Stabilitrak, Brake Control Function- Bypass

- Brake Control Function can not be turned off by pressing and holding the traction control button to turn of Stabilitrak. It's in your manual. Hence why I am bypassing the system for on demand toggle switch when I am offroad. Do NOT leave the fuse out, disconnected or switched off while hwy driving or inclement weather operation. Because it also turns of ABS!
This toggle switch works perfectly! I will upload another video for demonstration soon.
Click this link for my Demonstration video! It works like a charm.

Absolute Genius!!!!! I’m doing this when I get off work
This was very helpful thank you. No toggle switch for me but I will be pulling that fuse when needed.
The dynamic abs on these trucks sucks. I have the locking differential option, yet they still put the dynamic proportioning rear abs crap on here. I had stabilitrak and traction control turned off, and didn't know about this other. I have KO2 tires, so when I got in the mud, I tried to keep them spinning, so they would clean properly. Nope, engine kept bogging down and acting weird, pumping gas, and got stuck. Finally I started flooring it, and eventually I got a dynamic abs error, saw smoke from rear wheels, and then it suddenly revved properly and I easily got out of the hole and unstuck. About 6 months later I realize that my rear drums brakes are squealing everytime I stop and need to be changed again (they were only 3 months old). Very frustrating. This video is helpful, now I know how to turn my truck into a real truck. GM needs a ranch mode on these things.
Jeff17s, did you splice the red/white or the all red wire? I'm looking to do this in my 2011 Sierra.
Awesome information thank you for your friendly explanation and time!
I have a 2014 express 2500 same problems however my fuse box is different and was wondering what was the id on the cover for fuse #9 I can't make heads or tails of some of the abbreviations. thanks
Hey Jeff it's been a year just wondering if this fix is still doing ok. truck dosent go into limp mode or anything when you have it off to long?I know the service light will stay on but any other issues? thanks in advance budd.
Ic u have a 3 prong toggle u ran the hot to the sold red wire then a ground the what u do with the 3rd wire?
Where did you run the wires between the fuse box and switch?
You can now get a "fuse socket connector" that plugs in the place where the fuse usually plugs into. It has male spade terminals so you don't need to cut into your vehicle wiring. You run two wires from the fuse socket connector to a switch inside the vehicle. One wire holds an inline fuse the same rating as the one you pull to install the fuse socket connector. Cop cars use these to disable daytime running lights and any other devices that are normally not controllable by the driver. Some folks use it as a fuel pump kill switch.
Where can These be found
Bingo , I've just used male wire connectors they fit right into the fuse slot's real nice, just use the ones that are same size as fuse prongs.
As a note to this bullshit GM system. I have a 2009 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Crew Cab Duramax, nice street nods to engine and trans- Emission delete stuff as well. The Stability debate and how to bypass has been running for years. GM put this in as bullshit safety factor for idiot drivers. History of my experience. First vehicle 1978 K-5 Blazer 4x4 402 CI motor all mechanical drivetrain. awesome at anything on or off-road. First truck 1988 Silverado 1500 4x4 z71 regular cab short box 350 TBI. Floor shift 4x4. No traction control and only rear wheel ABS. Never had issues off-road or in snow, revved to the floor all 4 spin in 4wd. Second truck 2000 Silverado 1500 4x4 z71. 5.3 v8 No traction control 4wheel abs off road no issue in 2wd or 4wd revved to the floor all 4 spin @ 5k RPM. 3rd truck 2004 Silverado 1500 Ext cab 4x4 z71, 5.3 v8 Stability management system equipped and non bypass able as it had no TC button, pulling fuses only way to remove invasive abs system . 2wd or 4 wd it sucked unless pulling fuses for ABS system. 4th truck 2004 Silverado 2500 HD Duramax crew cab 4x4. z71 Factory non emission, street tuned ECM. No TCS or stability track fun on street or off-road mud and snow, never stopped revving or spinning even at 4K RPM's . 5th truck - Current -2009 GMC Sierra 2500 HD crew cab short box 4x4 z71. H&S tuner 2013, complete emission delete straight pipe all the regular solid street mods to engine and trans for a hauler and fun run around street truck. Stability track and traction control systems are very invasive. tuners cannot bypass this issues because the systems are operated through the BCM module not the TCM or ECM. with no bypass to TC or stability control the truck is worthless at everything, low revs and no ability to physically manipulate the truck in a high performance fashion. Thankfully by holding the TCM button on dash for 15 seconds bypasses traction and stability control. I am not sure if this just a Duramax thing but on my model once you bypass via the dash button either in 2wd or 4wdHigh this truck will rev rpms to redline of the Duramax and 4wd burnouts 100ft plus are as simple as spooling turbo and launching , with this factory setting bypass I can cruise at 30mph and then floor the truck in 2wd and lay the rubber down for 50 to 80ft every time. 4wd boosted launces = 0-100 mph in 12 to 11 second range on a nice fresh sticky paved road. Just my experience folks Every truck could be different it is a mystery to me for sure.
