Just wanted to say thank you that the video is in english so that us germans can also understand it.
I can't decide if that is a joke about Austrians speaking a different German than Germany or a joke about ethnic Germans using barbaric British-speak instead of superior Deutsch. Either way, good joke!
@@genericpersonx333 It's the former. The austrians have lovely dialects that are sometimes hard to understand for many germans.
@@Hennue Ha! Just imagine many of your countrymen speaking a language not even in the Indo-European family. Basque language is so different that not even all the Basque persons speak it. It's so unique that the US Army (or Marine Corps, don't remember) used Basque soldiers as radio operators to add a further layer of difficulty to the Japanese decoders.
Austrian dialects might be a prize compared to Basque.
@@Hennue Haha! I knew it!
I love how dialects can make life "interesting" for people in ways they never expected.
My Father was an American engineer who wanted to learn German as a teenager so he could read German scientific papers. He found an excellent "German teacher from Germany who spoke German." Dad soon spoke "perfect German" with a "perfect accent."
Fast-forward a few years: Vater is invited to a German university to do lectures on engineering in Muenchen. He has a great time, especially in the beer halls after lectures. All the "Germans" congratulate him on his superb German and accent.
Well, on his way home, Dad has to go through a northern German city and wait a time there. As he is waiting, he speaks his "perfect German with perfect accent" to the locals and they immediately start mocking and insulting him for being a loser from Bayern who can't speak right!
Apparently, Dad's "German-language teacher born in Germany" was actually a Bavarian born in Bavaria who taught perfect Bavarian, and so Dad's "perfect German" was actually "perfect Bavarian."
@@caniconcananas7687 I recall that Americans used Navajo as radiomen in WW2, but maybe they've switched to Basque in case the Ruskies caught on in the meantime.
I'm on another tab and I can still feel him looking at me
😂
That is an intense stare 👀
He needs a monocle 🧐
He is judging you because you parked your car in front of your house instead of inside the garage, thereby making it easy for the enemy to hit you with FPV drones and guided artillery.
Colonel Reisner has been very generous with his English-language content a great resource in understanding the war. Thanks for interviewing him!
I’ve been watching Col. Reisner’s CZcams channel videos since the Ukraine war began . They are outstanding, no nonsense, from a professional and rigorously nonpartisan perspective.
rigorously nonpartisan perspective with a strong bias towards Ukrainen Victory

@@doniehurley9396Like any normal human being, he wants Ukraine to overcome the Russian aggression. Beyond that, he does report and analyses the situation from a logical, fact based perspective.
Actually he has been pretty realistic on Ukraine's capabilities. He doesn't overinflate them like so many other military analysis does that paint a false picture of the war.
@@cmanlovespancakesand he’s either to dumb or to brainwashed to see the glaring problem of major industry being gutted in the west. Any talk about going against Russia is hot air until they dare to look inward
@@doniehurley9396 You people shilled his videos when it was 2022 and he was mentioning all the possible encirclements that never ended up materializing.
The man; the legend; Col. Markus Reisner!
no longer a myth! /s
Haha what war he is participated???He dont know where is his ass and where he is his head..
German legends? The last ones are in WW2. Today turkland... sorry i mean germanistan... sorry again. Pathetic.
legendary false , yes!
I think that Col. Reisner is correct about current changes being revolutionary rather than evolutionary. When you see what aerial and naval drones are capable of, you see just how vulnerable multi-million (or in the case of capital ships multi-billion) dollar weapons systems are to asymmetric threats. All the jokes people made about the US military being beaten by "men in sandals with Kalashnikovs" are now being amplified on conventional battlefields as well. This isn't yet an issue at a strategic or geostrategic level (you can't win a nuclear war or Battle of Midway 2.0 with these new assets likes drones or robots), but it is having a huge effect operationally and tactically. Ukraine had major successes in 2022 using drones, and Russia's seemingly slow advance in Khakiv Oblast recently obscures how many Ukrainian artillery assets Lancet drones are taking out quite a few kilometers from the main line of resistance.
until lasers AD and EW catches up with drone comms and makes it impossible to communicate with the drone remotely thus making 99% of small drones worthless..
@@freedomordeath89 Yes, but that would still be part of the revolution, even if it did negate drones in many situations as tanks and combined arms negated trenches in many 1918 situations.
Ironically multi-million dollar systems are likely needed to counter this new development with C-UAS systems needing to be advanced radar, sensor, and targeting wise and have potentially budget breaking technology like directed energy installed in order to bring the attrition rate to a reasonable level. We will most likely see high value weapons used to break these C-UAS systems so that the cheap drones can exploit the permissive air environment.
@@freedomordeath89 EW systems able to jam well designed communications systems are probably quite powerful emitters. Which you can home in on with standoff weapons that don't require communications. AD system that have radars are also detectable and RDFable, so the enemy knows exactly where your high value targets are without any drones.
i do fear drones being used by non-miltary miltant "groups" - the vulnerability of civilian infrastructure may be/become not controllable + the "elites" may be exposed to this threats ... as ordinary collateral-damage-humans
Amazing having Col. Reisner on, love his presentations
Sorry, but before this I'd never heard of him.

