So in this video I had a 2008 GMC Sierra and will also be the same as the Chevy Silverado My stability track light was on and I found out that my brake lights were staying on too long. So it would cause the Stabilitrak Light to come on in the dash. And the cruise control would not work This video is more of an explanation on what you’re looking for and how to change the brake pedal switch it’s a pretty simple straightforward repair if you get your hand underneath there and wiggle it in your brake lights go on and off, (Because they were staying on all the time) this is probably your problem I apologize I could not hold the phone and make a video of me removing the component but I think my explanation is ok . Wheel speed sensor seems to be my problem also I own a 2010 Chevrolet Impala LT and constantly getting the Stabilitrac error along with a few other errors I can't recall at the moment.
On my '11 Silverado it was the brake light switch. Dash was lit up like a Christmas tree, wouldn't go into gear and my mechanic told me that when I did manage to get it in gear that cruise control wouldn't have worked. I was thinking it was gonna be a wheel speed sensor.
On a side note it crazy how much all that traction control, Stabilitrac and any other so called nanny features affect us. I spun out on a slightly damp road and went in the ditch when that switch went out.

had some problems with the cruise control not working right .and abs light and traction control light was coming on and off on my 2010 chevy .when lights were on the 4 wheel drive would not work so i changed the brake light switch like you should and every thing works great thanks for the info and video
Thanks for the great video Clay. It really sheds some light on my problems with my 2008 Chev. Equinox. I plug in my Actron scan tool and never see any fault codes when the stabilitrac light comes on. Do you think this brake light switch could be my problem also? What about the steering wheel sensor, as I have also seen video's about Chevy having problems with these also? 2012 Acadia w/approx 85K mi well maintained has recently been shifting into 4wd on the fly and randomly. Brought it into one of the few remaining Sears Auto Centers few mos ago where they
changed the tranny fluid w/out disturbing filter/pan. Noticeable downshift and Traction Control Off, Service Stabilitrak, Service Traction Control and Engine Power is Reduced msgs come on as result.

Thanks for the video Clay. I didn't complete the video and the brake pedal sensor was not the issue although it led me to my specific issue. Since I went to check the brake lights it led me to my issue. My issues were first start up of the morning the service stabilitrack would come on after about 500' out of the driveway and stay on until I turn the van off, Oh (2012 express 2500) and not any other times. I had this issue for about the last month. I also noticed in this time my right turn signal had an increased rate of operation. I found upon checking the brake lights that my rear left turn signal was out. Replaced and solved my issue.

I told her it sounds like traction control or maybe a differential problem..
Took my camera phone under her car looking for worn extremely rusty cracked or broken problems around the wheels
Her brake fluid was low
We filled it before checking under the SUV
I totally know the video we just watched has to with his brakes, the brake pedal doesn't have enough pressure in the brake lines I think it was my old jeep with was a master cylinder problem years ago THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAYED ON EVEN WHEN PARKED...
it might have air in it or leaking...
but with my mom's Chevy Suburban
I looked around underneath of it around the front wheels and a bolt was totally broke underneath
The bushing and bolt broke off,
It appeared supposed to be connected to the frame underneath closest to the ground..
I don't know what she ran over...
But I said that's probably why..And told her to show the video to the mechanic..
The next day, a GM mechanic (GOODYEAR MECHANIC) said that was probably why the brakes squealed,
she had been bringing it in her car asking why her brakes squealed at least twice before he said brake dust, today he said because the bolt was broken and it swayed so much, that pressure like the car leaning so much caused the brakes to loose fluid and also SQUEAL...
AND HE CHARGED TO PUT IN NEW STABILITRAK SENSOR
Yes he said he did put in a new sensor..
I SAID WHAT A NON WORKING BROKE SENSOR
So today I started making a CZcams video since he charged to fix it and charged for a " new sensor"
I told my mom, I didn't think anything was wrong with her old sensor,
since that sensor let her know there was a serious problem, it even shut off her car when going down a hill with a curve at the buttom...
So I guess the GM GOODYEAR mechanic just reset the sensor
THEY JUST TELL THE COMPUTER TO IGNORE THE PROBLEM..
it's like that it even computer systems, they will run with a problem not being repaired at all, they just tell it to ignore that problem,
IT MIGHT COME BACK ON LATER...
But nothing appeared repaired
It was fall break she had been driving the kids around WINTER IS COMING AND WELL HE CHARGED TO FIX IT
YET DID NOT

