- In this video i take you through a common issue with GM scan code #P0123 - "reduced engine power". I am no mechanic but I was able to replace this myself. In this video I do my best to walk through step by step on how to remove the throttle body and sensor and replace it with a new one. Do this yourself will save you a ton of money. If you are having the issue of #ReduceEnginePower #ServiceStabilitrak and Service Traction Control it is highly likely that the Throttle Body and or Throttle Body Sensor will need to be replaced.
*Thank You for watching DONT FORGET TO GIVE ME A THUMBS UP AND SUBSCRIBE!* - Zábava
Liked the video. Also check the rear pcv valve back behind the throttle body. It gets clogged up and causes the engine to run rough and throw the oil into the throttle body.
Hope this helps
Thanks for adding the info This will be helpful for sure. I’m
Not quite sure why this happens to the throttle body?
Thank you so much!
This was extremely helpful!
Hopefully Ill have the same luck as you.
No problem man. I’m glad I could help! Keep me posted
@@hotsaucejunkietim just swapped the parts out today and the truck runs waaaaaaay better.
Thanks again!
@@antoinecaldwell6318 Thats awesome Im so glad to hear that you were able to fix it on your own Im glad I was able to help you
Thanks that was a helpful hint very helpful
Hey no problem. I’m glad I could help ! I have to replace this damn thing twice already
Wow awesome brother you fixed it. Great to no
Thanks Sherry. Yeah it want too bad of a job to fix Hopefully my video will help others
Good video.I am having the same problem.. mine is 2010 though...
But I'm sure it's the same time... ordering the part right now..!
Thanks
Lemme know how it goes for you!
Did it work for you?
Did it work ?
Thanks alot for the video it helps!!!

Good job
Thanks Daveat. Hopefully I was able to help ya or teach ya something
Thank you

Did you have a bunch of oil in the hose going to the throttle body? Mine did and I cleaned mine about 6 months ago but now acting back up . I'm thinking until I can figure out how to keep all that crap from getting in there it's going to be a never ending problem
Yep I sure did
You can desconecting baterie in front nice video trankis
Really? Oh ok. Ya it’s sure a pain in the butt having to mess around with it inside the truck. Thanks for the info
I have the same problem “ power is reduced , then it says engine overheating then turns off , well this solve the problem? By buying the throttle body ?
Mine did overheat too but I needed to replace the water pump I don’t think that had anything to do with the throttle body. But the throttle body replacement should fix the power is reduced issue
to me on the board said once engine power reduced but clean and removed and worked completely well but does not remove the signals of the board will be that when putting a new one is a gmc acadia 2010
Ya I was hoping by cleaning it would have fixed the problem, but for me it didnt work thanks for watching and commenting
If this happens again small tip instead of fighting those hose clamps with a flat blade screwdriver look for a benefit that that's a hex head as well for the flat bladed screwdriver break put a wrench on it and you won't fight trying to keep that flatbread screwdriver in there
Oh ok. That’s a great idea. Thanks for sharing that 🤜🤛
@@hotsaucejunkietim my father was an auto mechanic for over 25 years so I picked up tips and tricks from him but sit down and do what you just did it take awhile I can do the very very basic
@@KingBluto Ya this was a pretty basic repair for the most part! Its always helpful to have a mechanic in the family though Lucky you!
Wow. I have the same car but only with 108750 miles. And. I just got this
Wow that’s pretty low mileage. Hopefully my video will fix the problem! Mine is at 212000 miles now and still running
Would it make sense to change the Mas sensor and put a new Air filter in as well? 🤔
Well. I’m just a regular dude with no automotive repair background so I’m not sure. But (to me) I don’t think that would change anything. I’d hate for you to replace parts that weren’t needed. But them damn sensors can screw a lot of things up
Hello! hotsaucejunkie tim, First time on your channel. I'm thinking about getting a 2009 GMC Acadia ste-1 I would like to know your opinion on this type of vehicle. It does have 147K mileage, a 3.6L V6 automatic 6-speed
I bought mine with around 130,000 ish mileage. I had transmission issues , replaced the water pump twice but other than that it ran decent, I traded it in with 210,000 miles and it still ran. Thanks for stopping by the channel!!!!!
so when you were driving it and accelerate would it sputtering? when I drive mine and let off the acceleration and go to accelerate it would sputter do you think that's what's happening to mine? probably need to replace the throttle body...
Yes it would sputter and very low acceleration. It would take miles to get up to speed and my top speed would only be around 40 MPH Does it say engine power is reduced?
@@hotsaucejunkietim no it doesn't say that but it says all the things it says on yours in the beginning of your video
@@preciouse72 might be a sensor of some sort then.
@@hotsaucejunkietim it does lose acceleration when I go on incline hill and I lose it and I have to tap on the acceleration for it to hopefully get back my power to drive it. I don't know I guess I'm doing my spark plugs first then look into that throttle body part
@@preciouse72 Kind of sounds a little different than the problems I had.
My Acadia 2009 has almost same problem on top of that gear shift with jerk and light of Parking goes Normal and comes back to same position and engine power gets reduce . …… suggest is it the same problem ?
It’s possible! Does the truck lack acceleration and top end speed?
my womans 2008 trailblazer has a service stabilitrack light that keeps coming on and the engine studders a second. wonder if its having that issue with throttle body. might have to look into this.
Does it have the reduce engine power display as well?
👍
Hope I helped ya out?
fixing this on my 2008 Impala LTZ right now for same problem
Were you able to fix it?