how did you figure in which wire to hold the inline fuse?
Is it the solid red wire or red and white wire your spicing into
I can't seem to turn mine off, even with the button, I press it and no light or anything pops up, I want it off and I can't seem to turn it off when I need it off most. It bugs me greatly, any advice please? ?
If you that 4l60e transmission this screws,up the lock on it . This all is connected in or caned. It's fuc ked up . See if you start having transmission issues with slippage
what one did you slice the solid red one or the red with white stripe
Mike Leach Solid Red
Does the vehicle roll, coast better with stabilitrak off?
Nice, I can actually drive in the snow now.
Did it make it to where your 4x4 didn’t work?
What is it labeled as on the cover
I have stabilitak message traction service on at my 2008 chevy Equinox. How to bypass the error message. Is it still safe to drive.?.
Buy a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) scanner, plugs in under drivers side dash. run the code, then google the code to see what you are dealing with (may look similar to P039 or something else, there is thousands). Delete the code to see if the computer picks it up again usually within a day, it will come back if there is a problem. Can be anything from a wheel speed sensor, fuse, etc. The only way to know is using a scanner. Best and safest bet is to take it to dealership, but buying a scanner and fixing things yourself saves a ton of money! Over all of my vehicles over ten years I have saved myself thousands of dollars in repairs. The internet is our advantage. But for liability purposes from my standpoint get a professional to fix it lol.
Jeff, My battery light came on in my 2007 Saturn Outlook. I took it to Firestone Auto Service and watched them test the battery. My battery was bad so I had them replace it. They also tested my alternator and it came back with a pass - good. Meanwhile my battery light still is coming on and off for the last several days since I had the new battery installed. Even though my alternator passed as being good, now Firestone is telling me it may be going bad and I need to replace it. What do you think? Thank you.
Often times "new" batteries that are installed are in and of themselves bad. Most places warranty their battery installs for a month or so. This tells them whether it is good or not. Since they tested the alternator, Try getting a new battery quick on their dime. Check the connections and wiring of the battery and alternator themselves, maybe there is a problem there too? Let me know how it goes
pretty cool
So that fuse carries the power to the module or computer that controls all these functions. Can't I just pull the fuse and use male wire connectors in the fuse slot's to run wires to a switch. Then just add a fuse back on one of the wires. This way no wire splicing and putting it back to original would mean just pulling the male spades out of the fuse slots and putting the fuse back in. I've done the same thing for kill switch, to prevent car theft. Just choose the fuse that controls whatever you want to control power to.
That switch you installed should have been installed at the factory.
when you made the splice , did you take the cut wire from the fuse and go to the switch then back to the other end of the cut ?
+Spider-Man 79 Yes, I just used some 16 ga blue wire I had on hand. Technically just placed the switch in series with the fuse.
+Jeff17s
Just so I understand properly, how did you exactly splice this in? I see a red wire with a stripe and red wire. Im sorry to sound dumb, but want to make sure I dont cut the wrong wire. Perhaps if you dont mind you could do an exact step by step? Thanks
Yes do we splice the striped red wire or the solid red wire?
Jesus this took me so long to find. Thanks. Now i just gotta figure out where to put the switch...
Wait, you guys’ traction control and ABS actually works?
Did you eliminate the fuse completely or did you just tie into the wires? I want to do this as well do you have a video of the wiring after you were done ?
A link to the video that demonstrates my splice in line should be in the comments, the fuse functions normally until I flip my switch.