The Cross-over we all hoped for!
Two of the most informative Austrian persons in the same video?!
Thanks a lot.
I thought he was German!
Thanks for taking the time to present this in English. It's very hard to get such a professional and unbiased analysis of what is going on in the mainstream English speaking media.
Very interesting, thanks for that.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I remember watching Col Reisner every time he put up a video during the last few years. And I was actually wondering why I hadn't seen something recently. It's nice to see this collaboration, your interview of him. I respect this man and his analysis greatly, I hope to see more videos from him again. Thanks for this
COME ON!!!! You brought Colonel Doctor Markus Reisner to your channel! You are a legend!
no spin just the way it is as much as he is able to tell us. I bet he is pretty busy at his day job too. thank you Colonel.
I'm very glad to see Col. Reisner with you; his English presentations are always very interesting and I appreciate both him for making them and you for all your efforts.
I think, Col. Reisner, is near spot on here. A great analysis.
Big difference listening to an actual Military Intel Analyst rather than the typical CZcams amateur.
Watch the ex US intelligence officers on Judge Napolitano - Judging Freedom.

Looks like a Russian show to me. They platform the putin-worshipper John Mearsheimer, an evil marxist who worked for the KGB in the 1980s and then couldn't back out.
Actually, the most amazing thing is that most of those "experts" are not at all better in judgement compared to the amateurs. It's like pandemia again.
Most people will believe something said confidently and presented well as long as it sounds about right. You get many midwits chasing the algorithim, that had channels covering all kinds of things moving to cover this war. I once clicked a video from a multi-million view channel, I left after hearing France surrendered in WW1, but had several hundred battleships at the end of the Cold War.
Danke an Sie beide für dieses gemeinsame Video - eine einzigartige Kooperation - bin ein Fan von Ihnen beiden - würde mich sehr über eine Fortsetzung freuen
Very nice collab!
3:02 you need some kind of secret weapon.
The Turtle Tank just entered the chat.
Quite a scoop. Getting this chap, well done sir,no staging was something we did in the eighties instead we did infiltration, which involved moving into the forward edge of the battle area as platoons on foot from at least 15 miles away rather than larger formations in vehicles (battle taxis)we would then occupy patrol harbours and from there begin recce,s and fighting patrols mission command tactics were essential for this, which the Russians do not do(I doubt the Ukrainians do either)great vid,all the best from sunny troon 😊
Well actualy that is very much what they are doing. Russians even use now bikes ans golf carts to close distance quickly because you get spotted by drones which are armed plus drones allert command centers so even in minutes artillery strikes are possible.
This is why now advance is easier trough urban enviroment while attack in open field is almost impossible.
Good luck trying to march 15 miles undefr today's conditions. That much time in the open will almost guarantee something spots you and you come under fire.
The colonel has been pretty realistic about Ukraine's abilities in his previous analysis he posts on youtube. He doesn't overinflate their capabilities and gives real expectations without all the propaganda. He is refreshing to listen too compared to so many paid military experts that just repeat what they are rold to say.
It is very annoying to watch this "game changer ghost of kiev" hype propaganda even if it is alligned whit my own bias. That is basicly "the news" here in Finland.
Fantastic, thanks! I have been following you for a while now Bernard and it is great to see you in a position to interview/collab with some of these great sources/creators.
Wow! This is a special episode!
More cooperation videos with Dr.Col.Reisner, please, Bernhard!
Dr.Col.Reisner has already put several extremely informative videos about recent developments and the war in Ukraine up in the past, and I think that the two of you give a refreshing insight into the developments in both modern warfare and the current war in Ukraine.
Colonel Reiser is great! I always enjoy his analyses - and not to forget his book on the Battle of Vienna in 1945. Excellent! 👍
I miss the Colonel’s videos, which have become quite rare.
I guess someone started to get angry with his analytics and asked him to chill.
@@Corvusdotensishe took on more responsibilities in our Army which leaves him less time. And he's also now a regular guest on German mainstream TV! If you google his name, you should find those, you could use auto translate if you don't speak German.
I guess he figures that since he's now regularly on TV which is also uploaded to YT, why do his own uploads (where he would say the same things) when he's short on time anyway.
I've been looking forward to this combination, great interview!

