Pete Buttigieg is a great leader. I hope he goes on to bigger and better political roles in his career. He demonstrates what empathy means. He is willing to listen to both sides - genuinely. He doesnât denigrate Republicans - he tries to understand what their perspective is. This is the only way de-polarization happens. Genuine respectful men and women.

I watched this man give a speech the night before he bowed out of the election. He is so eloquent and brings a young energy that we so desperately need.
Was just reading this morning that a poll taken shows that boomers are way up there in wanting to replace older members of government and to impose term limits. So the next time someone says "OK boomer" please bear this in mind. We were also the first to start marching to ban the bomb, end/not start wars and brought awareness of the climate crisis.

My respect for him continues to grow the more I see and hear him, and I was already impressed with him during his time running for the Democratic nomination. I hope to see him run again, if not 2024 then 2028. I think he would be a fantastic President.

My immediate reaction to hear Pete speak was "I like this kid"! LOL I'm 69 so a lot of people are kids to me! It's so nice to hear a response to a question with real substance. I listen to left leaning politics a lot but often hear the far right answers as well. It's night and day! I hope he stays in politics. Listening to someone who sounds intelligent, caring and his attention to details are things I ONLY hear on the left. On the right, there's a lot of noise and bluster and "whataboutisms" but not much rational answers. I read a comment from a Trumper in a response in Facebook yesterday. She didn't say she was a conservative but she didn't have to. She said something like "all the libs want is free stuff". I'm still fuming over that one. I responded "that's rude!" and then blocked her! I thought where did she get her info? Where do they say that? From what I've seen on the far rights tv clips, they are told so much garbage about libs! Of course they reduce words down to words they can understand but not question!
I am more and more conscious of who is consuming conspiracy rot and peddling it, and who is not. My line in the sand is, I don't want to engage with a person who isn't even dealing in reality. It is simply a nonstarter. Can't dialogue, can't argue a point on the same field, let alone the same planet. We must get rid of the rot that is conspiracy laden factless, bigoted, and like a grenade just blows things up crap that is not worthy of our time, nor mental energy. Being rooted in facts that are verifiable, and being rooted in accepted science, not because it is someone's opinion, and has persuaded us it is true, but can be proven over and over it is true, because it is legitimately tried and true through learned scientists who know the subject and done the research in accepted methods to arrive at their facts. I am not going to vote for a person who spouts conspiracy theories, nor who is peddling them. That includes the election deniers. There is just no basis in that that and does not serve our country well. Pete represents those qualities I can trust, and can share.

He's got a polished, attractive facade going, but his executive experience is scant and was not notably successful as mayor of a small city in Indiana. He's just too bland -- and a centrist technocrat is not what we need in The Oval Office. An authentic populist like Lieutenant Governor -- and soon to be U.S. Senator -- John Fetterman is the only sort of candidate capable of giving a faux populist like Trump or DeSantis the requisite whupping in 2024!

Too soon for POTUS! After more experience in the Congress I see him making a great one in the future. My pick at this point in time is Jamie Raskin. His credentials are incredible. We need more people like Pete in American government.
When I was collecting signatures so that Pete could be on the ballot in my state Democratic primary in 2020, I took a page out of his book. I live in a military area and there are a lot of conservatives. I would say that I wasn't asking them to vote for him, but to help a fellow American have the freedom to run for office and win or lose based on the votes. That convinced a lot of people.
I just went by Pete's example. Meet people where they are at and give them the benefit of the doubt that they're a generally decent human being. Most people are.