Jeff, I have a 07 suburban stabilitrack and traction light comes on and the front breaks lock up while I'm driving do you think this well solve the problem?
beN lane you ever find your problem I got the same problem
Im about ready to try it to find out.
if i pull the abs or the stabilitrack traction control nonsense in my 2004 avalancye, it will be just like im driving my 87 heavy chevy white long bed pickup silverado, so what's the difference? and my dad's 86 ford ranger don't have abs either... so, what will be the actual difference?
Only legal liabilities and yours/passenger safety... ABS does save lives that's why I leave it on unless I am stuck
Hey dude I'm trying to do this right now and I can't get that top of the fuse box off
Just give it a good yank. It pops right off!
You can hold the traction control button and shut down all the same things pulling that fuse does. Just hold down for 5 or so second, will say stabilitrack off
Lol bruh, jack up your rear tires and do that. Then come back to this video kk
Good video. I have a 07 tahoe and my headlights cut on and off and u can hear the door locks click to. Any idea what that could be?
Trailer brake module side of the frame left rear wheel.
Get this fixed? Same problem here
Change your master fuse
@@pirruripirruri4731 Replace the negative battery cable
How when codes read co035, co040, & co561 on the car when not even fully on?
+Titania Salazar haha shot in the dark lol. The connections to the ABS sensors and wiring tend to go bad on GM pretty quick. Before you go replacing the hubs and all, I would check the wiring and sensors first. Codes will still show up without the car on, if the computer senses a current issue in the wires. Check this out. www.fixya.com/cars/t14741928-solutions_dtc_co561
Just wish you did a install vid I'd like to do mine
Jack Daniels I am sorry, it was just a splice of the solid Red wire soldered with rubber sleeve heat gunned to seal moisture. My wires in between run to my dash connected to my toggle switch. Watch my next video on how it fixes this!
Sweet getting ready to do this mod! I need the switch even for 2WD when on the Dyno, traction control cuts power and the Dyno operators always ask folks to remove the ABS, Traction Control, Stabilitrac fuse.... Did you ever add a updated video with the install?
Thanks
Adam Eich that sounds like a fun update! Works flawless.! Eill try one soon!!!
have a 2009 trailblazer, whats is the fuse number for stabltrak on t...i dont have the manual
I have a 2009 yukon denali that has service stability & traction control also it's in limbo mode no engine power can I just take a fuse out to get it goin
+Donald Uwanawich possibly
Donald Uwanawich did you try that or fix the problem by other means? It happened to me a couple times months ago as I was driving and it hasn't happened since but it would be good to know if I'm out somewhere and it happens. Last time I just waited a few minutes and my sierra denali ran fine again. I was told it was the electronic petal that had to be replaced.
So I wanted to disable my stabilitrak too but now my trailblazer sounds like an airplane going down the road. Any advice for me? Will disabling the stabilitrak take care of it? thanks Joe
***** Disabling the Stabilitrak will probably not change the sound, you should just put some wings on it and see if it flies...
Just disable it on the shifter. Mine is bad, and if I turn it on my Trailblazer will barely run. Turn it off and it runs fine., ABS has a minor pulse when stopping.
I'm 4x4 models when you go to 4 x4 low, according to driver manual on 2008 Silverado, it turns, all the stupid stabila shi t off . So I'm think taping into that.
How it work tapping into 4x low?
Even if i pull all the abs fuses and turn off traction control it still has abs light and cuts power when i spin
U pulling wrong fuse.
know this is an older video but my truck never had this issue got stuck once and it would redline and sling mud in forward and reverse.
What year / make?
I did everything as you said in the video but now my pickup does not turn on only the dash lights?
You watch all my videos?
was does this do how does it help ???????
will cruise control still work with fuse pulled?
GunsCarsBikeCigars yes
mine number 9 sys "ABS 2" and number 2 says "ESC/Exh" esc is the stability program no? id rather have abs on and everything else off.
i have an impala that started stuttering at light when at a full stop by the time i cut the car off i couldnt turn it back on and the engine light came on along with service traction control system on it, but car still wont turn on. How do i fix this issue?
+Titania Salazar probably your alternator gone
check ground wires,,and pcm ground wire
did it work ok now?
+motox766 It works excellent for me. I have noticed however if I leave it flipped off for too long, the service Stabilitrak light may stay on for an hour or so afterwards I flip it back on but still works.
What is the point of pulling the fuse ? Thanks
If you pull the fuse you lose ABS and Stabiltrak, but the vehicle operates like normal.
why didnt you name the video to your vehicle? fuse and relay boxes are different per operating system..
how can i find my fuse to cut it off Jeff? 2014 impala old
The same fuse I point out in this video
can I do this in a 2002 Escalade?
Just burn that POS
You already have a stable trac disable button on 2002 Escalade ! Just hold the button for more than 5 seconds before letting go
empirial butt wizard it doesn't go all the way off even with the buttons that's why this video was made
Very cool I have a 2001 burb 1500 any one know what fuse I need to pull do turn off the traction and stabilitrack. Mines always on no button to disable it?
djtoo7 what's a burb??
Suburban
So I was attempting to do this.. I unhooked the fuse block just like the video... Didn't do anything, reinstalled it and now my truck won't turn over? Anyone experienced this! PLEASE HELP!
Ethan Heyrend did you disconnect the battery prior to pulling fuse box? Not doing so may have blown a different fuse. Check them all
I didn't disconnect the battery. I checked ALL the fuses
@@blindside7xdid you fix it what happened?
@@JayyMoney-vr7nv yes.... I had pulled a fuse and put it back in the wrong spot...
@@blindside7x oh okay gotcha I was scared to do it since you said that 😂😂 but ima try it.
So more and less this is how i whip donuts and roast the tires off and not have my truck cut out from stabilitrak😂
Absolutely!