Congrats for the Interview! One the best guests so far!
Great guest, thank you Bernard.
One the best analysis of the evolution of warfare during the russo-ukraine war. Yet Col. Reisner is one of the few to publicly say the obvious, the Kherson Victory was a arrangement, I'm not saying that Ukraine was unable to win, eventually it could win that battle. But the particular series of steps that unfolded on 2022 were part of a bigger negotiated arrangement.
Fantasic, one of the very few sources I trust for information about that conflict.
Bernhard, nice work getting fellow Austrian Oberst Eisner. Excellent.
Its fresh seeing a military official acknowledge that the counter offensive failed or that it even ended at all. Kuddos.
I really look forward to these videos.

Congratulations. this proves the quality of this channel. Col Reisner is as far as i know choosing very well to whom he talks!

Issue is that your friend today can be your enemy tomorrow, and for reasons that don't have to make any sense except to the people who are making the decisions.
Germany was actually very friendly to Belgium in 1914, with cultural, economic, and even military connections. It didn't stop the German Army from determining that operational convenience in a war with France was more important than preserving the good relations between Germany and Belgium. End result: Germans occupy 90% of the country for several years.
@@genericpersonx333 So you're saying Switzerland should per-emtively attack its neighbours? I like it.

Good briefing
This was an interesting discussion. Particularly the impact of drones on the battlefield is given a full and frank discussion from Col. Reisner. Col. Reisner mentions the St. Lo battle which was a break-through enabled by a heavy aerial bombardment: the same tactic was used at Caen (perhaps an even more heavy bombardment there) with a break-in but not a break-through. The parts need to all work together well, and often luck plays a role, so even once Ukraine has a strengthened air force it will take some time and luck for results to flow from that.
Not so bad if You don’t need to travel too far this time for an interesting talk ;) We really live today in dangerously dynamic times in every point of view. And many people are now aware of it, but choose to ignore it…
WOW COOL!
Reisner is the best 👍
Finally an update from colonel but in an unexpected place
War at the end boils down to numbers.
We will probably see fleets of drones fighting drones very soon.
Conventional assets will be more tactically important than before, perhaps protected by its own swarm of drones from a drone carrier vehicle.
There’s gonna be a new micro-tactical plain of drone operation, perhaps each frontline soldier will commander his own drone fleet.
Eventually the drones can be even 3D printed and assembled at the frontline according to changing needs.
And we end up with Total Annihilation!
Dr. Colonel Reisner. Doctor of Coloneling.

that was great, glad I caught this short vid.
yes we can expect surprises in the ongoing and coming wars.
History is being written in several places as new wars develop or continue and escalate to bigger and Badder.
Will this all lead to some nuke weaps getting used? Will they let the Gennie out of the bottle.
Lessons learn’t? Don’t poke the Bear!
Very good video. Personally, I find this topic very interesting. I also follow Colonel Reisner on CZcams and I like his videos. My question regarding drones is, can they be disrupted with jamming? Additionally, I find it unfortunate that the debate on combat drones is still being avoided in Germany, as I believe they will become an indispensable tool in future conflicts."

Drone detection using a pi, a research paper done at the University of Texas. I believe the white paper is titled Drone chase. Or it might not be a white paper I might just be a research paper, either way, Col Reisner might be interested in reading that
