    I wouldn't mind these changes if they applied them to all cars and increased their default speed but we all know that's never gonna happen.

    • @mettaursp309
      @mettaursp309 Před 3 lety +4

      @NovaWolf Gaming Applying both the new anti curb boost flags and bumping up the top speed wouldn't change the apparent speed, as mentioned in the video. The map size would be a non factor because the cars would still be travelling roughly the same distance in the same amount of time. They would just be more consistent and logical in their behavior.

    • @mettaursp309
      @mettaursp309 Před 3 lety +1

      @NovaWolf Gaming According to what though? This very solution was proposed in the video with the reasoning that applying the flag also applied roughly a 30% slow down from lack of constant curb boosts on most cars. The engine power increase was proposed to offset that loss to result in a rough net gain or loss in speed of 0.

    • @mettaursp309
      @mettaursp309 Před 3 lety

      @NovaWolf Gaming I think that's just a break down in terminology usage at this point. I don't think anyone would reasonably suggest top speed changes, at least not across the board. This seems more like a case of colloquial use vs technical terms and a disconnect in which definitions are used.
      The proposition from the video is about keeping the top speed the same, and keeping acceleration curves roughly as close to the originals as possible, and it seems to be what the OP was referring to as well. Making extreme changes to the handling beyond correcting the negative impacts of specific handling flags goes against the spirit of the proposed change.

    • @mettaursp309
      @mettaursp309 Před 3 lety

      @NovaWolf Gaming The OP isn't saying top speed either. They said default speed, which if you're gonna stick by rigid technical definitions based on the settings existing in the game, is not top speed.
      You need to take into account the context the comment was made under, which the context shows a very similar suggestion within the video itself which doesn't say top speed either, but clarifies engine power.
      Of course neither of us can say for certain what the OP meant to say unless they come out and clarify. However, rigidly sticking to one interpretation based on rigid and specific technical definitions, something commenters tend to not stick to, and using a technical term that OP didn't even use when there is context to suggest another interpretation is a very odd choice.

    • @mettaursp309
      @mettaursp309 Před 3 lety

      @NovaWolf Gaming That's the problem I pointed out earlier: you're assuming they're using the same definitions you are.
      Given the context of the video, and how one of the newer handling flags is said to fix the curb boost issue at the cost of slowing vehicles down, and the following suggestion of bumping up their stats to offset that effect, I feel it is pretty safe to say the definitions being used are different.
      The context from the video much more closely matches the comment than the prescribed definitions you are pushing on it.

    Idk why they are tinkering so much with flags and what not. It may sound easy to do but, why didnt they just make vehicles not gain a speed advantage by hitting kerbs, and not hinder the driving experience by having vehicles jumping around the road... Why not just make em smooth over kerbs and when hitting them not gain or lose speed. It gets complicated and really hard to keep track of which vehicle has flags or a flag.

    • @broughy1322
      @broughy1322  Před 3 lety +6

      To be fair to them what you're describing is exactly what they're trying to do. It's not the work of a minute given these issues are inherent problems with the game engine, they need to experiment. However I do agree that the problem is that they're experimenting with current cars, so we're left with a mess where all cars in the game seem to have different characteristics and programming based on when they were released. Would've been better to keep it all in house and just push it for the next game (although maybe they needed the backlash to all the original engine and bouncy flags to know not to keep pursuing that avenue).

I can do kerb boosting well enough if I see other people gaining from it in a particular spot, but brake boosting is still a bit of a mistery. I know of one track where I could pull it off at all, and even then I'm very inconsistent, so I end up just braking with no boost to be found.

    The update right after the Tezerac (? spelling) changed the roll over rate of every car in the game , those you bought at the beginning of the game as well as new . ALL VEHICLES ! before this update i was doing 14 and even 15 barrel rolls off of a the first jump in stunt zebra, now it stalls out after the first and goes unstable. Even the Tropis rally which was made for stunt's fails even on end over end flips. I sent a clip to rock star asking why they destroyed cunning stunts and all stunt driving by doing this . The only reply i ever got was a message of yes we have seen your clip of you spinning your car like crazy then landing on the wheels and continuing on. I gained a ton of rp from stunting cars and my rank is high due at least half of it to stunting. but i can't imagine they would nerf all cars over something so minor. Anyway if you could find any explanation for this I at least would find it interesting . It could be nothing more than more delivery goods get damaged and lost the longer the truck is on it's side ! but ruining races for that seams short sighted to me and why not at least remove whatever it is in races ! I know i've seen it take longer for even you to turn your car back over during races and it's enough to piss anyone off LOL. anyways thanks regardless if you decide to address this or not. ✌😎👍

      Instead of focusing on "hey, Rockstar seemingly finally did what they wanted to do for so long, congrats" you try to bash them for something completely off-topic to the video.

But if they do that they should up all car's top speed and make all cars smooth over bumps, like it has off-road wheels installed. But I also don't mind the kerb boosting because i personally love the acceleration and the speed you get from the bumps. I just find it satisfying getting all the speed. So it's either fix it correctly or remove all the flags and have like we use too. just my thoughts on it

    • @ROCKY5516v
      @ROCKY5516v Před 3 lety

      @NovaWolf Gaming What i meant was since the kerb boosting flag will be enabled, all cars will be a lot slower than they are now. So to have a balance i think increasing the top speed should work. For example the T20's top speed is 128mph with kerb boosting. But if you put the kerb boosting handling flag then the top speed is decreased to 108mph. So increasing the top speed on all cars could balance it. But i doubt R* would go that far. And yes I agree the map is small.

    The reason Rockstar doesn't go back and change the old cars, by the way, is likely because of their microtransaction policy. I used to work for a moderate-sized AAA game company that sold various cosmetics and boosts in an MTX store, and often people (me) would give them feedback saying stuff like, "This item kind of sucks to use," or "This cosmetic clips with the player character" or whatever. Their policy was: once it's released, they cannot make changes to it outside of fixing obvious bugs, because you risk pissing off the customer who spent money (or a much larger amount of in-game currency) on it. Anyone who bought it presumably liked it, and so making changes to an item people 'like' was considered a risk, even for objective slam-dunk 100% beneficial changes. Similarly, Rockstar is in a similarly difficult place having only one unified economy, and selling in-game currency via Shark Cards. Basically, this makes every vehicle in the game potentially a 'MTX' vehicle that someone paid actual real life money for, and thus making changes to it is a risky proposition. And the fact that Red Dead Online is _two_ distinct economies - money (free/uncapped currency), and gold (premium/drip-fed currency) instead of just copy-pasting GTAO's clearly successful MTX schema supports this idea. Now, I personally don't agree with this, but I thought it might be useful to shed some insight on why these seemingly nonsense decisions are made.
    To use a metaphor that maybe doesn't exactly work, it would be like if you bought a shirt, then a week later the manufacturers broke into your house and changed the hem size. Maybe it'll still end up fitting, but it's not the thing you bought.

    I think a reasonable thing that Rockstar should do for the next-gen release of GTA Online is to apply the anti-curb boosting flag to all cars but increase engine power by 30-50%. This would make them about equal in terms of speed on bumpy terrain and faster on smooth roads (which would also probably help with all the people complaining about the low top speed of cars in the game). Additionally, I think a good middle point for the problem of tires can clip is to make all tires clip about half as much as offroad tires currently do. This would make the cars reasonable smooth to drive without looking ridiculous with high-end/sport wheels. This last bit is more wishful thinking, but it would be awesome if we got a new category of "racing" wheels that could provide different benefits to the car (ie. one type of wheels could allow for a lot of clipping/smooth driving and another could shift the grip more towards the front or rear of the car).
