I have fully resigned myself to the conclusion that Jack Smith for one reason or another will never file to have Cannon removed. The only reasons I can imagine for doing so is because he is being urged not to by outside influence or he truly has 0 faith that the appellate court will grant the motion no matter what Cannon does so he's resigned to let this drag out.
This also means that the prosecutors can argue that Donald shows no remorse for his wrongdoing, both in the underlying charges and the 10 contempts. A defendant who acts like him would lose themselves the possibility of probation and find themselves in jail.

I think when the judge said that, he was referring to his contempt of court charges and that he didn't want to put him in jail _at that time._ Although I'm hoping for more, my guess is he'll be sentenced to some form of confinement but that it'll be postponed while he appeals. Sensible people wouldn't vote for him knowing he has a prison sentence hanging over his head, but, then again, sensible people wouldn't allow him to run ...

Hardly necessary. At 30 days an instance, cumulative, he's already put up such a shopping list he can argue the tax sentencing in Appeals till the cows come home and still not see the light of day. The beauty is he can't appeal, so jail's even more effective than a gag order.
