Could Russia take Ukraine's second city? Putin on the offensive • FRANCE 24 English

  • Moscow reopening a new front with the taking of villages near Kharkiv. Could fresh ammo and military hardware pledged by NATO allies arrive too late? Moscow’s spring offensive taking form as Vladimir Putin replaces defense minister Sergei Shoigu with another Kremlin loyalist… Andrei Belousov, the deputy prime minister in charge of the economy.
Why the reshuffle? In a nation that’s fully embraced the transition to a war economy, what prospects as Russia’s president embarks on a fifth term…and what prospects for an outmanned and outgunned Ukraine which for the sake of its own survival can neither afford to keep fighting nor to embrace peace on Putin’s terms.

I think Ukraine would get a lot more sympathy/support from western citizens if the media was more realistic about the situation on the ground. I understand they want to keep morale up but the majority of people here in the US don't see any dire need to support Ukraine because all they've been told is how weak Russia is and how Ukraine has just been crushing them. I support Ukraine in the fight but I wish they’d cut back on having multiple Ukrainians on as experts, they’re not even close to impartial and get too emotional and defensive whenever anyone suggests Ukraine did anything wrong or didn’t make the right decision in a situation. Understandably, I’d be emotional too if my country was invaded and my people tortured and killed, but they’re not good on a panel like this. The Kharkiv guest pushing back so hard on the idea that Ukraine didn’t defend itself properly against the most recent Russian onslaught by suggesting they wouldn’t be able to make a defensive line to slow the Russians down or stop them….. maybe not, but it seems like the Russians had little trouble coming over the border recently. Compare that to the Russian defensive lines which were three layers thick and built over a long period of time with a ton of effort and energy….. it stopped the ukranian offensive, obviously solid defensive lines slow or stop an offensive. But he was so insulted at the idea the Ukrainian military may have have a fault and kept pushing back and back and back without really any strong evidence other than “I’m near the front line”

I totally disagree with the Ukrainian panelists. I am absolutely sure that the Russians will definitely capture Kharkiv if they believe it will give them strategic advantage at this point. However well fortified it is, since they outnumber Ukrainians and have more ammunitions at this moment, they are shaping the battlefield and making incredible advances. Therefore, as the frontlines are crumbling continuously, they can easily encircle the well fortified Ukrainian position everywhere. Then, the Ukrainians are going to retreat as that is the only they will have. Basically, it is a war of attrition. Unless there will be a peaceful settlement, the Russians will continue their advances forward to the point they consider it necessary to create a buffer zone. May God make peace upon the volatile region! 🙏

Villages cannot be seized, even though the so-called “game changers” like himars, leopards, challengers, storm shadows, Bradly, and so on are available. The current lame explanation is "delivery of ammunition." Does the ground game resemble a frog submerged in frigid water?

Putin says a Big Thank You to Trump and his Republican cult in the US Congress for stalling 6 months on passing the Ukrainian Aid Package, thus giving enough time to the Russians to make major advances along the entire front. Never would have happened if it was originally approved when presented.

So why can't Ukraine accept the Russians proposal to saved lives and the souls of their people instead of following western world and the Americans bcos i see both Russians and Ukrainians as one people with same language, why them can't solved this problem and stopped interfering Americans and Europeans 😭 or are they doing this to reduce world population 😭
