The Bucks I can take or leave. There has been pretty long periods in AEW when they've done nothing and I didn't really notice their absence. Losing Kenny would really suck since I really did feel the void he left when he was out with his injuries. I want Hangman to stay since I think he's the guy who can carry the company into the future.
But I will keep watching AEW even if it loses all those guys. There is still a ton of stars (present and future) who can carry the company.

I'm not going to say this is the beginning of the end of AEW. If TNA is still surviving after almost 20 years of bad decisions, a clueless boss and never getting out of first gear, then AEW should be able to survive some backstage drama. This event did shake my confidence in AEW, though. I really hope this was a wake up call to Tony Khan and he finally decides to put his foot down and get control of the bigger egos in his company.

AEW created an atmosphere of "shooting". That was a mistake from day one, but lots of fans liked it. They liked it when Jericho talked about bad creative after fans chanted We The People. Fans liked it when Punk and MJF took shots at Miz. Now when Punk continues that unprofessional nonsense by calling out The Bucks, mocking PWG and Hangman Page those same fans get all upset. The "shooting" never should have been a part of AEW's dna. It was always going to go badly. Punk was right about a lot of what he said. The way he said it and where he said it were totally out of place and insubordinate. Looking at AEW's brief history, why wouldn't he feel comfortable doing what he did? I'm not taking any sides in this situation whatsoever. Everybody was in the wrong (Punk, Hangman, The Elite, Ace, and TK)
Hangman is wrong for going into business for himself and basically opened pandora's box to this entire situation
Ace is wrong for basically throwing the chair at Nick that could've killed him and biting Omega
The Elite is wrong for having the altercation with Punk and possibly leaking info that accused Punk of something he more than likely didn't commit whatsoever
Punk is wrong for his rant in the media scrum (justified or Unjustified) that embarrassed the company all because of his inability to let go of grudges (punk should consider taking anger management) and having the altercation with the elite
And TK is wrong for letting this entire Punk/Elite Situation get as far as it did
Nobody looks good in this situation whatsoever. I would/will continue to watch AEW with or without Punk or The Elite. Just like how I watched New Japan with or without the elite. And how I watched WWE at the time without Punk. Wrestling and life goes on with or without them. Punk said it best He’s just a spoke in the wheel and just like the Elite are a spoke in the wheel. Overall I just hope all of them can crush it and continue working harmoniously. This isn’t the first time wrestling drama has happened and won’t be the last. So in the meantime we just watch the product, the wrestlers who ARE there and busting their asses. Sidenote: this isn’t just regarding Punk but I hate the whole injury prone jokes when it comes to wrestlers cause a majority say they understand wrestling is hard on the body but then make fun of these guys when they get injured or when it’s hard on their bodies. Maybe it’s just something in wrestling culture that’s just dumb/counter productive on these guys not feeling pressured to go out there even though their bodies are in shambles which makes me think of Kenny Omega and even Jon Moxley who’s carrying the company now.

Punk hasn’t defended his 2 reigns because of injury And on that alone he should be choosing the elite over punk for the long term but nope. Tony has a lot of maturing to do and he wants to be like Vince or hunter so bad. He needs to let somebody else run the day to day and booking and just generally oversea things. And stop sitting in those pressers. Kenny, Jericho, mox, danielson and cole should be playing hot potato with the title for a few years using those reigns to brings guys like Sammy, mjf, jungle boy etc. up to a main even level.

Omega literally did a shoot promo on Will after an AEW show went off air, said in it it wont get released and it got released on CZcams anyway. Will posted after that, that he will never ever wants to do anything again with AEW, while Omega is there. Now Omega took his title in Japan with promos that literally buried Will, so i think Will is genuently pissed about it. Let's see at the next Forbidden Door if Ospreay will show up. If he doesn't it is kinda confirmed, that this was no work.
Also before the CM Punk media scrum, the Elite literally buried people left right and center. Now they are jobbing to literally everyone. Feels like either they are getting punished, or they feel guilty for pushing AEWs biggest draw away.

I do not see how Addam went into business for himself. Punk however did go into business for himself twice. The thing about Punk is that the WWE did not want to work with Punk. From what I get, Punk should never get to be the champion or the center of any company. Once he gets to be champion he starts claiming he is hurt, does not want to work and wants to be seen as the best of all time without working for it. WWE made Punk popular, Vince wrote the Pipebomb that made Punk famous. AEW was far from perfect before all this... there were fantastic moments & at times the trajectory felt like it was going up, Up, UP! ... but this didn't just happen overnight, it's been building since the start. Tony's lack of firm leadership & unwillingness to delegate to experienced employees (Arn, JR, Malenko, Regal, etc..) combined with the complete inability from anyone in the company or it's die hard fans to take even the SLIGHTEST bit of CONSTRUCTIVE criticism directly lead to this situation.
I want AEW to succeed, the more profitable wrestling companies there are, the better it is for ALL talent
But Tony NEEDS to delegate more, not only in talent relations, but booking in general. He's SO erratic with everything

  • @TitoMcFadden
    @TitoMcFadden Před rokem +5

Very insightful take on the situation. I would agree with your assessment completely but it seems that there is an element of this situation that you have not considered. The business standpoint.
If they were all just contractors hired by AEW then it would be simple. Punk would for sure be the problem. But that's not the case. The Elite (not including Hangman) are EVPs of AEW. They are executive officers of the corporation that Punk works for. Imagine if your bosses were hostile towards you, possibly spread rumors to hurt your reputation despite you being their best employee, and then got into a fist fight with you when you got fed up and responded to the rumors and hostility. It's a whole different scenario there because of one thing: Power. The power dynamic is not equal. The Elite NEVER should have stormed the locker room. No matter what. It was a stupid move. They should have handled it with Tony like actual managing officers. If they were publicly traded and I was a shareholder, I would have sold every share I owned after hearing about executives getting into brawls with top earners. That is inexcusable and intolerable behavior for someone with that much power in a corporation. So if you want to talk about worker's rights, consider that aspect.
So while I agree that it's probably best to let Punk go because his presence is a net negative at this point, I also argu that The Bucks and Omega MUST get relieved from their Executive Vice President roles. Whether they leaked the Colt Cabana stuff to the press or not, the fact that they conducted themselves so unprofessionally in retaliation to Punk's unprofessionalism just shows that they have no business holding such authority over their peers. Plus it's just a terrible look for the company. Companies have canceled investments, sponsorships, endorsements, and ad campaigns for much less. Keeping them as EVPs hurts business as well. I'm not saying fire them. I'm saying they shouldn't be executives anymore.

    • @SomePotato

@@SomePotato It doesn't matter what happened inside that locker room. • @SomePotato

@@SomePotato They certainly weren't marching over there for a friendly conversation. If they waited until after the press conference to talk to Tony about how to handle it, they could have dealt with Punk without a fight and without making the company look worse. If they were just wrestlers like everyone else, then I'd have no problem with any of it. Let the boys handle their own business. This is different and it's solely because of their roles in the company. Keeping them as EVPs basically tells everyone in the company that they're untouchable. It's a terrible look for the company as a whole.
