PoE had so little competition that they decided to create PoE 2 to have something to compete against.
What competition? Diablo 4 has 20x players than PoE. It even has more players on steam and 95% of players play on battlenet

I keep hearing that it is a base code issue and the loading of all items, and I just think about my 40 lost epoch tabs completely filled out... I mean they can only say it so much..

Ultimately it feels like Blizzard might be hampered by the design of their game being bad on a fundamental level, i.e. low modularity and customisation options. The entire way the game works and is built is inherently awful and limiting.
If the issue is with the foundations (the engine, the way the game is fundamentally built, etc.) then there's truly little they can do.

I like that GGG isn't afraid to immerse players in complex mechanics that take time to learn. In D4 it’s the opposite, there’s nothing to delve into, the authors consider their players stupid.

This game isn't even an actual arpg anymore. It's just a bunch of leagues with overly complicated garbage to blind you from the fact that for years you've been playing the same story, the same skills, the same meta classes and the same items each season. PoE has been on rinse and repeat for years and their fan base is just as brain dead as others to see that.

Well, not every time. The last one made me wonder if it'd be good, then hate it almost immediately. Needed some QoL. No, walk to EVERY GRAVE to place your 64 coffins....fuck right off, give me a minimap to place them from. This league and Affliction? Absolutely. I loved affliction league even though people broke the economy with their abyss bullshit, it was a FUN league. This looks like its going to be the most fun I've seen yet.

D4: Releases a new horse cosmetic, reskins some bosses from the campaign, oh, and you need to pay $70 for it.

Look D4 is a mess in a lot of aspects but this isn’t accurate. Their monetization for the cosmetic shop is a scam, but it’s JUST cosmetics. PoE makes you pay cash for inventory and stash slots. D4 gives out free cosmetics and even though their stash is busted to hell, they’re not charging extra when they get their head out of their asses long enough to increase the size of it.

@@obitum The difference is that D4 is a fully priced game whilst PoE is free (though I view it as more like a ~20 dollar game in stash tabs from stash tab sale, which happen about every three weeks.) If PoE tried to get all of their income just from supporter packs and cosmetics I doubt they'd make nearly as much money so they kinda have to have *something* that people want/need to pay for on top of those and they could've gone in waaaay worse direction with that decision than they did.

POE is the true successor to D2 IMO. Why I started so late? Not sure. Last years Exilecon was so intiruiging that I started playing POE. Glad I did. POE2 looks so good. I might be in the minority though but I love that they are focusing on skill synergies than spamming 1 button builds. They still can be done in POE2 so.....
It's free too. As a D2 players, I highly recommend PoE.

I've never really understood the hype for POE, but seeing people show this much love for a game and seemingly passionate devs who listen in these times, I've got to try it.
As a fellow gamer, pls try it, i regret waiting 2 much till i started ( a tip : dont stress on what to learn, just enjoy a deep game)

The only thing I still have a big problem with is losing xp on death because it keeps me from pushing characters past 95-96 (incentivizes you to play easy/safe content for tons of hours on end, which is BAD, I shouldn't lose 10-20 maps worth of xp if I die ONCE).

Well blizzard is a shitty company and companies like that exist. Many of them too saddly. Heck I'm working for one currently and they are fake trying to advertise the game when it barely has any actual gameplay on it with just 2 people hired to work on it and literally no ideas from the higher ups given aside from "realistic MMO and small map"

To put this into perspective, GGG as a company has less total employees than just the D4 team at blizzard. They come out with this league while also working on PoE 2 and they are working on the next league already.

I have heard it on good authority, that in Poe 1 and 2, when you see another player you don't have to load his entire inventory, all his stuff in stashes, everything he owns both on steam and logs of everything he has ever done during his time on this good earth. Technology is truly here.

@@plushrei5926 Basically, yes. Full inv/stash loaded whenever someone nears you. It was a revelation, to say the least, once they admitted to that.
You do however load your MTX inventory, so fresh accounts load slightly faster than accounts with lots of MTX. It's why racers use fresh accounts for record-setting.

