- It's a Battle of the Bands! Marines with the III Marine Expeditionary Force faced off against band members from the South Korean Army. The battle was deemed a tie. Who do you think won?
Video by: Sgt. Benito Hijar
As a korean, its shame that this competition ended as a tie. Marines obviously won.
Sun Moon... be proud, that is simply due to mutual respect. I, as a young Marine had the privilege of serving along side of a ROK Marine in the very early days of the Vietnam war. Fierce warriors they were, and I, at 19 years old knew my ROK Marine counter part was covering my six and he knew I had his, Semper Fi.
rufsmith1 My father was a UDT instructor and also served in Vietnam. I am proud of being a Korean, and I am of my father that he served for his country. However, I honoring my ROK marines and thinking that the result of this competition is shameful are irrelevant. Because I chose US Marines as winners, does not mean that I am ashamed of ROK soldiers.
@@anstjsdlr If you watch more of these videos where the different bands of the U.S. Marine Corps, they will always give the win to the opponent or call it a tie. Simply because of their humble nature and their respect of their opponents.
All were represented, after all...they did have a parade as announced. They all one, having to be stoic sucks. Primarily,Thankfully! Pride was shown and celebrated for, too, and about the moment.
@@rufsmith1 Such a short youtube comment story can touch your heart! :D
I loved the way them drum rolls and beats sounded like bullets flying...Once a Marine, always a Marine!👍🇺🇸
If only all conflicts could be settled with drumlines.
@@Shutterbun4 Well we look at the Napoleonic wars, they had fifers, bugles, drumlines galore!
Great. Now I have to go run 3 miles...
Joseph Bennett 3 miles is easy do 6 in 32 minutes
@@marscorona5861 if you wanna play like that run 13 in an hour and 40 minutes with a couple thousand feet of elevation gain
@Mars Corona and nothing to say
The koreans are so humble x)
That’s the Japanese
They are in Okinawa Japan.
Player 1 is right, read the description. The Marines are stationed in Okinawa but are playing against the South Korean Army band members
Yup, as a Korean I understand the language they are speaking in the video..
Dallin Hutch no it's korea the MEF or marine expeditionary force or at least that detachment is stationed out of okinawa japan they probably flew out to korea for a training or something
I will never not watch this and be filled with admiration and pride! Pride for the US Marines, and admiration for the Koreans who cheered louder for their competition than they did themselves! Love this video.
The marines one, the only reason why they deemed it a tie was to avoid conflict xP
what conflict we are allies with them
Devildog MARSOC He means a little bit of butt-hurt from the losers. He doesn’t mean all-out warfare lmao
even kick ass in drumming
Dam them Marines killed it!! Think they won hands down!!
Saw your Huskers picture. Just want to say hello from Omaha....
U.S. Marines: Awesome, classy, diplomatic and did I say AWESOME!
Great to see the US Marine Corps band in my birth country of South Korea. Clearly the US Marines won this drum battle and they were so diplomatic to call it a tie. As a Korean American, I am continually grateful to all US service men and women, defending South Korea today. America made such a tremendous sacrifice of lives to save South Korea from communism during the Korean War and US military continues to stand and defend South Korea to the present day. May God bless and protect the men and women of our US military for being the greatest defenders of freedom.
I love that the ROK and the USA are friends. I used to clean house for a widow who's husband fought in the Korean War and was stationed there afterwards, "he loved the people" she would always tell me. I share his sentiment as you can probably tell from my picture lol.
That moment when marines get respect. Semper fi!
That?.. moment,... Everytime you see a damn uniform!!
All the Koreans: "OK, after the parade, we play them in StarCraft"
Love how they hyped each other up! Of all the drum battle videos, I come back to watch this once in a while just for that
That...was...outstanding! It was Drumline recreated by the USMC
No shit? I may have to break down and watch the movie.
Except better. In every way. You can skip the crap fest Drumline.
I love how excited the bass drummer for SoKor was, great spirit!
If only all battles could be decided this way!
That was awesome
The Marines started playing the other kids drums
Almost as good as Top Secret! Almost.
@@nelsonturner501 Top Secret is NEXT level from this, honestly. But the camaraderie in this is great to watch.
My son's a Marine, was in Okinawa for 3 years. I loved seeing this.
Marines, winning battles everywhere!
Ok that was pretty dope. I liked when the US Marines started playing on their drum kits.
That was badass, use to be in the drum line in school. Great sportsmanship from everyone!
They are so SPICY WITH IT
I just love this! Female navy veteran here.....they both did sound amazing
Idc if a line of marines has m4a1’s, teddy bears or drums in hand..
A line of marines approaching you is Always intimidating lol
Music, bringing people together.
