In 5 minutes, Pete Buttigieg articulated more intelligent ideas and words than Donald Trump has uttered in 5 years.
Literally true.
In 5 years? Ever I'd say.
Uttered in his life.
5??? How about in his entire 70+ years!!!

A gay man just explain the importance of a womanâs right to choose because even though there is literally zero way pregnancy could affect him directly, he knows that giving people their choice affects us all. Go Pete.
Neither could all of the white 80 year old men in the supreme court, house and senate.......
It's called empathy, something the GOP seems to be lacking in for the past decades
Pregnancy does affect him directly. He has 2 children conceived thru IVF which will also become illegal in certain states.

Pete Buittigieg is a very rare politician: articulate, knowledgeable, and empathetic. Bravo.
Republicans never talk like that. I can name 10 that are just always hostile and crazy. They need to force feed their beliefs because they''re barely acceptable.
He reminds me so much of Obama.
I can't help but listen when he talks.
I hate to sound like this, but America has been dumbing itself down to the point where a thoughtful, intelligent man may be beyond their ability to understand and beyond their patience which is limited to sound bytes.
I desperately want a woman to finally be able to be president. HOWEVER Pete is my exception to that. He is level headed, has common sense, ariticulate and most importantly has an abundance of intelligence! He would make a great president someday. I'd vote for him in a minute.

What I find astonishing, as an Australian looking at the USA, is how on earth did Americans vote for a guy like Donald Trump to be president, when you have such intelligent individuals like Pete Buttigieg, who was passed over in the last election. This says a lot about American politics.
American people not American politics. Scary ...scary...scary....
He has a shitty record and appeared to have sold out early in the game. Not everything that glitters is fishscale.
There will be endless books, movies, specials, documentaries, dissertations, etc on how Trump made it to President. His story is not even over yet. I predict his downfall will be his last chapter. Itâs complicated, twisted, and distasteful how it ever came to be.
Coz when inauthentic corporate Democrats do nothing for their base and only serve their corporate donors, people feel like they have no choice but to vote for an angry fascist. Democrats are almost as much to blame for Trump as Republicans.
Watch the videos of Christopher Lynn Hedges, he can give you an insight on how Trump becoming president happened.
I'd definitely consider voting for him in 2024. We need someone young, intelligent, compassionate and hard-working.
I'd also consider Stacy Abrams, Katie Porter and Jamie Raskin.
He and Raskin are a special type of verbally skilled orator who come across on rare occasion. I would be happy to have either run our lost and withering country.

We have had and have a President like your description. . Likely in our future Pete will be a candidate for our President. Given our circumdtances, Biden is proving a fabulous President. He has no dementia. He does suffer fatigue and has stuttered since a child. He conquered it, but as one grows older and gets tired during ghe work day, managing a stutter is tougher. Where you thought he made a gaff, he was just avoiding a stutter. Biden is fine!đșđžđâ€ïž
Buttigieg is a brilliant, brilliant man. âI trust women to draw that lineâ is a sentence that should resonate for decades. Yes! I do hope he runs again.
All of those aesthetic considerations aren't tantamount to holding the right policy positions or being an effective leader. He's a centrist at a time when Americans desperately need a progressive to win. Folks like you elected Biden and now have a Democratic President that refuses to codify Roe v. Wade and refused to push for a Medicare for All-type program for uninsured Americans during the worst global pandemic in one hundred years. For me, what is going on is heartbreaking. I am just shy of 80. Females had no rights when I was starting life out. We fought so hard for our rights and the rights of others. I remember when black kids weren't allowed to go to school with white kids. I remember being denied a raise because a male co-worker needed it more because "he is the breadwinner." I was a single mom. To see us move backwards like this is actually terrifying. Every human deserves the exact same rights. I don't care what color they are, religion, orientation or anything. Every person. No man or woman should tell me what to do with my body. No one has a right to tell me who to love. All of this is so wrong. What has happened to my country.
Well said.

At a glance, I would say it's a lack of attention span that allows flashy but shallow and ineffective people like Trump in. Also, the pervasive effect of capitalism at its seeming apotheosis. America as the hub of capitalism in the world is suffering the effects. Best of luck out there!
I understand why we have addressed the rights of various groups, women, blacks, LGBTQ etc. but the problem with that in my mind is that we create categories of people. We find divisions to make. As you stated everyone should have EQUAL rights based on the fact that they are human and alive. @@onyxd6270 then please explain what you mean. What does âMain Streetâ (location) have to do with anything?
And the Supreme Court members arenât humiliating and frightening vulnerable women as they enter abortion clinics. They are going right for the jugular: after purposely lying On Video by assuring they would never go against RvW so as to get themselves appointed, they now have absolutely no shame in reversing their promise. If the judges of the highest court on the land are dishonest in plain sight, how can we trust them to decide the fate of our fellow humans?
And back to my original question: what do you mean when you say you can go âappeal for the child.â? Which, by the way is only an embryo or at most a fetus. Not called a âchildâ by dictionary definition until After birth.
I will add that, if RvW gets reversed and âlifeâ is now legally stated to begin at conception, then every unborn âchildâ by this definition, must be entitled to all the protections and funding provided by city state and federal laws. That means everything from tax deductions and tax credits to collecting child support if mother fits the financial parameters; and that definitely means child support from the father. That means laws must be put in place to have mandatory dna tests for proven probable father, and then child support should be retroactive to date of conception.

He is brilliant, sensible, logical, moral.
My God, I live in Ireland but America, if this guy is not your president at some point in the next twenty years, you've missed a once in a century opportunity. I'd vote for this guy to be the worlds president.
Jimmy Carter 39th President didn't win a second term back in 1981 because ostensibly, quote unquote, "He was too nice."
@@scrumtrellecent
Being too nice is one way of putting it but a more accurate description would be that he was a real Christian and the leadership of the Evangelical Movement at the time like Jerry Falwell knew he was never going to implement the policies and use the kind of rhetoric that would energize their people. Falwell and his base openly used racist and homophobic language to stir up there supporters. And by then they had fully hitched their wagon to the Republican Party so they fought tooth and nail to elect Reagan.

I'd like to see it, but I fear that Americans are still too homophobic to elect a gay man to the presidency.

True. I'm not American but I was rooting for him in the last election. It's time for Americans to STOP voting old men and women in office. Start voting in young people. Alot of young people.

An interesting, articulate and sincere man. Now juxtapose him against the likes of Madison Cawthorn, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert and Matt Gaetz. It really shows just how far the GOP has fallen.
