    By the way im sure people dont really go mudding or use a truck for what its meant for. When people like you and me come accross certain situations off the pavement we notice small things. Like im having to replace my rear brake pads prematurely. I look forward to performing this modification. Thanks

    Had this happen to me when I was heading up a local mountain trail some call "Red Grade." It's steep and that day it was icy. Thought I would be safe and sound by holding the traction control switch until it read that Stabilitrak was off. Started to make my way up the hill only to have to dangerously back all the way down.
    Thanks for these videos. VERY HELPFUL!

    Amazing series of videos. I have a 2007 Chevy 1500 LTZ 4x4 with a 6.5" Zone suspension lift and 35s with the same problem. I haven't gotten stuck yet, but I've come close - only because the truck was fighting me by killing the revs when I needed good wheelspin. I'm just trying to get to remote hunting and fishing destinations, not trying to get stuck. It really pisses me off when I see that stupid traction light flashing after I already took the time to turn it all the way off.
    Anyway, I'm mostly done with the install. It's past midnight, so I'll finish tomorrow. I just wanted to take the time to let you know that I really appreciate the info you've shared. FWIW, my fuse was #10. Pulled it with the truck running and the correct lights came on immediately. Cut the big red wire (with the fuse back in place) and they came right back on. I've spliced it and gotten it (and some rear aux LED switch wires) through the firewall. Tomorrow I just have to hook up the switches and run power back to the lights. Thanks Jeff17s!

    2011 tahoe ltz traction control and stabilizing light on. This happened after we put new wheels and tires and realignment done. Also around the same time we put a cold air intake on it. We had no issues with the warning lights until we did all that. We put it on a coder and it's saying C0253 and C0710. Again no issues with the warning lights until we did the add on to the tahoe.

    • @jeff17s
      @jeff17s  Před 10 lety +1

      I just cut the thicker 14ga red wire, made a continuous circuit through the toggle switch so that when I run the highway with everything on it still has the fuse as safety backup, flipping the switch simply cuts off the electricity to the fuse. Best thing I ever did, I have been stuck on a few occasions as a direct result of the computer not letting me fully pin it haha

    Howdy Bud, I found your video on one of the forums. Is pulling the fuse the exact same as the switch you wired? I went to wire in the switch but wanted to test the idea first, by pulling the fuse. I pulled the fuse, but no cel or TC light came on. In your video you can see the lights come on basically confirming the tc and abs is inoperable.

      Yes, watched your 3 vids, bought the wire and a switch, figured Id pull the fuse first ( #9 labled ABS ) no lights at all. Could still disable and able TC and S. Didn't move fwd as I would think pulling the fuse would make the same lights come on. Its a 2010 gmc 2500hd

      Its weird, I would think, if you pull the abs fuse on any of them that the light would come on. I thought maybe just needed to cycle a few times so I drove around a bit and no lights came on. I've had 3 2x4 fords and never had much issue in snow until this 2012 chev. I only toggle switch it off when I am in sticky situations, or it is really difficult to get through. Do not remove it for highway driving however, as it is a great safety feature for keeping the truck from losing traction.

    can you give me a detailed step by step on how you wired it? I suck at wiring. I bought a 3 prong 25A 12V lighted rocker switch 14G wire and connectors, I'm just not sure how to make the connections on the switch since you only cut one wire. positive negative and acc. I don't care if my switch lights up or not, I just want to cut the power to the fuse.

    • @jeff17s
      @jeff17s  Před 9 lety

      In my previous video I show which wires to splice. Make one snip about 4-6 inches down the thicker red wire from the fuse. Connect each end of the cut red wire (I used butt connector with heat shrink rubber over em) with your 14G wire, one for each end. Take both wires through the firewall to your dash. Connect them with the switch so that the light is off when the current flow to the fuse is live, and ground the switch (usually middle connection of backside of switch). This allows for regular Stabilitrak and Traction control for on highway/city use for safety reasons, and switches off when you need to hammer down when you are in some deep snow. Video for which wires here czcams.com/video/B5CYJf-myds/video.html

    Try holding your traction control button about another 10 to 15 seconds after it says it's turned everything off total time about 20-25 seconds. On the Tahoe it will COMPLETELY disable traction control where if you hit the gas with your rear end up it will run 5000 rpms

      @ChuckBeefOG Před 8 lety +1

      +Jeff17s you are right. My 2010 would do it after you shut off the nannies via the button. You could power through it a little on ice and snow to spin around on a snowy road or whatever. I traded that on a 2015 and the tc vses systems are so insane. You can turn everything off and still cant slide around. Stabilitrak comes back on at like 40 kph. I may have to go this route if it doesnt make the new ones go into limp mode. When i select off, i fucking want that shit off for a reason.

I drive in snow/ice and on roads made with frickin clay with my work trucks GMC half tons new one every 3 yrs. Since they came out with this crap I noticed that if I pump the gas peddle VERY-FAST 3 or 4 times and then pinn'er to the mat the truck will spin all the tires and get S**T happening. Then it is still working on the next corner as I reaching for my celebratory coffee sip.
    I shared this info with our field operators gas/oil patch and it works for them too.

    I need my truck to do more than just tip toe like a nancy pants dammit. When shit gets hairy sometimes you need MORE power, not less. I'm just worried that bypassing these annoying restrictive components might mess something up. You know how cars are these days. You pull the dome light out and suddenly you need to replace the entire computer system.

      Maybe that is the problem too?

    • @jeff17s
      @jeff17s  Před 8 lety

      +Alfredo Sanchez Shouldn't be the problem, as the wheel speed sensors are proportionally sensing the spin of the tires in accordance with the computer sensing the speed of the vehicle. As you turn, the outside wheels are spinning faster than the tires on the inside of the turn. Does it only come on when you turn right or left? or both? As long as the tires are all the same size, the lift is never the problem.

      Stop trying to show off your truck on a informational video. Nobody cares what you drive. And nowadays 400 hp is nothing that’s slow, 2019 4 banger engines will dust you. Comment when you build a 1475hp ranger.

      Nick Carver it's not. I have a '15. Turn off stabilitrac, get in mud and it will rip. I think his issue is due to lifting it off the ground. I hold the traction button for the 5 seconds and I can get through the redline and hit the governor.
