that was the main issue at the time. It really felt "avenger1.5". When Avengers came out we literally never watched anything like that before. It was absolutely bananas. Then Ultron comes out and it's just more of the same. Is it better? Probably on many aspect (Wanda and Vision are great and I quite liked Ultron), but didn't resonated nearly as much.
My main problem with Marvel these days is, there's are so many, and a lot of the ones in the beginning were great and fresh that as the MCU goes on the standards keep changing. We're expecting each new movie/show to out do the last, and its just not going to happen. Iron Man 2 is fantastic
The main problem is that it's owned by Disney now. They care much more about quantity than quality sadly so they're pumping out too many projects. That's why there's been so many horrible shows, they just know that they'll still make money which is all they care about. However, some of the projects have actually been good, and I'm pretty sure they do that becuase they know if they fucked up major movies, their fanbase would disappear.
I'd definitly keep Doctor Strange at A-Tier Who cares that the big villain wasn't as memorable, when the build-up and creation of the protagonist was just that amazing
Iron Man 3 is one of the few MCU movies that has any character to it at all! Theres a lot of great action with and without the suit. The scene where the passengers are falling out of the plane and he rescues all of them by himself is such a great moment for Tony's character. And there are scenes without his suit or just chunks of it where he outsmarts the enemy. The whole point of his character is that his real superpower is his mind not the suit. It's why he takes Peter's away in Homecoming. It's way better than 2 where the villain's motivation is "Bird"
Whiplashes motivation was his father’s legacy that’s forgotten bc he was deported. Or at least that’s what I remember; but he was a pretty weak villain tbh
Honestly, I really like the humor in Ant-Man more than any other Marvel movie. It's usually not really wacky or goofy, a lot of it is just Scott Lang being a jokey guy.

Imo Thor 1 is the worst MCU movie. Thor 2 actually had a villain and I think the action in 2 was better and the funeral scene for her mom was kinda cool

When Doctor Strange was moved to B Tier, that shit hurt lmao. In all honestly though, As much as Kaecelius wasnt that big of a villian, he serves as a great mirror to Strange in the film. He's basically what Doctor Strange could've turned into if he continued down the path of selfishness. So as forgettable as his name is, i always saw him as an Evil Dr.Strange, before What If happened.
I think the film didn’t change the trope of villains much but they did change the way he defeated them. Not by beating them in combat but by sacrificing himself and losing for eternity which was a massive character development moment.
For WandaVision... I honestly think they should have made Agatha Harkness an Old Woman like she's supposed to be. Like keep Kathryn Hahn as Agnes for the whole show, but the Last Two Episodes should have had her revealed as the very powerful Old Lady Witch that she is. Really could have saved the entire show if you ask me. Also, Agatha is not all bad, she actually babysat for Reed Richards and she taught Wanda how to have children with Vision.

She's unaware that she doesn't have to, but is willing to go the extra mile as she's in pain. She also doesn't trust Hank Pym, as she blames him for her father's death, due to Hank firing him and discrediting him, as that lead to do Quantum experiments by himself without the proper expertise from the likes of Hank and Bill Foster. Since she doesn't trust Hank due to what happened to her father, and later herself, along with the fact that her plan is to extract and Quantum energy from her, which would possibly kill her, I think it makes sense (in her mind) she doesn't work with them.
They know that, which is why they weren't confused when they saw Spider-man homecoming/far from home on the list. By "marvel" they are meaning "MCU" or more specifically "Marvel studios." In defense of Iron Man 3, it has the most creative action scenes out of all the marvel movies when it forces tony to fight without his suits. There's other points and The Cosmonaut Variety Hour has a great review of the movie in one of his jumbo marvel review videos, and it has given me a new appreciation for the movie.
I actually do think Ultron was great in the film problem is the fact we really needed him way later and more stakes with the film. I mean the trailers made it seem it was going to be darker.

I agree with you, the original hulk was an actual beast to be reckoned with, his movements is just full of rage , while they do carry that same delivery in 2012 avengers, i feel like over the years they downgraded hulk and make him the "haha big guy dum dum funni!!". It's the last straw for me when they had thanos beating the shit outta hulk. Like, hulk is practically invincible, the angrier he gets the stronger he becomes. I'm pretty sure thanos is afraid of the hulk in the comics, seriously, that scene of thanos beating hulk without the full infinite stones really rub me the wrong way.

I genuinely think Wandavision is B tier. The series did very good in setting up the future of the scarlet witch and was overall very good. The only disappointing part was the ending. Them not embracing the fact that what Wanda did was wrong was the only problem. The whole point of the show was to understand "grief" and they did it beautifully.

@@toribibble yeah I think the point he was making is that Iron Man was a solo film and there was no guarantee that it would evolve into a cinematic universe. There had been other solo movies before but they didn't evolve into anything like the MCU. But when Tony Stark showed up in the end credits of The Incredible Hulk, that's when it really became a connected universe. So that is the argument there, I think, unless I'm wrong.
I was always hoping Dr Strange, Ragnarok and Black Panther would all be in at least B. When I saw the ranking for Dr Strange it made my day, and then they moved it down and I am crushed. How dare you Charlie, you will pay for these actions.