@dave not the 2nd I have no idea about big O , Well first off there is a dozen different things with your description please do not make any CZcams videos you were absolutely incorrect they cannot tell the computer to ignore something without paying $100 and having a tech to or maybe like an HP tuner . Or several other types of scanning devices that allow you to reprogram the ECM port to do that. (I will point out they can clear codes but they will come back within fivekey cycles) this is why I ask you not to make any CZcams videos because of what you said.
I’m not trying to sound like a jerk. And if you would’ve sent me this message privately I would pretty much say the same thing and I would describe you what is wrong with all of your statements.
I will however take in consideration that you are correct on a couple of different things but for the most part some of your statements make no sense.
If you do choose to make a CZcams video, you do sound like the type of person that may inform yourself on both sides of the matter before doing that. Most mechanics make determinations based off of what the customer is telling them. And what the customer is willing to pay. If a customer walks into a store and says he can you take a look at my vehicle I’m happy to pay what it cost. More than likely they will do a thorough job
If a customer comes in and ask how much does it cost to take a look at my vehicle. Most shops are going to see an hours worth of labor time . and they may find several things wrong and then tell the customer from the most important to the least important things to repair first. (In the situation they’re trying to be compassionate about the customers pocketbook not because they don’t want to do the work they just want their prices to be reasonable )
I am definitely not trying to throw shade at you. And I recommend you take your vehicle to another shop

Well I cant remember exactly because it was a couple of years ago, but as I was in the car waiting for my daughter to come out of a building, I CZcamsd it and up came clays vid about my Chevy, and just like that even I could do it. I think it was a fuse, or something small like that. Saved me a ton. Can't thank him enough.

I have a 2006 Denali that this light comes on almost half the time i leave the house and it will go off after i turn the car off and back on i wander if its the light or the car.
Would this include 2008 Suburban?
I have a 2011 Buick Regal. Oddly, about the only time this Stabilitrak warning appears on my screen is when I'm leaving our local Walmart. There is about a 2 block drive from the parking area to the main road, with a stop sign in between. The warning goes off about the same place every time, yet rarely anywhere else. I will see if it goes off right after I take off from the stop sign. If so, I will stop the car and then see if the break lights are still on. If so, perhaps a little WD40 could help the problem? I am so grateful for this video. I had no clue before. Indeed, I hit Subscribe and a thumbs up.

I have a Captiva sport 2009 that's given me this problem..
I had a bad Rear Left-wheel sensor and tought this was my problem...
I replaced all 4 sensors with bearing and still have the same problem with the Stabiliti Traction Control, ABS and parking-BRAKE ligth.

Hey Clay ...this is Clay Bartley i have a 2 prong problem....i have a 2009 chevy tahoe which has stablitrac problem with a engine warning light ..The engine is running a little ruff...am just wondering if it may be a bad spark plugs or or bad plug wire ...or tire sensor..?

CLay, I've changed the brake sensor, ground wire from firewall to block. Stabilitrak and traction control off light still being displayed on my 2009 Silverado, really need another avenue before turning my 16 year old son loose in this truck.

Hi Clay I have a 2016 gmc terrain with 130 plus thousand miles, today my stabilitrak light came on, first my dash needles started going up and down, then I lost power and my check engine light came on, I stopped turned it off and started it again, engine light still on, after a few minuted service satbilitrak light came on and loss of power, I was able to make it home, now my question is can it be the spark plugs? they haven't been change yet and would like to know if that can cause the problem. I have a question would that light cause my brakes not to work because at times I'll have great brakes so I know my brakes are good I just had a mechanic do my brakes my question is now that that light is on why is it at random times does it feel like I have no brakes at all
Can the wheel speed sensor cause those dash lights to come on also. My a.b.s would kick in almost every time I stop so I pulled the a.b.s fuse and it still did it and now those lights are on. ( Fuse is back in)
Absolutely.... ABS can cause that in the past I found that that’s either a broken reluctor ring or a faulty ABS control module. Obviously I can’t say for certain and your situation because I’m not there and this is a text message but I would look at them two things because more than likely they are the culprit
First thing you would do is watch on a live scanner all four wheels and see which one is going slower or faster than the other ones.
Also having the wrong size tires will cause this problem as well they all must be the same size and the same make
Because tires are just like jeans wranglers fit different than Levi’s etc. etc.
Thanks for the video but I've got a 2009 Buick Lacrosse 3.8L and for over a year my traction control and ABS lights have been on so they haven't been working. My friend (who's a mechanic) and I have been trying to figure out what is going on and replacing parts. The codes are C0090 & C0095. There was another code for the front left speed sensor and we took care of that with a new bearing. We also installed a new bearing on the right rear but that didn't fix it. While replacing that bearing he noticed the wires going into the plug from the loom was bad (not enough to splice) so I got a new loom that takes care of both rear wheels. As before that didn't clear the codes. We both decided to more research so I went home, lights on. When I got home I parked the car and then got the idea to start and see if the lights were on, they weren't. I went down the driveway (icy) and they ABS worked great and so did the traction control. But by the time I got parked back in the garage they were back on. He thinks since the ABS Control Module hasn't been working for so long the solenoid for that wheel may be stuck. What do you think? And any idea how to loosen it so it works? I've also read online that flushing the brake lines and putting in new brake fluid may work, again what do you think?
Jr Groe frade wire!!? Dirty abs sensor! Sensor didn’t get shimmed properly after brake job!! Dirty abs ring!! These are easy no cost solutions!!! Try them! It is said that replacing hubs to replace harness also and to replace in pairs!!
One wire on the mass airflow sensors plug was damaged on my 2010 Silverado. This was dangerous due to the fact that it completely disabled traction control and also my truck has the g80 locker that automatically locks . So let’s say it’s wet out and I’m accelerating on a interstate ramp. The truck will loose control because gm wanted to save money and use a outdated automatic locking diff instead of a selectable locker. Then found out oh shit this isn’t the safest thing so now let’s dump millions into developing a traction control system that keeps this from happening. And they still use it today.

