The detour is less than 5 miles.
With the cost of damage to their cars it might actually be cheaper to turn round, drive to Heathrow, fly to Nottingham and then get a taxi to their destination.

Honestly, if your that thick to drive through there in the first place, you deserve everything you get. Hopefully their insurance will be null and void so as not to add extra to our premiums.

Reving the engine to clear it is a way to bend the piston rods, not to mention that mondern cars have computers that may corrode out later after being submerged
It never fails to amaze me how many people don't understand how engines work. It's not like it's hard for goodness sake!

Watching these people voluntarily destroying mostly very nice vehicles is startling.
The water is CLEARLY deep.
You can tell that at a glance.
This isn't some deceivingly deep puddle.
It's a pond.
I think I'd rather let my car live the rest of it's life as a boat, than have it pulled by it's pillars.
It's not like bent pillars are going to adversely affect the remaining value of his car.
Why not, the car has survived it anyway, the drying, probable engine damage.... exceeds the value of the vehicle anyway.
Once the water has gone past the air filter it's too late, drying the air filter out won't help, the damage is done.The water is physically stopping the engine from turning over. Attempting to start just wrecks things even more....at least they're keeping the local garages busy 🤣

I used to drive taxis and got stuck once right in middle engine stopped the lot. I panicked opened the door and water came flooding in so closed it said a prayer and started the engine . It started and I put it in 2nd gear and we drove out . I drove all way to Newark the car intact . Things could have been alot worse especially when I rented the car from the taxi company lol 😆

Man its cold at the moment. Proper dangerous to mess around now. I watch all of these and before never cared! But people will end up in a bad way up to waist in freezing water.
Does it say how deep the water is? Pretty easy to just misjudge it unless there were signs, I was out for a walk once and there was a really flooded bit of road. I got a long stick and used it to probe how deep it was for a car trying to cross, it was just under 2 feet so he made it but it could have been 1 foot or could have been 4, really hard to tell.
You can literally see a depth gauge in the middle of it…….
i don't understand what people expect there to happen? i get those locals with old bangers who do it for entertainment, but people who try to go thru with expensive cars or work vans, just WHY? anyone with common sense would realize that 99% of stock vehicles won't make it thru cuz engine will hydrolock.
and second dumb thing, if you absolutely HAVE to give it a try, just go backwards and with bit more speed .. there's a good chance that water won't reach the air intake if you go backwards and faster.

Imagine not knowing how a car’s engine works, driving through this, your engine gets hydrolocked, you get towed out & thinking the worst of it is over with.

You can see this car just went through the water got his headlights on under the water I've learned from watching things on CZcams and only takes one to two feet of water to float a car away you can see his car's floating there.

I'm so conflicted by these videos, can't help but watch whilst at the same time thinking what a massive 🔔end the camera man and everyone standing round watching are. They could be genuinely helpful and kind and prevent these poor people from huge bills and a ruined car but instead choose to just watch.
