Whenever I pass through Ohio on my way to Chicago, I always stop and leave flowers at Elizabeth Hartman's grave. I don't need to say more.

She was so angelic. She was gentle, genuine and misunderstood. I have suffered with depression for decades. It is an insidious, cowardly killer of the human soul. My heart goes out to Elizabeth and I thank her for all the joy that she brought to this world, this world that was as cruel as it was kind to such a delicate spirit. RIP.

She is probably the most beautiful actress I have seen in my life. Elizabeth was a very talented and gorgeous woman and it's really sad that she wasn't able to realize that suicide wasn't the answer when she decided to end her life. She also happened to voice mrs brisby in the secret of nimh which was one of my favorite movies as a kid and today Its in either my top ten or top five favorite movies of all time. rest in peace ms elizabeth hartman you sweet beautiful angel. You will forever be missed by many including myself.

*Willie Gordon* where did you hear that? The woman was depressed for most of her adult life and suicidal toward the end. Apparently she'd attempted to contact her shrink the day she jumped out of the window.

One of the best movies ever made. A Patch of Blue is truly my favorite movie. Elizabeth Hartman was superb as Selena. Her light has been gone for a while, but she will never be forgotten.

Elizabeth Hartman was so wonderful in her performance I wanted to cry because I truly got into the storyline that made me feel sad for the character she played. She received an academy award for this performance. I wished she won!

Same, I just found out today she passed on, through reading about classic cartoon actresses is how I stumbled on her story. I'm currently watching on Sprout TV The Rescuers, then I searched the cast, realizing voice actress that played Mrs Bianca passed as well. hope they're resting in peace.

How chilling among the first words spoken are "a dream come true" when it was, for Bif, a nightmarish hell. She was quoted the film ruined her life because she wasn't prepared for instant success. Hopefully she enjoyed a few magical moments before darkness descended and swept her away. RIP.

The movie, A Patch of Blue, has always been in my peripheral view for years. I've seen bits and pieces here and there but never watched the movie in its entirety until the other day when it was on TCM. I was in tears by the end of the film. tears of joy, sadness, yearning. The emotions that are still with me days after seeing it. I've watched it "On Demand" now at least three additional times. I realize that the film's "message" was about civil rights issues that were prevalent in the 60's and that message wasn't lost on me but it's superficial appeal about two people that would probably have never found one another because of their diverse backgrounds, did find one another and loved each other for no ulterior motives other than who they were inside. This is probably the most beautiful love story on film I've seen.

Two actresses that I have loved in everything they did were Sandy Dennis and Elizabeth Hartman. Both left a legacy of great films, both left us too soon. What a pity, but we were better for knowing them a while.

    • @MrRJMGREEN

+Bruce Powell Oh yes! Sandy Dennis delivered powerful performances. She was so very weird. She died too young.

Since the first time I saw this movie, I was amazed about it. The story, the cast, the music everything fits perfectly.
    E. Hartmann was one the big surprises of the 60's. Talented, charismatic and uncomplicated E. H. made it easy and unforgettable at the same time.
    R. I. P. Elizabeth and thank you forever.
