    F.A.Q.
    - Bikes are affected too
    - Wheel types don't change the results
    - Top speed is lowered, it isn't just acceleration
    - Catch up is turned off. It always is with me.
    - It has nothing to do with previously owned vehicles being affected by character transfer. Newly bought vehicles are slower too
    - Initial testing suggests best fully upgraded cars lists won't change very much
    Posted this in the description too but I feel people don't look there very often :)

    • @Fachuro
      @Fachuro Před 9 lety

      One theory I had about this yesterday which would be interesting to test, is if the Character Transfer reset the skill data on the Character whilst still maintaining the stat display as it was. So basically your driving skill would be read as 0 but displayed as maxed. And then possibly because of the display it refuses to increase, so you are stuck with 0 driving skill on your character. This could be tested by starting a new character in NG and leveling up their driving skill to see if it then performs better then your main character.

    • @broughy1322
      @broughy1322  Před 9 lety +3

      Driver skill on GTA online only affects ability to move car when airborn

    • @TheDpt1979
      @TheDpt1979 Před 9 lety +1

      its to cope with the 30fps, many people would have experienced the frame rate drop at high speeds where the map wouldn't render properly, reducing the cars speed lets the game keep up with the motion

    • @karremania
      @karremania Před 9 lety +1

      TheDpt1979 The margin of the 2 speeds would make no to very little change to framerate, we're talking like 100 versus 105-110mph at tops (fictional numbers), same for acceleration. If the console couldnt cope with a Prairy, so they lowered it, why would a Turismo R do just fine, since its over twice as fast as a Prairy?

    It could be to try and make the speedometer correct on the new gen

    • @broughy1322
      @broughy1322  Před 9 lety +5

      I guess testing the speedometer is something I can do for this series XD

    • @jdrakefrederick
      @jdrakefrederick Před 9 lety

      *****
      But to make it correct wouldn't the vehicles actually need to go faster? I know the top speed is capped online around 150-160 or so, but the in game descriptions give top speeds of 200+ for many cars.
      Making the cars slower would only make the discrepancy more noticeable, right?

    • @broughy1322
      @broughy1322  Před 9 lety

      Joshua F Unless the speedometer is woefully inaccurate

    • @jdrakefrederick
      @jdrakefrederick Před 9 lety

      Well it's going to be by sheer game design isn't it? The speed in game (along with the gravity/weight of objects) is grossly overstated to give the appearance of speed while driving.
      Making the cars actually go slower would only make the "real" speed even more inaccurate. That's what I'm thinking anyway,

    • @BabyKobeeee
      @BabyKobeeee Před 9 lety

      The top speed is capped in normal online to reduce pop in. But in races I don't think it's capped.

    @liquidmojo Před 9 lety +1

    Interesting finding, hopefully it's a bug and not a new "feature" for the next gen so you won't have to re-test all those cars! I'd say this is major if the old world record laps and times carried over. I guess we will find out hopefully by the next major title update.
    I'm also curious to see how well the new (to GTA5/GTAO at least) cars such as the Dukes, Stallion and Blista Compact stack up against the top cars of the class. I'm also hoping the new stock car livery will carry over to GTAO. I've been busy playing the single player campaign in next gen so I haven't had a chance to see how the next gen conversion of GTAO turned out. From what has been shared on CZcams however, everything looks fantastic!

  • @teharbitur7377
    @teharbitur7377 Před 9 lety +11

    It could be a technical reason. Maybe they adjusted the physics of the game witch would change the acceleration forces. Or they take new forces into account like wind resistance ect.

  • @MrYaksosk
    @MrYaksosk Před 9 lety +2

    Very interesting! I'm betting most people don't like this. Supers get used as much as they do because people want a faster racing experience.
    I have no idea why they'd do this unless they plan on introducing faster cars in the future.
    If you're going to look at anything next, I'[d be interested to know if OR tyres still have a stability advantage. If there was anything they were going to correct, I'd guess that'd be one of the first things.

