It was blue smoke as he accelerated, aka burning oil. So it was unrelated to the water.

Wow, that last Lexus was truly rubbish.
I think these car owners forget that their vehicles front and rear bumpers skirts spoilers etc are just floppy plastic panels designed for lightness not strength and are often just held on with plastic lug nuts and breakable fixings,.

That last clip with the Lexus was fine. That age/engine all smoke like that, like they are about to die in the next few miles. Seen loads blowin blue smoke!

Halfway through the video and I’ve only seen 1 vehicle properly equipped to go through this. The tall Range Rover with a snorkel kit
Any one of those vehicles in this video are capable of making it through with no issues. For some reason, people thing speed is the answer. Nice and slow, little bow wave and all should be well

Don't need to be properly equipped. Just a brain with some sense will do. But just because people are there with cameras. People will drive through as fast as possible trying to make a wave, but it doesn't work and at that moment, that is when they've realised they fucked up.

Looking on Maps and found the Rufford Mill Ford. After a whole minute looking for an alternative route, I can only conclude the people who choose to use Ruffford Lane have no reason other than a misguided sense of adventure for choosing to drive through this ford. Taking a "shortcut " that saves you one minute of driving time at best at the risk of destroying your car seems like a really stupid life choice. Go up to Station Road and come back down Wellow Road.

its called a ford, theres several across the uk and it literally a stream which has had a road built in it, the depths are generally quite low, usually no more then a foot deep, ofcourse like all streams, the more it rains the deeper it get(obvious i know)
this one gets to 4 foot easy, maybe deeper i dont know

Never realised how dangerous this ford is to cars, I've been through a few times and got away with it but just being sensible doesn't always seem to save you from ruining your car.

Some cars must be more susceptible than others. That last Lexus and a few others really look like they've got it right, yet still f*ck up. The Tesla's seem to be able to fire through at higher speeds too.

The large white van wouldn't have engine damage , it's a turbo diesel with an intercooler . Once the air box is flooded it chokes off air supply and stalls the engine. Empty the air box and dry the filter out .
How does that make sense?
If the engine is running, and sucks water in (an internal combustion engine is just a pump after all)
then it can get hydrolocked and bend con rods, snap cranks etc etc
@@bushratbeachbum the air filter will allow air through easily but not water. Considering the van in question it's a turbo diesel with an inter cooler. The route the air takes to get into the engine is long and torturous. From the filter through piping to the turbo, from the turbo to the inter cooler and then to the intake manifold. On it's way the piping goes up and down around the engine bay so no water would get to the cylinders.

@@bushratbeachbum as I said if you watch all these videos once the initial bow wave goes over the bonnet the engine stalls . If you drive a car or van you know how easy it is to stall them , not enough fuel or air and it stops working.

It simply has to do with the knowledge on how works a traditional car.
The problem here, is to understand how higher above the water the air intake is in your motor, and adapt the right speed to make sure that your air i take will not be drowned.
Tesla will always go through, because no air intake is necessary to make work an electric motor.
A repair van should just park there they would get loads of money 🤣🤣

Wouldn't water go in the exhaust? Would it get into engine that way?