Drum lines --- MARINES ALL THE WAY
Seeing S. Korea's drumline getting into their performance ..
Witnessing a very special performance by the
BEST OF FRIENDS.
HOW COOL IS THAT ????? !!!!!!!!
There's just nothing like a good drum line!
Damn marines killed it
They were awed. And respectful. Made my day. Rah.
Good job to both countries. Marines all the way baby. OORAH!!!
Esprit de corps! Well done boys!
That was an awesome display !!!!!
The mission of the Marine Corps Drum and bugle corps is to locate, close with and destroy the other band by BDE, and to repel the other bands assault by straight fire beats.
That was fun. A lot of mutual respect between ROK forces and our Marines.
Marines always win....literally every battle. Such amazing sports
Dr. Lee from the film Drumline:
"One Band....One Sound..."
This is how war SHOULD be fought. jk
This was so sick!!
I was groovin to the Marines omg
Some Dagon Days, sux being a Marine holding to standard but... The Koreans, not only held the line...They celebration in the moment.... Sum Days Suck with the camera on.
WELL PRESENTED AND DONE GENTLEMEN. May your future endeavors be just as well.
The FACT THAT ITS A BATTLE a friendly battle but they are Vibin tho😂
not even fair but that was awesome
Both bands sounds really sharp. Awesome job men .
Intercultural understanding, awesome
SEMPER FI‼️🥁🥁🥁🥁🍻
The spirit of camaraderie. All in good fun.
Any team with a quad drum set will win
They are so good
Marines absolute schooled them...hands down a Marine victory...
What class. Even in triumph we're magnanimous. SemperFi
wtf, we never got a dope ass band following us on patrols in 07.
That was not a tie! They just didn’t want the Koreans to go nuts😂
Outstanding!!!!
This is fucking awesome
I miss Marching... Inspiring performance!
Respect to the South Korean Army Drum line... but the Marines won that battle hands down.
Outstanding Marines. Semper Fi!

👍👍👍💪🇺🇸🌅🌎🇺🇸💪👏👏👏
that made me smile.
Wow they are so good!!
This was good exchange between both bands. I've worked and trained with along side ROK Marines. They're ust as tough and full of the same fighting sprit as US Marines.
oh man the smile on my face.. how cool.
This is so awesome
The reason I'm wanting to join the marine corps I'd die for my brothers
Fuck yea. Go USA
Commendable courage. But it's preferable to make the enemy die for his brothers.
Being a U.S.N seaman vet. I have a brother whom was with the U.S.Marines in Korea, with the 1st marine division
0:50
Very diplomatic to call a tie.
Well done Marines. It was kind that the Koreans lent them a drum though. Bonus point?
Like a DCI corps whipping up on a Middleschool battery not even close.
But with that said, my highschool drumline had a similar experience with the commandants own. They pretended to lose to us, it all started when they heard us playing troop march b (their main cadence)
Amazing
너무나도 아름다운 장면!
very cool!
USMC WALKS the WALK!
US Marines for sure but it really isn't fair, I bet those Koreans never saw Drumline
Go III MEF!! Okinawa baby. I was at 3rd Medical Battalion 2007-2011
Hoorah Marines!
Marines all the way!!
Damn! I bet they could take out any college drum line in the states
Really?! They were great, granted, but I refer you to this: czcams.com/video/sCUOPwU7jmg/video.html
Although not college lines, you should also see this czcams.com/video/5x5KVP2QWJE/video.html and this czcams.com/video/kd8UXijXtqM/video.html
definitely better than most non competing bands but umich, umd, osu, nt, etc. all just practice way more
Excuse us while we play your drums too.
OORAH!
They were both good, but let's put either line against the drum line of Grambling University and watch the fireworks.
We have a very particular set of drums.
Greatful
Marines won tf
The us and South Korea are so damn close its fuckin awesome
This is fucking great, just great!! 👍🏻 👍🏻
Hey! They were both good.
But is it possible, some of you, have never heard of DCI?
this is actually sick af
We Go Together! Gatchi Gapsida! ROK US Alliance Forever
MARINES !!
Hell yeah!
😄 good job both korea and us did good !
That was fucking Cool! Brought it to there face.
The Asians go owned yeah go USA and marine drum group
Ooorah Marine Corps!
Both did outstanding, but I prefer the music played by the Marines.
Lmao they legit pulled a dumline movie move by using the other teams ones.
The marines just kicked there ass sooooo hard
Wtf that’s so weird. I just noticed the ROK doesn’t use regular Marching Snares.
Semper fi
Merica!
Difinately the USMC won!
Wars should be solved like this lol