    That is mad weird 2 to 3 seconds behind idk why I'm thinking it's what you said Broughy, for the textures and roads to pop up so you won't run into something random that spawns outta nowhere or throws you off. Good investigating Broughy your like a private eye GTA Detective now lol. Oh and hows the first person? I know that has to be trippy being in that FOV.

    I'm thinking speed is all scaled down so that they can get the better resolutions on the new generation without having serious frame dips at high speed. R* might change this again for PC because they can be a whole lot more powerful, and deal with better resolutions at higher frame rates.

    • @broughy1322

    I'm pretty sure it's because the "next gen" hardware can't handle rendering the world at high speeds in 1080p without pop-ins and texture fade. They probably had to choose to either reduce the quality of the graphics, reduce the resolution or this... and actually this might have been best option.

    Stock car comparisons on the freeways or airport runways?

  • @andyhoffman8384
    @andyhoffman8384 Před 9 lety +4

    I have mixed feelings. As humans, we generally don't like change. We like to keep things consistent and the same so we know how to handle things. However, this CAN be a good thing. With cars being a bit slower, you can really let her rip and take it to the limit and minimize your mistakes. Until I actually play it on the next gen (well, current gen actually) PS4, I can't give an ACTUAL opinion until I've played it. Moving forward...
    Things I'd like to see investigated:
    -Do carbon modifications on a car improve the car? Does the lighter weight allow it to get more speed and better traction?
    -I've seen that sunglasses can change the way your character sees the environment. Does this affect the frame rate at all whilst racing? Also, will it reduce the glare from the sun while racing in first person?
    -If applicable, could you do a comparison of load times (both starting up GTA Online and respawing) of PS3 vs PS4? I know for the PS3 (when you're just starting the console and waiting for GTA Online to load), it takes 20,000 years! XD
    -Are we ever going to see the fastest running shoes in Cutting Coroners GP?! XD Just kidding.
    I'm not quite sure how to word this but ... How is the rain while racing? Does it feeling like you slip around more than on the PS3/360? I can't wait to do night time racing in the rain in first person mode! :-) And finally...
    -Can YOU uncover the Jetpack?! XD
    Thanks so much for bringing this issue to everyone's attention. I think I can speak for us all when I say I really enjoy your content and appreciate the hard work you put into your videos and that you take your work seriously. I feel that I learn something new almost every time I watch ANY of your videos and that I'm truly valued, respected, and welcomed in the NODO community. Thanks again for everything to you've done and continue to do and have a great rest of 2014 and a stellar 2015, good sir! :-)

      It's a possibility, but it's too early to say. Voltic won't be much better though since acceleration is affected too.

    that winners circle/scene/shot looks nice, but i only got a bit of a glance, whats your though on it, either ways,
    do you think races in NXGen would be interesting, or peculiar while it stays as it is,(unless it isn't an error), so far NXGen is appealing, despite the fact of PS+, and that i have no way of getting it at the moment, but wish all NXGen's a wonderful NXGen Experience, ^-^
    some how i had expected the controls, and how the vehichles feels to be different rather than their speed, either ways, have a nice day, ltr ^-^

    • @broughy1322
      @broughy1322  Před 9 lety

      Yeah I like the addition of the car in the background of the winner. The cars are in general easier to use so races may end up being a lot closer. Or at least it will be easier to get closer to the maximum out of the cars.

    They probably re-scaled the car to the world for first person view

  • @FNevisonAndrews
    @FNevisonAndrews Před 9 lety

    It could possibly just be so they can add new, even faster cars while still keeping the bikes faster, unless the bikes are scaled down as well? In which case I guess it's a change in some aspect of the physics of the game.

      ***** How about you test, say, the Sabre, Vigero, and similar muscle cars on your test track, then use those new-gen slower times to compare to the Dukes and Stallion?
      It's a pretty safe bet, assuming all cars were slowed down with their Top Upgraded Cars positions maintained.
      Instead of re-testing everything, test a few cars to see if positions were maintained, then where the new cars fit in with their classes.