2007 avalanche 4x4 lifted 8” I’ve replaced both front wheel hubs, with speed sensors and I only get the stability light when I make a turn right or left it don’t matter! No loss of power but I do feel a weak and slight pulse in the breaks!! I thought it was a bad wheel hub I bought from autozone so I upgraded and bought the high dollar moog ones and it’s the same issue Any suggestions would be helpful
Hey good afternoon custom that should be a pretty easy problem to fine when you look at the wires Wheel speed sensor wires they have to be pooled someway what you’re going to look for on the wires is a bunched up part they may not be tour but they will look almost kinked in a way. You could also look up how to do a continuity test and that will tell you where the break is that I am certain there is a break from what you’re telling me I hope you find it

I've got a 2009 Buick Enclave. Stabilitrak message and cruise quit working. I replaced the brake relay switch, only $13 from a dealer. It fixed the cruise, but not the Stabilitrak message. Now what?

My 2005 Z71 4X4 Tahoe has service stability and service brake on and most of the time it locks the brakes up. I can loosen the brake fluid lines on the front and the code goes away and I can then safely drive the vehicle. But now it will not go away
There is a Service Stabiltrac message also its the enging ruff running and flasing engine lite..
My 2009 duramax 2500 has a stabilitrak error
Code reader shows p07080 error transmission sensor a. I loose shift indicator light and it stays in whatever gear I am in when error surfaces. No cruise control. It has been resetting if you let it sit turned off but it's getting bad enough now I can't drive it. Error even occurs parked and idling. I'm frustrated nothing I've tried has worked

Hey Clay, I have a 14 Sierra Denali with a 6.2L. Today I popped a P0307 as well as the Trac Light. Why would they go off at the same time? The truck is idling and driving very rough. I'm going to replace the 7 ignition coil, wire and plug what should/can I do about the Traction Control light?
Take care of your own ability issue first and then see what happens there probably not related but they could possibly be on that new of vehicle.
Clay, Thank you for the replay. After carefully inspecting the engine I ended up finding the bank 7 spark plug wire was popping off. I replaced all the wires and it has been restored to beast mode.

Well then you obviously know that this is not the only reason that that light can be on and at the time that I made this video I thought it was one of the few reasons but I’ve learned over the course of a couple years . That it is several several reasons. So I’ve made a couple other videos on possible reasons why dislike can come on and I bet you I could write a book on them

Hi Clay do you know something about crazy needles??. My unit is a 2011 Chevy Silverado HD 3500 6.6. When needles start to get crazy everything runs bad: radio, cruise control, A/C, gearbox, etc
This is going to sound stupid . But it sounds like your negative battery cable is probably loose or you have a bad ground there is something that is not connected completely together like it is supposed to be it may have been some kind of service that you performed in the past and the bolt not being tight is rearing its ugly head. Look for loose wires or loose connections I’m absolutely certain that’s probably your problem

My stabilitrak traction control light keeps coming in in my 2016 gmc acadia I have taken it to two mechanics do is put it on the computer to run Diagnostics. Nothing has came up it has said nothing about traction control Stabilitrak password when I get in the vehicle for the first time during the day and start it up it takes about 10 to 15 minutes before the light comes on but when I turn the car off the light goes out but it always comes back on also if I try to merge quickly into a lane it comes on and it feels like the car is skipping I don't know what else to do or I am thinking about taking it to the GM dealership I am at a loss for words I've been through the two mechanics that tell me there is nothing wrong that they can see or that the computer recognizes
This might help someone, i have an 07 Silverado and the stability trac and traction control would flash on and say service soon then go away..... my fix was replacing the MAF sensor and the air filter, i also replaced the spark plugs.
Believe it or not, the MAF sensor does infact have something to do with the stability trac issue.
Dirty maf will cause a lean fuel condition which causes a misfire, anytime you have a misfire it disables traction control