What was the symptoms that car was doing my Arcadia getters every now and then while driving its getting alot worst
Extremely low acceleration top about 35 miles an hour and then the everything I listed - displayed on the dashboard so I don’t recall it sputtering, but extremely low acceleration and extremely low top speed
Does this method work for reduced power in engine?
Ohh jeez didn't see the thumb nail great video BTW
Thanks!!! It’s all good. Yep. This SHOULD solve the problem. I’ve had to replace the damn thing twice now. Lol.
I have a 2012 Acadia doing the same thing but after I drive about a mile after the codes hit, everything goes back to normal
Thats kind of how mine started out. Sounds like the computer might be setting itself and clearing the code(s)?
I have 2012 Acadia, and same issues started happening with it. 4 5 times it happened that during driving codes hit and after 2 e miles it went back to normal. Today it happened again but it did not went back to normal. I’m worry now. I don’t what do to.
Could be a bad sensor? How’s it been lately?
Did the fix hold up?
Yes! The truck runs like a champ now
That casket come with that new throttle body ?
I believe so
@@hotsaucejunkietim can i use that old casket ? Thank you tho
I believe so. I did
Was the name of the part call that u replace
Throttle body
@@hotsaucejunkietim thank for the help and reply so fast
@@mannyramirez2238 Your welcome and Im glad I could help!
🐂BullCow was here
nice to see ya!
I have the same problem, I have already changed the throttle body 3 times, they work for a while and then the problem returns
Damn. Ya I had to chance mine twice but so far so good! I wish I could be more of an assistance for you
You have to change the rear pcv fitting on the back with the hose that what keeps screwing up throttle body most of the times
*Me clicking into this video*
“Where’s the sauce?”
I drank some after I ended this show as a celebration that I fixed the truck. Lol 😆
Did you have to do a relearn
Relearn?
@@hotsaucejunkietim Some throttle body replacements require that you do a "relearn" procedure so that the pedal and the throttle body function together correctly.
@@firemanjd2002 NOPE mine ran fine after replacing it!
My wife's 2017 acadia is showing all those warnings, we took it to the mechanic and they told us it is the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel pump. Now I'm wondering if the real problem is the throttle body
He has a P0123 code, do You have the same code? That is an important thing to consider
It's showing a P0090 code
Well I am no mechanic I’m just a regular dude. But I would follow his advice before mine because it appears as though you have a different error code from what I had
@@hotsaucejunkietim you are right, I was just hoping I'd spend $200 on the throttle body and install it myself than the $2000 they are charging me at the mechanic
@@juanabalos4157 yep mechanics charge an arm and leg these days!
Service all wheel drive gmc acadia 2011
Is that a question for me ? Or?
I changed the throttle body, maf sensor, ignition switch, the problem is still there
Hmmmm damn. That’s frustrating. Possibly a faulty throttle body (even though you replaced it). I know when I initially replaced it, I had to replace it again a few months later, then it ran fine.
You don't have to take the screws off. Just loosen them.
Oh really! Damn wish I woulda known that before. Lol. Thanks for the info and help 🤜🤛
I have a 2012 GMC acadia and mine is doing this so bad
Ya I had to replace this twice. Were you able to fix it?
but where's he spicey pickles... LOL
You mean the nasty assed ones? LOL
I have problem with traction control
Any other error code show up?
Dude…I’m dizzy from the the camera going back & forth… Cross-eyed as well… I have to puke now!
Did it at least help you? I hope ?
Yes sir… I apologize… I should not have been so snarky! Lesson learned… Please forgive…
@@kfsowner1 Ya its all good. It hard to hold the camera, record, and do repairs at the same time lol
I dont want to know how to fix it. I want to know what it means. What is a throttle thing???????
I believe it is a flap that allows air flow? My there’s internal sensors that get messed up? I think? I don’t know. All I know is that I had to replace mine twice and so far so good!!!!
You didnt relearn the system
I’m not sure what that means but either way this fixed the problem
My GMC Acadia has been the worst vehicle I’ve ever purchased it’s just problem after problem after problem
Yes I’ve had my fair share of problems as well But I do have 200,000 on it now. What other problems are you dealing with?
@@hotsaucejunkietim 340000 on my bad boy. Oil in the intake like crazy but still a beast lol
@@daviddupuis8473 Wow. That’s an impressive amount of miles!
I have a 2014 with 147k miles and spent $3200 since January in repairs and towing!!!
I know right I have one and is been problems after problems!
Super annoying maybe need a camera stand or someone to film it
Yep that WOULD be great idea! Or even a head set/head gear to attach the camera too but at the time this is all i has to work with so hopefully it was somewhat helpful for ya?
I have had this problem but i cleaned the throttle body ,the true test is driving aboiut 10 miles because my codes come back, i am leaning towards bad coil pack as i am getting a miss which sets these lights off,on the 2017 buick enclave i have to replace the throttle body. Which has the sensor attached so you half to buy the package. Deal , they are asking almost shy of 300 dollars, so i am going to replace all the coil packs, milage is 76000 on my buick,i am also doing all the maintenance things for this mileage range, plugs O2 sensors,
Oil to trans 😷 d, an transfer case oil
,either way alot of savings vs going to the thieves, i mean dealer!!!
I cleaned mine too at first and still failed. I had to replace the throttle body twice before it actually fixed the problem! Frustrating? Yes? But money saving? Oh hell yes. You’re right those mechanics are crooks when it comes to auto repairs - unless you find an honest one!
