2007 GMC Acadia Service Stabilitrak - No Traction Control - English Part 1

  • Our Acadia was towed home after displaying messages Service Stabilitrak, No Traction Control, and Service Traction Control. After using a scanner, the following codes are stored: P0011, P0014, P0021, and P0024. They all are related to the camshaft variable timing solenoids. Also HCAT, AIR, and EGR monitors are not working.
    In this video, I tackle the common problem of a clogged PCV Valve (Positive Crankcase Ventilation).
    A clogged PCV valve will make the engine to start vomiting oil to the snorkel before the throttle body. This can also clogged the MAF sensor (Mass Air Flow), the throttle body lever, the throttle body position sensor, which would give us the failed monitors for emissions.
    Also, the same problem would cause a low oil pressure inside the engine and not enough oil to reach the camshaft solenoids...which would trigger the four codes I am getting.

    Thanks so much for the video! I just recently had all the same readouts as you did. I figured that the stabilitrac was controlled by the brakes and checked my brake fluid level. It was low. Filled it to proper level and bingo, everything works fine now! BTW my PC valve was dirty like yours! I got a little aggressive and broke one of the lines! Whoops!

    Very good video. The only thing I would have done differently was to put the oil cap back on the engine instead of cramming a shop rag into it.
    Keep up the good work!

    FIXED! My 2014 gmc acadia slt was showing traction control off and service stabilitrak after just a few mins of driving after about 35mph if I accelerated more than 1/3 throttle the truck would cut power in quick intervals making the drivetrain shake hard. So after finding that my brake switch sensor was always triggering the lights to be on and it had to do with the slack that built up over the years in my brake peddle... changing the sensor wouldn't fixed the problem... so I added a small piece of plastic to the sensor to fix the problem. I've been driving it alot over the last few weeks with zero problems! Hope this helps someone.

    This was excellent. I had so much gunk in my manifold exhaust. I replaced the PCV valve in the back, cleaned the throttle body, cleaned the mass air flow sensor....but still getting stabilitrak and traction warnings. It only happens after i have been driving for a while then stop. Within 15 sec of stopping the warnings come back on. Doesn't seem to affect the performance or anything. Not sure what else to do.

      Hello Matt, I did this video b/c I was getting all the other codes. Once I performed the fix; they all went away. Almost a year later, now I am having the stabilitrak and traction messages again. Like you, without any problems to the performance but triggered when stopping (the message goes away when turning off and on). I have investigated and these can be triggered by many issues. One could be a faulty break pedal sensor; or the famous wheel speed sensors. You need a GM2 scanner to pinpoint these...I bought a knock off chinese scanner to help me fix this but I haven't gotten to it yet....check out this forum...they talk about the speed sensor and how it can be dirty and be cleaned: www.acadiaforum.net/threads/question-about-the-wheel-speed-sensors.13286/

    Looks like I am the 8th person to view this... is there a part 2?
    I recently had the motor out of my Acadia and replaced the timing chains and tensioners. After re-installing the motor trans K member the Stabilitrak and traction control codes are now coming up. Seems like this could be the same issue I'm having... did you end up pulling the variable valve timing sensors? Did you replace them or clean them?

    • @svca12218
      @svca12218  Před 4 lety +1

      Hello Jakestock11. Yes there is a part 2. I might upload it today. I replaced the PCV valve and opened the holes to GM suggestions (5/64 bottom and 7/64 top). Reconnected everything and that got rid of all 4 solenoids codes. But right after that, it developed a knocking sound coming from back of engine and many more emissions monitors are out...my wife did tell me about this intermittent knocking sound...she drives the car...I tested the fuel purge valve and I am replacing it today. Parts store had to order it and I am picking it up today. Hopefully that will be the end of it.

    Hello, please help me. Acadia 10th year. 215 km mileage. High fuel consumption. I replaced the spark plugs, the valve cover gasket, cleaned the valve covers, cleaned the pcv valve, replaced the plunger, cleaned the throttle valve, and the hoses that go to the plunger. There was also oil in the air hose, I also cleaned it. But the fuel consumption is too high. I think it has to do with high engine revs. Which does not slow down when changing gears and coasting without gas. What do you think it could be or some sensor or regulator could be broken?

    • @svca12218
      @svca12218  Před rokem

      did you disconnect the battery or changed throttle body? When disconnecting the battery or changing/replacing/cleaning the throttle body you have to follow a GM relearn procedure. It can be done with the expensive tablets at a mechanic/dealer shop or look for GM throttle body relearn procedure in google. (start the engine,, let it idle in park for 3 minutes, then turn off, etc...) make sure you use a timer. I had to do this several times in mine to get rid of the high revs. Cheers.

      Hi guys. I did this job I taught the throttle twice. In my opinion, there are minor improvements, but. In the range of revolutions 1900 - 2200 There are slight jolts. This is especially noticeable on the cruise control, when the car constantly drives in this range, it constantly coughs. Then it switches to a lower gear, increases the revolutions and accelerates. Very similar to the exhaust gas recirculation valve problem but this valve is new and the system has been cleaned. It seems that some sensor is not working correctly. Please share your thoughts.

    • @svca12218
      @svca12218  Před 4 lety +4

      Hello Robert. Since the fix, the problem didn't come back for me. Please know that these "newer" cars have many "resets" that must be done with a powerful handheld tablet/computer. One must have access to one of these tablets in order to reset the throttle angle to the correct number....my local dealership charges $150 just to do that....I was able to buy a VXDiag GM interface to connect a laptop to the vehicle....it comes with a knockoff GM software that lets me do many things without going to the dealership: reset throttle, test circuits, and see live data....adding a subscription to ACDelco TDS (technical delivery system) for 3 days for $57....lets you reprogram modules if needed. If your throttle is sticking I would look for a new part in rockauto.com it should cost about $120....but please keep in mind...many repairs for this model require that expensive computer to reset values. I am just a DIY mechanic and now I have seen the need to upgrade to that interface and later I will need an automotive oscilloscope also. Cheers.

      really hard to pin point the problem without reading the codes. Engine must have three ingredients to work perfectly: electricity (spark); fuel, and air. One of those is not being supplied correctly and you have problems.
