RIP The Nashville Network!!
Can't have cool stuff like that here in the 21st century...
9.6 compression Chevy vs. 9.0 Ford
2.02 valves vs 1.92 valves
Single plane intake on the Ford kills hp on a mild setup dual plane on the Chevy= more torque
The cam seemed like it was hotter on the Chevy roller vs. flat tappet Ford
Close but not exactly even
I am assuming they installed the LT1 and LT4 "Hot Cam" upgrade. The specs are 218/228 @ .50, .525 lift, and a 112 LSA. This is a much smaller cam than on the 351. I did not think the Chevy would have a chance in the HP department considering that the Ford had single plane intake and a larger cam. I have seen 351s make LS type power, easy. BTW, the Chevy head had a 2" intake valve.
Why would you upgrade the cam on the Chevy but run the original Ford cam? Sounds like this test is rigged in Chevy's favor! This was supposed to be a test of who provided the most power but you upgraded one engine and didn't upgrade the other. Comments were even made about "the hot cam" in the Chevy. Why would you not do an even test? Unless you were wanting one brand to "appear" to win over the other!
Just like when they ( Power Nation I believe ) did a 460 vs 454 and only put mild upgrades on the 460 but went all out on the 454.
Only way Chevy makes more is to rig the numbers with better parts
@chuckfowler4754 Right or otherwise Ford would demolished Chevy just like they already demolished the big block V8s with its almighty 427 SOHC 2V Cammer V8.
The hotcam was an option on the ZZ5 right from GM. A better question would be why doesn't Ford offer something similar?
@@johncoleman2495 They do offer ford racing cams.
Wow these are some old shows. I remember watching this on tv many many years ago
That is why I got both. Cant get me to no one's side on this one lol.
Love them shoe box cars. 😁😎
Same here mate
I've heard a lot of Dino pull's, and these were beyond the worst sounding by far.
i agree, rruuh, rruh, rrughh..lol
Winsor or Windsor?
Looks like the Chevrolet is a L31 1053 forged crankshaft Mahle Pistons Pm connecting rods
Typical Ford vs Chevy test....use a lesser built Ford to begin with and upgrade the Chevy on top of that. I can't imagine which engine will make more power. 🤣🤣
The cam and heads for the Chevy made the difference.
These guys are GM biased .
@@dalemckenzie2279 They sure are
Joe Elmore owns at least one mustang. But yeah most of their stuff is gm related. I'll stick to my cummins with the manual 6 speed transmission (408 C.I.D./G56)
I loved this show, and trucks car and driver and American shooter when I was a kid good times I miss the TNN network the good ol days
Great classic episode
Unless it was just the audio but it sounds like Both of those engines needed serious timing adjustments!😬
They both sounded like stuck pigs!
The Chevy fell on it's face, I'd bet that engine could get "close" to 500hp with proper tuning.
And the Ford was all over the place it didn't know what the "F" to do!
Both of those motors did not get to show thier full potential.🤔🤷
That last comment there at the end tells you all you need to know about the tv shows always helping the Chevies..lol
What a far cry from this to the dyno cell Pat and Frankie use on Engine Power
All that's left to decide is which motor company you trust; Ford or GM!
Is this a repost?
Fixed the audio? Didn't notice any audio issues.
Engine masters has answered all these questions already
These guys did it waay before Engine Masters was a thing..lol
Ford intrduced the smallblock in 1962 in the Fairlane, not 1963
knowing Ferd it was 1962 1/2
@@yurimodin7333 nope, was first introduced in the 1962 Fairlane
@@krislinder7460 bro it was a joke about Fords half-years.
@@yurimodin7333 Chevy does it too. but are low key about it and usually with trucks. You'll go to get something like brake pads and find out you need them for a year newer which had different brakes than your year
@@krislinder7460 i used to work at a parts store, the only thing worse than a ford is a mazda
Engines are not built to exact specs this comparison makes no sense Roller vs Flat tappet along with different compression ratios
Not really an equal test. Chevy had the advantage in every way, roller cam vs non roller, better heads against lesser heads. Not an equal test! You guy’s do this mistake a lot.
They do it on purpose..
The 3 angle valve job is in the seat. Maybe you're thinking of a back cut.
I skipped back. I think he made it.
Just go with the sb chevy ! It has a better hp to torque curve ! Its stronger and simpler also parts are lower cost and more standerdized ! Win win
I miss these to guys they built really hotrods an made it pretty simple. Not like these newer guys on the show now. Build new cars an explain ever single little detail shows just ain't as good as they use to be with the old school hotroders.
Can we get a TV app channel for the show?
PowerNation app on the App Store
340 Mopar would have won without the "hot cam " cheat Chebbie paid ya'll for the test.
chryslers are garbage dude
@toddbob55 What makes a 340 garbage? Leaving a pointless comment then liking it is typical Gen Z bullshit
Don't give the engine time to warm up? That can make a difference
Use a 302. Boss
boat anchor competition
340 Mopar
ahahaahaah Dodge junk
The Mexican Pachucos with their Zoot suits used to torch them old skool car's suspension to create the first Lowriders but eventually would install hydraulics on them to raise them back to stock ride height when police started targeting them, like always..lol God bless them for setting the trends..
as usual, less aggressive parts on the ford to give the chevy edge. smaller valves, less compression, no roller cam… 🤦🏻♂️
Damn showing no love to the Mopar family out here:(
The Chevy engine sounded like it was running like shit
Sounded like the throttle was being used to create higher peaks.
Of course, no mopar 360 for comparison. Thumbs down. Nothing is done fairly on tv. One is always favorite
This episode is old as fuhk I'm dropping my full roller fully forged sbc 383 stroker into my 1972 Chevrolet Nova check my videos out I'll be uploading later on today!!!!!!
They don't even have a show no more I don't know why they're still advertising and it wasn't all that hot when they had it
Thay used a low compression piston on ford 9 to 1 and 4v piston on chevy chevy engine got slightly better parts
They bought crate engines with available packages.... crate engines....Chevy just built a better one😂
I don’t think that dyno is accurate
Not right
This episode has to be close to 20 years old…
it is, much older actually..lol
And 327 canl back
the windsor is shit why didn't they do a cleveland
Actually guys their can only be one winner.
And that was the Chevy :)
How many chevy engines have been poked into fords.. vs how many ford engines have been poked into chevies? Hmmm
Yeah your right but we have a third gen cameros we are seriously thinking about the new 5 liter coyote to go in the bay
Chevy always and forever on top🎉🎉🎉
Chevy all day!!
Man Chevy is the best motor ever made! It's settled.. a Chevy has never lost a shootout on this show... but.. the specs are never the same either...
😂😂😂
I have a 306 ci that will smoke that Chevy. I call my '97 Stang Frankenstein.
Chevrolet 350 5.7
