    It was a nice homage to the old act. I think people might have a bit of rose colored glasses. Looking back at the original sketch, it wasn't that hard to figure out either. Penn and Teller's shirts were floating. The great thing is the act remains entertaining even after you figure out the trick. I think it's actually a little bit more polished with better props to hide the illusion. The hairstyles in particular and extra items on the desk were good touches.
    Yes, being upside down will lift some areas - I think seeing Jen & Amber in previous acts their cheeks bring higher were actual the bigger giveaway, but the same happened to Penn & Teller.

  • @dougperc
    @dougperc Před 4 lety

    Totally sucked in. Great job. And at 3:51, she throws the balled up paper "down." Half a second later, you can see a shadow of the paper going "up." It's certainly nothing that could spoil the illusion; I only saw it the third time I watched the video.

  • @totz_the_plaid9625
    @totz_the_plaid9625 Před rokem

    The reason they passed it off is that Teller can't handle being upside-down anymore. It's a great bit, I'm glad they've passed it on. It's too fun to let it disappear entirely.

      Looking her up, it seems that she's about as opposite in persona to Jen as they come. :D It probably would be a good pairing, if they assembled a full act and could figure out how to make the good girl / bad girl thing work without seeming too fake.

  • @riotxxx

    It's a shame its so hard to look natural and comfortable upside down, I'd say Penn and Teller looked equally uncomfortable back on SNL, which gives it away. Nice gag though.

    • @Baribrotzer
      @Baribrotzer Před 6 lety +1

      That there are no camera tricks involving clever angles and cuts, that they're doing it all in front of a live audience. Of course, there's one BIG camera trick and one OUTRAGEOUS clever angle, but the live audience is in on it, and laughing along with the performers.

    I enjoyed this but what was with that intro ott on the women will be the best magicians and can do everything better than men blah blah. Dude, appreciate a magician cause they're good, not because of their gender, race, sexuality etc. The whole point is to see the person as an individual, not to define them by their category.

    • @ThePeoplesMoai
      @ThePeoplesMoai Před 3 lety

      Yeah, I get what your saying, but I believe that comment wasn't random, it comes from the fact that Jen had already been on Fool Us prior to this, and her trick was really nice, so I guess you can understand where Pen is coming from, having had other women such as Lea Kyle, and Katrina Kroech performing other amazing tricks.

    • @totz_the_plaid9625
      @totz_the_plaid9625 Před rokem +1

      It's because historically magic has been an exclusionary "boys' club." P&T are actively trying to even the playing field by promoting talented women.

    • @johnharambethe2nd226
      @johnharambethe2nd226 Před 6 lety +1

      In this case, a woman's cleavage instead of acting as a distraction - it gave away the trick

    • @blackjack67576
      @blackjack67576 Před 5 lety +1

      ??? Women have way less places to hide things. Unless you want your women going on stage wearing mens clothes which would be kind of weird.
