- Top speed exposed in GTA 5 & GTA Online! In this GTA Fact-Finding episode I go in depth on what it is that actually affects top speed, run some tests to prove what I'm saying, and find out just how fast you're actually going in game. I would also check out the links below.

For kilometres per hour simply multiply the values in the video by 1.6. For reference the speed of the Adder at the end of the video is approximately 200 kph.

When the game was just released we always thought that the Adder was the best car for racing and top speed...
But Entity was the best for racing and the Z-type for top speed...
Honey Badger The Monroe is 0.5 mph faster than the Entity, by the way.

Awesome, you need to make more of these. I wish it was easier to play around with handling files in GTA, I'd love to make a more realistic handling file that would make the vehicles match the performance of their real life counterparts.

Wow, so cool even now, this revitalises my interest in the game and makes me more Interested in vehicles and racing specifically, I'm gonna watch all these.
Good video, Broughy. Driving force is super important. I knew there was other things going on in this game, just take a Jester over dirt & watch it struggle compared to the Massacro even though the cars are close under normal tarmac conditions.
A video about driving force & different road surfaces (snow, dirt, rain etc) would be pretty interesting actually.

3 points:
1) Great channel with interesting content. It's clear you put a lot of thought into this and it's a good starting point for considering car comparisons in GTA.
2) Your cars are not always going top speed in the checkpoints after the fourth. Your have uphill and downhill portions that will affect speed. I'll add here that I assume GTA programmers know how to realistically model car physics, because it really seems so from driving in the game. Mass matters to top speed when going up or downhill, because gravity becomes an accelerating force. Also, it's just obvious in your video at the end, and it's obvious when you drive cars on grades and hear the engine RPM change.
3) I'm going to guess that the top speed stat relates to gearing ratios. That's the theoretical top speed of a car. You can't go faster than your max engine RPM in top gear, obviously. And few cars reach max RPM in top gear, a car geared that way would be geared poorly for other concerns.
you should work at rockstar really. or even making your own racing game! it's my first time seeing someone explain a game scientifically. you're doing a great job and thank you for the awesome video!

As for your other comment about suspension, it's different for every car butultimately it won't help with the best lap time, though it may make it easier for you to reach that based on your handling preference. Are you sure the Z-Type is faster, the difference was so minimal it could be down to experiment error, as you didn't take the exact same line.
There must be an equation where you punch those 3 values and the actual top speed comes out of the other side.
There has to be an equation, yes, but I think it was never revealed otherwise there wouldn't have been a need for the testing videos anymore lol

Why Rockstar does not employ you as an unofficial vehicle tester is beyond me. This one video had more substance, work and information than any of those GTA V youtubers' whole account.

Makes me wonder if they'll review what the cars they developed actually do or if they already knew to begin with. We might see a change perhaps later? Personally, would love to see certain cars get a boost in stats.
I sometimes wonder if most of the other GTA V youtubers is paid by Rock Star to spread miss information intended to make people waste money in hope they will buy more horribly horribly expensive shark cards.

nice silent ending, for a very long time, i have felt that the Adder was the z-type of the new gta's(note this was before i was well informed from your videos, and before you had made most of your DLC vehicle tests)
but the Z-Type's vintage strength still beats its Descendant, specially since its the Super Sport version, Truffade by now probably wondering what went wrong, when their vehicle that beats the fuel consumption of a burning oil refinery, was beaten in a simple drag race(which it was meant to dominate) either way great work, Broughy, most of people hypothesis/theories would be left unanswered, with the big what ifs.

Very nice video, love the effort. I think it would be interesting to find out if in cockpit gauges it tells you truth about the top speed. After your previous video i was trying out Z-type and Adder (both fully upgraded) in cockpit, and on adder gauges it was saying about 120mph, but on Z-type it was about 100 if I remember. Also another thing to find out if upgraded cars get same amount of driving force (compare fully upgraded sultan to fully upgraded bifta).
That's the topic for a future video ;)

The road is not flat enough for this test.. it affects the different top speeds, when you only change one aspect :-) A but difficult for me to explain... if, lets say in the race with the Adder versus z-type, the road went a bit uphill all the way, i would think that the Adder would have pulled away. Because the driving force is more important up hill :-) But i still like the video, and you make some good points! :D keep up the good work!