I keep on saying this. At this point Blizzard should just accept facts and start making movies and TV shows. I played Diablo 4 for the cutscenes, it's like an interactive movie. Which was nice, but how often do you watch a movie multiple times. Some people may, but it's rare to have someone want to watch it back to back numerous times, and that is how I felt about D4.
This game can't be real.
PoE is a freaking miracle man. Things gone right and staying right and I hope they stay right and tight.

Yes free to play but $20 -$30 for stash tabs. Stash Tabs are quite useful in seperating the amount of currency, Maps, Divinity Cards, etc. Well Worth it. So much better than paying $70 for a game + the $40 expansion that's coming out in Oct.

They combined turn based games like Travian, Civilization etc with ARPG mechanics. Clever guys! They can really think out of the box!! Well done...Creativity and passion are always rewarded by the gaming community which is saturated by the same patterns/mechanics over and over again!

PoE class choice barely matters, its one of the reasons the game sucks.
Not really seeing as how your inventory is limited and you’re forced to pay money to expand it and can’t do it any other way. With the amount of item bloat this game has now they’re 100% banking on die hard players to buy slots to hold all the crap you need in this game unless you just run 1 meta build you copied off a website.
D4 might charge for the game and expansion but that’s been pretty standard for online RPGs since the early 2000’s. Charging for inventory and stash is 100% a 2020’s f2p scam.
PoE is fine, but acting like it’s flawless because you’ve sunk cost fallacy scars from blizzard games doesn’t make it better in EVERY way. Some, sure, but not because “big company bad”.

I wish they handled Diablo 3 better. I've been playing modded versions of D2 for over a decade. I can't understand how blizz messed up something that was already so good. Playing Project D2 right.
It took PoE 14 years to add this though.
Path of Exile isn’t a seamless open world. It has loaded instances. That’s the difference. Your stash in PoE is behind an instance that is loaded solely for the town. So they can do whatever they want because the rest of the game isn’t being loaded at the same time. You leave town to go to an area and it loads a new instance that is only you and your party if applicable. D4 is an open world with hundreds of moving parts that are constantly checked. It can’t be compared.
@@Vexkionit absolutely can be compared. One company takes an eternity to improve their systems that everyone hates, the other does it within a couple of months. No consumer cares about the difficulty of performing a task because it's irrelevant. The D4 devs are completely incompetent.
@@Conflixx-92 PoE hasn't been making this update for 14 years. This is just the most recent update they've worked on.
I do have to respect that they're confident enough, (and have the track record to back it up), to just "rip the band aid off" and delete a whole class and completely rework massive sections of the talent trees without extensive testing. More or less just being like, 'yea, we have no idea what the full extent of all these changes will be. but we're confident that our changes will be good for the health of the game and that our players will figure it out.'

@@lolsa123 That is just hilarious. There never was and never will be microtransactions for the current league mechanic. The only kinds of microtransactions involving any league mechanics are new stashes which hold the currency for it and even that is not necessary since you can just stash them in a regular stash tab as well. No reason to bash the game just because you prefer D4. Both games cater to different audiences. The monetization in PoE is extremely fair however.

Mark Started as a QA guy at GGG. Dude tested the fuck out of the game and became a dev then was promoted again into lead designer due to his knowledge.
I didn’t play last league but I’m definitely playing this time. Probably Marauder or Duelist since endurance charges are gonna be crazy this league.

@@TerribleSimRacer you do know that the league only launches next week? so we do not have player numbers to PoE yet. anyway, enjoy a single new class and a bit of story in diablo soon. PoE basically got 3 new classes, buffs on the whole game and basically a new game on top of that with the new mechanic. i have played diablo 4 quite a bit, but no comtent update to it had this much content.

never played POE. Guess ill play it now. Downloading. Also, I noticed some Baulders Gate type mechanics implemented here with the boss that invades your town and you have to choose how it goes. pretty cool, seems like the devs are paying attention unless this is normal for their games.