My stabiliTrak light on and parking assistance. My car had sensor changed and it's still bad. Now it says po207 code
Can some one tell me, why my stabikitrack come on as soon as I start my truck but when I put my foot on the gas it doesn't accelerate for a few min then it picks up. But when I put my foot on the breaks the breaks levitate.. I was told to replace my front differential but I was told that's not the issue can someone please tell me what the issue if u have a GMC envoy 2005
That’s a tough one to answer it sounds like you did the best job you could to explain it but unfortunately there’s a lot of variables that are not known so making a diagnosis over the Internet would be extremely difficult in your situation I wish I had better news and I could be of more help.
my chevy 2007 truck stabilitrak wont work but light doesnt come on i press the button doesnt shut on or off which confuses me. any ideas codes read u0109 but changed fuel control module u0121 lost communication with EBCM

More than likely it’s because your ABS wheel speed sensors are not working properly what you would have to do is look at live data while you’re breaking. I hope that’s helpful for you let me know how it turns out God bless have a great day

Hello clay sorry to bother again but i cant look at abs live data with my scanner tool but it a has a code c0561-71
2015 Impala 2LT (stock) ,92,000 KM a few times a week, either at start or while driving "Service Stabilitrak" or "Service power steering" comes on. If the car is shut off for 5 minutes and restarted, those warnings on the odometer screen are gone. Ignore?
I’m not certain about that generally I have a Answer but in this situation that’s not something that I’ve ever heard of

I have my awd went off n my stabilitrak n brake lights are on so I'm wondering could it be this?
Mine is a 2008 Cadillac cts4 awd I have a feeling it could be this or corroded wiring from a leaking sunroof? I have a hard time attempting stuff like this

Hey clay I have a 2009 Chevy Tahoe my stabilizer track track control and abs light is on the engine seems to be a lil slow my front tire sensor has been out for awhile it also has been saying monitor tire system any suggestions
It definitely does not have anything to do with your tire pressure monitor unless your tire is just low all the time
I have a 2016 3/4 ton single cab, long bed. It's got 11700 miles. The service stabilatrac lite came on. Took my truck in to the dealer. They replaced some module, reprogrammed the computer. Brought it home. 8 weeks later, again. Took it back in, it's still there. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

I got it fixed, in my case after engine change, they forgot (smh)to connect back the front right ABS cable, code cleared

I get stabilitrak, no abs, no track control (lights stay illuminated on dash), cruise control works, and its intermittent. What can be the possible causes and ways of troubleshooting? Big help if you cover this topic.

I have a 14 silverado and my abs and service stabilitrak just came on out of nowhere. All my brake system parts have been replaced and are new. Could me hard wiring in a 3rd brake light to my trailer package behind the bumper cause this if water, salt and other contaminants made it in to the soldiered connections?

Hey Steve the stability track light can come on for many different reasons I don’t think that is one of them what you need to do is have a shop look at the live data from your ABS system and they will be able to diagnose that problem really quickly

Second - they are charging me $67 to read it on there scanner. Is it sophisticated enough to really pin point out where the issue is? Say if it's a ground somewhere. Will it be direct in the area of issue? I'm just trying to justify the money. Thanks again!

Steve L most of the time when those two lights are on together it’s the wheel hub,, always replace in pairs!!!!!! And it’s suggested you replace wire harness too! Moog comes with harness, however way to diagnose is if when driving it roars sounds like you have on 4by4, or lift of ground with jack turn wheel by hand listen for light grinding, shake wheel to look for any give!
@@LH81633 thank you for the reply! These are both new hubs, roughly 5 months old. Replaced together. I am running 33s and these hubs are from the company Master Pro. Not reallycheap at $88 each. That's my confusion. Wonder if you strongly believe this, if I need higher end wheel bearing hubs?