  • @diomaiale123
    @diomaiale123 Před 9 lety +1

    You really need to test them again with 0% armour. I think they increased the gap on how the weight of the car influences the top speed. On last gen a sensible 5% difference was discovered, so..

    If first person is slowing things down maybe you should try a race where the perspective is locked to third person? It might not make a difference at all because they've probably locked the times across the entire game, but it could be worth a go?

  • @Tonyhotrod69
    @Tonyhotrod69 Před 9 lety

    What I'm feeling in next gen is the cars actually shifting gears now instead of just slapping straight into the gears like last gen which would make the cars slower since they aren't instant changing gears without the input of a human on the shifter.

  • @vxwk

    Off topic but how is the ps4? I'm still on the fence about which one to get. I know the majority of NoDo have gone to the ps4 but I hear that psn isn't great and also I wouldn't be able to transfer my Xbox Live account over.

      @broughy1322  Před 9 lety

      You can transfer your character from 360 to PS4, and I've had no issues whatsoever. Also some of the comparison vids are showing the PS4 to be better in some areas when it comes to the fullness of foliage and whatnot. PS4 seems to be the better option so far.

    So on last gen, even supercars had rly low top speed (around 200 km/h) because of HW limitations. Now, they have much more power and they make cars even slower? WTF Rockstar? I hope this is a bug, and if not, modders will be able to fix this on PC.

  • @xL1PEx
    @xL1PEx Před 9 lety +1

    What?! I expected cars to become faster, as in last gen they had a speed cap in both SP and MP (the speed cap was more significant on MP because of network and such) due to loading times, so I expected it would have been lifted in these "new" "powerful" consoles, really weird, must be R* Logic at work again.

    Hmm... Not sure how to feel about this, its not exactly bad since it has affected everything, but i kinda liked how the acceleration made it feel like you were just exploding out of a corner when your in a Zentorno or similar. So i guess it will make the cars seem a little more tame i suppose?

    • @broughy1322

  • @mav9504
    @mav9504 Před 9 lety +2

    I'm glad this happened as it'll help with *frame rate* online, I've been wanting this since the beginning at that. You all know this, you drove so fast on last gen that the game dropped frames, lagged out, maybe even froze the game? Cars could drive just too damn fast, which didn't look aesthetically pleasing to me, it's inherently easy to drive in this game anyway.

    • @broughy1322
      @broughy1322  Před 9 lety

      I wouldn't mind them slowing down the cars if they scaled back the traction too. Now the cars are just too easy to drive.

    • @mav9504
      @mav9504 Před 9 lety

      It's certainly arcady, but it always has been man :/ I wonder if this game puts your GT game off.

    • @guitarman0365
      @guitarman0365 Před 9 lety

      Mav rick that happens to me even now ....it has to do with internet connection not that the cars are too fast for the game to handle. I have some sessions where i am flying top speed through los santos perfectly with nothing getting in my way...other times when i get a laggy connection the framerate dips down majorly and sometimes the screen will freeze for 3 seconds but i can still here the car moving. Ya no reducing the cars speed does not help or hurt the framerate for next gen that is just you either luck out and have a good overall connection with everybody or you dont and the performance dips down.

  • @jdrakefrederick
    @jdrakefrederick Před 9 lety +1

    Another thing... This means that cars with higher top speeds are hurt even more. If it's scaled, what used to be a 10mph difference may now only be 2-3mph, which means faster cars (Adder?) are even more useless. At least they could have made the difference in top speeds noticeable by scaling down in a non linear fashion maybe? (i.e. the top 10 supers are MUCH faster than most).
    But then again I guess this isn't a racing game.

  • @Valkyrie427

    Can this speed issue be bypassed by performing wheelies on motorcycles?

    • @broughy1322
      @broughy1322  Před 9 lety

      Wheelies do still improve performance on bikes but they are still a little slower overall.