this, stabila, cap is for drivers that dont know, how to get off throttle when your spinning your tires,on ice,, wet roads,.
Stop being dumb . It just applys the brakes when it detects wheel spin . . People don't want that . People want wheel spin when we want it ..

Why not just fix it the right way?
Because YOU didn't tell us how!!!
What was he supposed to fix?
That track control caused me to wreck!,I'm sueing !,
Well if you don't know how to drive😂
Same thing with me in a 2007 pontiac suv. Bought a 2007 chevy eqiunonox and same shit happend. Brakes lock up when going round corner. almost crashed again. Never chevy ever again.
What exactly does that stupid "stabitrack" do and what controls it? Is there a servo motor in the steering column or what? What about yanking a wire that goes to the steering box - or Is there one on it?
Computer that senses a combination of the wheel speed sensors, rpm, and the actual movement of the vehicle (I believe possibly more but I'm not sure). Once it senses wheel spin, the computer sends a signal to a control module that engages the brakes to each caliber accordingly to maintain traction on the road, as well as limiting the rpm. This feature is really actually good for inexperienced drivers on the pavement hitting black ice and highway use, even hydro planing. That's why I wanted to have a bypass switch to leave it functional on roads. Yet at the same time this system does not allow drivers to gain experience, on what to do in those situations. I grew up with 80s vehicles, so yeah this system bugs me.

DO NOT splice the red&white wire. Splice the red wire.

Jeff17s I haven't tried this yet how's it working I have a 2012 with a totally built motor and 3,000 stall sucks not being able to use my motors potential.
You all are still wrong my truck will keep it off. Always has 1 not in 2 wheel drive but you put In 4 low hold button for 8 to 10 go back to 4 high and and it had a issue with it resetting, I've owned my truck for 6 year's and never had a problem when I followed directions! 07 Silverado half ton, Z-83 4 door! It does reset in 2 wheel drive and limits Rpms.
GM won't quit until they break all 10 commandments. stabilitrak so stupid.
Check the glove box for the JL4 code.
The GM 2003 to 2008 yukon and avalanche have the jl4 code. 1/4 inch brake lines. Except for the farthest rear to our 3/16. They all connect to the BPMV that is underneath the driver seat by the frame underneath. I used easy to bend copper and flare tool. and used the old fittings.
cost me less than $200.
Pending lawsuit against GM for making these stupid Rusty brake lines and they knew that exactly for the northern people with salt on the roads.
By the way none of the auto parts stores know anything about the stuff and the 1/4 lines.