I domt know if you'll see this but have you ever came cross 4wd, stabilitrak and traction control going out all at the same time. My initial thoughts was wiring or actuator. Second opinion would be awsome.
Good morning Dawson, more than likely that’s just a bad wheel speed sensor. You just need to have it scanned and then you’ll know which sensor to replace that’s actually generally a pretty cheap repair

On my 07 suburban it comes on briefly, then goes off...not sure what it is
El Monty the Eminent some times it is a dirty air filter! Clogged fuel injector in wich they will fualt your spark plugs!! Check 1&7 plug regap or replace put in a very good fuel injector cleaner
My Stabilitrak and traction control light only comes on after a stop, within 1/2 mile or less it resets, any suggestions?
The possibility that comes to mind right away is that do you have a slow wheel speed sensor but I could not be for sure without hooking it up to a scanner. Meaning at slower movement the four sensors.
One of them is towing the computer a different speed then the other ones
@@sharpcarco I did replace all 4 wheel speed sensors, maybe one isnt spaced/shimmed at the right depth?

I doubt you need a new car Margot I just would recommend taking it to a local repair shop you don’t have to necessarily take it to the dealership and I’m sure it’s something that they can fix rather quickly my guess would be you may need a new wheel bearing or wheel bearing sensor but that’s just off the top of my head there’s so many possibilities it would be difficult for me to list them all

My 2014 Silverado 2500hd Duramax crew cab throws on my traction control lights and stab-link and check 4x4 if I break the tires loose. This started after my rear differential was replaced. Any thoughts? Thanks
2015 acadia... rig runs fine...until the traction control and stabilitrak light comes on AND while accelerating, it struggles to send the power to the motor. The rig shakes..but only when it's an issue. Every time I start and drive it, it's fine. It happens at random. PLEASE HELP!

2010 camaro SS SERVICE STABLI Track comes on. Then goes off. Had it check said multi miss fire #3 cyclinder. Replaced #3coil all 8 spark plugs and #3 injector. But it’s still going it. Any ideas??
Good afternoon blue. Sorry to hear that . what size engine is in it. More than likely it’s probably the AFM valves are not working that would be my best guess right off the top of my head
6.2 L AUTOMATIC 64,oooMiles. It seem to mostly do it when turning and give it a good bit throttle.

Well why don’t you check out the throttle plate. And the air filter and make sure it’s not all gummed up. I know it seems silly and more than likely is not the problem. But heck it’s worth a try

Sounds like you probably have a bad wheel bearing very common with them vehicles
I have an '08 torrent as well. Same issue with lights. I replaced my erg valve last summer but my lights are coming back on. From what I've gathered through my research today, there's four possibilities so far. I guess erg valves need to be a factory part. Next are the brake pedal switch, brake hub sensor or a grounding issue.
All I know is that I don't know what check first and in what order.
What is the progress of your vehicle?

My stabilitrak light flash several times only when I drive and steer most likely to the left side, and when that happen all my front head lights and interior lights turn off several times even the a/c is turn off/on, I have 24" wheels on my truck I dont think is because of my wheels because even on the original 20" wheels it does the same thing, do think it could be a sensor wheel that it is making this to my truck? My truck is a 2014 Silverado 1500 5.3!!!
Leo Barrera have you tried disconnecting battery after switching sizes! To reset pcm as sizes will affect it!!

That’s a difficult question to answer you probably have a misfire which turned on the stability track light and that misfire is pretty serious because they can clog up the catalytic converter‘s, more than likely you have a collapsed lifter it’s very common for the AFM engines. Obviously you haven’t giving me that much information but 90% of the time in the Chevy engine 2007 or newer it either needs a spark plug or it needs new lifters. However there is a way to bypass the AFM system but the lifter cannot be collapsed.

SERIOUS QUESTION PLEASE HELP!!! My 07 Chevy Silverado... the traction control and stabilitrak turn off and then it jolts the whole truck and then they will turn back on it will consistently do this on gravel or when I stop. Could this be what the issue is?
Well unfortunately I don’t think we’re going to solve this over a text message but. I would think that there’s something on one of the reluctor rings that reads the speed of your wheels. Or you have a defective ABS sensor (wheel speed sensor) . I wish I could be more conclusive than that but hopefully them give you some areas to look at and I hope that I’m correct.

Well I really wish I could help you with that problem but unfortunately I doubt I could diagnose it over the Internets, I would just bite the bullet and pay at shop to take a look at it for you I’m sure they will be able to figure it out
Did u solve it my started doing that took it to the shop and it was good for a few days than its started saying traccion stabilizer off and have reduced power to engine so sometimes I will turn off and it will go away and others it will just stay that way but it all started while running it will just pop up saying power reduced engine and run really slow like running low only it been it an out repair shop and they cant find what it is is a 2014 suburban

Well there’s probably something loose or maybe they didn’t get a sensor in properly there’s so many things that could possibly be after that type of job is done they need to go back over there work and double check it because more than likely they did something wrong sorry I wish I could be of more help