Something I really love about the Homecoming franchise is that these movies are focusing around basically different morals. Like Homecoming is about learning how to be a hero, FFH is about responsibility, and from what I heard, NWH will be about sacrifice. Edit: yes NWH was completely focused around a huge sacrifice Peter had to deal with

I do agree that homecoming is focused on Peter learning how to do the right thing, but he doesn’t learn much in far from home. I think the part that Charlie missed about them “steamrolling” Thanos in Endgame was that he didn’t have the Infinity Stones in Endgame, but he *did* have them when they fought him in Infinity War.
The only reason thanos even has an army in endgame is to stop people asking the question ‘well why doesn’t all the superheroes attack him all at once?’. They do absolutely nothing the entire battle and have no discernible goals let alone achieve anything for Thanos other than maybe scratch Spider-Man a couple times.

I'm just glad Doctor Strange, and Thor: Ragnarok were A and Stan Lee tier respectively. Doctor Strange has to be the most underrated MCU movie, and Ragnarok is looked at as "boring" but it's probably the funniest MCU film and was great development for Thor imo. Plus it introduced Korg, and that alone deserves S tier.

Iron Man 3 how they tackle Tony's PTSD from New York is soooo good. It was the first movie that wasn't just "another Marvel movie." It broke the formula.
I personally really enjoyed the Incredible Hulk on a recent rewatch. For 2008, the fight scenes are fucking INCREDIBLE and the cgi (besides the tree kick) is actually really great. Abomination's design is extremely fierce and his presence is polarizing and actually affects the story. The final fight scene is glorious and represents everything the Hulk SHOULD be. Now this nerd fucking calm Hulk bullshit that we have today. All in all I feel that the Incredible Hulk is massively underrated.

I disagree with the saying "a movie is as good as it's villain" only for guardians of the galaxy. Ronan is forgettable as hell but the movie SLAPS!

I think the film didn’t change the trope of villains much but they did change the way he defeated them. Not by beating them in combat but by sacrificing himself and losing for eternity which was a massive character development moment.

For WandaVision... I honestly think they should have made Agatha Harkness an Old Woman like she's supposed to be. In defense of Iron Man 3, it has the most creative action scenes out of all the marvel movies when it forces tony to fight without his suits. There's other points and The Cosmonaut Variety Hour has a great review of the movie in one of his jumbo marvel review videos, and it has given me a new appreciation for the movie.

I agree with you, the original hulk was an actual beast to be reckoned with, his movements is just full of rage , while they do carry that same delivery in 2012 avengers, i feel like over the years they downgraded hulk and make him the "haha big guy dum dum funni!!". It's the last straw for me when they had thanos beating the shit outta hulk. Like, hulk is practically invincible, the angrier he gets the stronger he becomes. I'm pretty sure thanos is afraid of the hulk in the comics, seriously, that scene of thanos beating hulk without the full infinite stones really rub me the wrong way.
People always forget that Civil War was also the first MCU movie to introduce Spider man into their universe which is why I personally really loved it

There had been other solo movies before but they didn't evolve into anything like the MCU. But when Tony Stark showed up in the end credits of The Incredible Hulk, that's when it really became a connected universe. So that is the argument there, I think, unless I'm wrong.

Something I really love about the Homecoming franchise is that these movies are focusing around basically different morals. Like Homecoming is about learning how to be a hero, FFH is about responsibility, and from what I heard, NWH will be about sacrifice.

I think the part that Charlie missed about them “steamrolling” Thanos in Endgame was that he didn’t have the Infinity Stones in Endgame, but he *did* have them when they fought him in Infinity War.
The only thing that spoiled endgame battle for me is captain marvel, too powerful and cringy.
The only reason thanos even has an army in endgame is to stop people asking the question ‘well why doesn’t all the superheroes attack him all at once?’. They do absolutely nothing the entire battle and have no discernible goals let alone achieve anything for Thanos other than maybe scratch Spider-Man a couple times.

I'm just glad Doctor Strange, and Thor: Ragnarok were A and Stan Lee tier respectively. Doctor Strange has to be the most underrated MCU movie, and Ragnarok is looked at as "boring" but it's probably the funniest MCU film and was great development for Thor imo. I personally really enjoyed the Incredible Hulk on a recent rewatch. For 2008, the fight scenes are fucking INCREDIBLE and the cgi (besides the tree kick) is actually really great. Abomination's design is extremely fierce and his presence is polarizing and actually affects the story. The final fight scene is glorious and represents everything the Hulk SHOULD be. Now this nerd fucking calm Hulk bullshit that we have today. All in all I feel that the Incredible Hulk is massively underrated.

@@Yoko4797 It was so goddamn boring too; the airport scene was meant to be the one getting people butts into cinemas but it was super bad imo. It is incredibly visually unappealing and really boring, the only thing that saved it was Spidey, he was great

No way Ant-Man and the Wasp is that low, but I do find his hate for the movie hilarious. I’d put it at D-Tier when you compare it to other Marvel movies. Fun time and it’s one of the funnier MCU movies IMO
